The HardOCP guide, etc... |

Blue, you gotta make the new HardOCP DOOM 3 guide a news item, a lot of useful info in there.
Though one problem I do have with the article, is the bit about cranking up the AA not having any spectacular effects, going on to show screenshots to prove this point...guess what, they all suck. Its just that each individual step up in res is a little less sucky, but non really reach the levels that can be attained by 4x AA. Not that I have a system that can run this, but I'm just saying.
And to Zathrus, number 60, I understand its a beta. I was pointing that out in the reality that there realy are no 64-bit applications available, aside from Linux itself.
And we're not talking about administering databases here, are we? LOL

iSphinx I dunno man the AMD 64 is pretty sexy, but I just refuse to buy a CPU that's friggin expensive, that has millions of extra transistors for 64-bit functionality that nothing seems to be using yet.
Wait until the software market catches up with the hardware market.
Here here...not a good sign when the 64-bit version of XP runs games slower than the 32-bit version when using an AMD 64.
My current system, as if anyone cares:
XP2200+ (DOOM 3 may convince me of a faster cpu) 1 GB Crucial PC3200 DDR400 (kind of a waste without a XP3000+ 400) 9800 Pro 128
In the end I'm expecting 30+ fps on medium detail, 2-4x AA and AF, at 1024x768. However, if I can run at that on high detail at 800x600, I'll do it...but I fear my Pro 128 will be the limiting factor for texture settings.
Back to my reply to zaq, even if I need to upgrade to an XP3000+, I should be comfortable for the next year...at which time a good 64-bit cpu and a 512 MB PCI-X video card will be on the market and not too bad of a price (I'm referring to the video card as being on the market).

Cool videos you got there.
Thanks...I have to admit, those actually ARE my videos (I did them), and yes, I used JDoom for them. Shameless plug.

I actually completely downloaded this one, but only watched a part of it, at which point I realized I was seeing more than I wanted to.

But Carmack says that—despite the uncertainty and risk—independence is its own reward. "The bottom line is that we like being in the driver's seat," he says. "We can take our games to whatever publishers we want, and those publishers cough up a lot of money for them."
God bless John Carmack. Again, one of the many reasons why he and id software kick copious amounts of ass.

In reply to #8 Chris
It depends on what you consider a spoiler. I didn't want to know that both the cacodemons and cyberdemon would be coming back...I would have liked to find out for myself.
As simple as the gameplay may be, I don't want to hear about "when you go here, and do this, this freaky thing happens", etc.

I started downloading this, but then stopped, because I'm trying to stay away from spoilers now. I already know too much about the game
