You know - the more posts I read here the more certain I am that the United Community of Crying Little Girls hold their weekly convention here or something.
The only valid grip, in my opinion, is the idea of needing to know system specs and wanting a demo to try your system with it. But, even with that, we all know that most demos are still tweeked somewhat prior to release (assuming it is a pre release).
The bitch that it is a SP game only....get over it. You don't find people complaining the Everquest is multiplayer only. They wanted to focus on SP for this and - if they can pull it off with a truely fun game - then I am all for it. You have plenty of opportunity to play other MP games. Go play them.
As far as the complaints go with screen shots and videos only - sure they only show so much. Does that mean everyone will demand the Doom 3 demo (actually demo release not the leaked stuff) before they buy it? I mean come on...these games are not "new". You know what you will get for the most part in an Unreal or Id game. The intangibles such as scripting, story, etc. - you can get a good idea from online or mag reviews prior to purchasing.
And any pirating rationalizations are just stupid. You might as well say "I am just going to steal that DVD player from Wal-Mart since they make so much money anyhow and I am not sure if I really want to buy a DVD player. So I will just try it out and then go back and pay for it." Yeah right.
For those of your who still claim allowances as your W2, then I can understand your apprehension in shelling out $50 on any game. If money is that tight, wait for the reviews or go see it at a friends before purchasing.
Man...I mean cripes. When did a demo become mandatory and something that gamers expect and, obviously, get a wee pissy about if they don't get it? A demo serves those smaller companies that need to get the buzz out there. Companies such as Epic (Legend), Id, 3dr, etc. don't need to spend time on demos prior to a game release. I would rather have a company spend the extra time putting in content or QA over a demo any day. Especially with a game like this where you already have a pretty good idea of what you will get.
Next week, I will be playing the game while some of you guys keep whining over how you got slighted somehow.
