I know HL2 will get all the attention but this one really has the look of being very cool. I liked the movies that they released on how interaction is different depending on who you play or what up "skill up" on.

I'll be buying this one as soon as I see it on the shelves.

Thanks again. I was just confused why I would have to "access Valve's games" if I was playing offline and single player only.

Thanks.

Thank you. I bought the retail version (should be in the mail today).

One final question - once the game is installed and activated (like you mentioned), does Steam need to remain installed or can it be removed?

Thanks for all the info.

Could someone please tell me - for sure - to play the Single Player game - what do I need to have concerning Steam, etc?

When you install do you just need to verify once (like XP) or do you have to always be connected to Steam? Do you need to download and install the full Steam package? Do you get it with the game itself or do I need to download it?

Any help would be appreciated. I am broadband challenged (56k) and would like to know what I am in for.

Thanks.

I am not sure what some of you are complaining about. In my opinion, PK is a great game. Is it HL2? No. D3? No. GOTY? No. But, is it fun? Hell yes. The graphics and sound are very good. The "bosses" are amazing, the cutscenes very well done and it is just fun.

To each their own, I just find this game a whole lot of fun and think PCF did a great job.

Loved the BGE demo...but a warning to everyone with an older AMD processor (like me)...UBIsoft dorked up and didn't completely fix the AMD bug from the demo...thus, you might want to wait till the AMD patch for the retail version is released (suppose to be within a week).

Other than that - the game looks very interesting and with a lot of promise.

Giants ruled and was very original with great humor and graphics and this looks very similar. No demo needed for me on this one - I'm getting this as soon as I see it in the stores.

To me it doesn't mater if it is CGI, cell shaded or crayon...if the game is fun, that is all I need. And, at least from the demo, it seems like this game should be a good play.

Well - a lot of X-files type stuff to believe in order to buy your theory...but let me ask you this - what about Havok and Miles? Are they involved too? According to what I have heard, the entire source for Havok 2.0 is in that leak/stolen source. I really don't think Havok and/or Miles would partake in a "hoax" or ploy like this.

Has anyone heard about any responses from Havok and Miles Sound System - both of which, in my understanding of what was released (no - I don't have, nor do I want the source)had their code in there. From what I heard, the entire Havok 2 source code was in there.

I know, if I were either I would be MORE than pissed at Valve...especially if this could've all been prevented with a couple grand more in firewall and router hardware and maybe someone who actually put patches on their workstations and servers.

I can't imagine that the people at Havok are at all thrilled about this and probably really wondering what the heck Valve was doing...

Jem -

I haven't seen too much more but I found many of the movies on IGN pretty cool. I especially like the giant one. Looks cool to this point but Nov. is a ways off (expected release date) so we'll have to see what happens.

For those of your looking for (or complaining about) a new "breakthrough" in a FPS game, this isn't it. However, in my opinion, it is fun. The graphics and animations are better than SS and everything just looks a little crisper to me. And it ran just fine on my machine (1.2/ Radeon 9700 Pro) Yes, it is the bigger brother of SS. That said, if you liked/loved SS then you will like this also (unless you are a SS fanboy and hate the fact that it is blatant rip of your game).

Plus, lets not forget, it only costs $19.99 (Amazon)

Anyhow, just my 2 cents. I will be picking it up.

SomeGuy - You try to justify all you want. You can say you will eventually go pay for it. Everyone knows thats BS. And then to come back and say "had they offered me a taste via a playable demo" as your reason for stealing it is fricking lame. So, it is all their fault they are causing you to steal it eh? Then again, in America today it isn't ever the individuals fault for their actions....someone else made me do it. I am not responsbile for anything. Blame them.

Simple fact is that if you took products from brick and mortor stores, put it in your pocket and tried walking out the door, you would at least be spending a couple hours with Bubba and playing his princess....despite your claims that you "were going buy it some day down the road."

Stop trying to justify....we would have more respect for you if you could at least admit you are scum and said "I am stealing it".

On a side question - do console gamers have this issue too? Do they sit around waiting for demos before purchasing? If they don't get a demo, do they go and burn the chip to make a copy? Just more proof that the typical PC user has been spoiled into EXPECTING things and whine when they don't get it.

You know - the more posts I read here the more certain I am that the United Community of Crying Little Girls hold their weekly convention here or something.

The only valid grip, in my opinion, is the idea of needing to know system specs and wanting a demo to try your system with it. But, even with that, we all know that most demos are still tweeked somewhat prior to release (assuming it is a pre release).

The bitch that it is a SP game only....get over it. You don't find people complaining the Everquest is multiplayer only. They wanted to focus on SP for this and - if they can pull it off with a truely fun game - then I am all for it. You have plenty of opportunity to play other MP games. Go play them.

As far as the complaints go with screen shots and videos only - sure they only show so much. Does that mean everyone will demand the Doom 3 demo (actually demo release not the leaked stuff) before they buy it? I mean come on...these games are not "new". You know what you will get for the most part in an Unreal or Id game. The intangibles such as scripting, story, etc. - you can get a good idea from online or mag reviews prior to purchasing.

And any pirating rationalizations are just stupid. You might as well say "I am just going to steal that DVD player from Wal-Mart since they make so much money anyhow and I am not sure if I really want to buy a DVD player. So I will just try it out and then go back and pay for it." Yeah right.

For those of your who still claim allowances as your W2, then I can understand your apprehension in shelling out $50 on any game. If money is that tight, wait for the reviews or go see it at a friends before purchasing.

Man...I mean cripes. When did a demo become mandatory and something that gamers expect and, obviously, get a wee pissy about if they don't get it? A demo serves those smaller companies that need to get the buzz out there. Companies such as Epic (Legend), Id, 3dr, etc. don't need to spend time on demos prior to a game release. I would rather have a company spend the extra time putting in content or QA over a demo any day. Especially with a game like this where you already have a pretty good idea of what you will get.

Next week, I will be playing the game while some of you guys keep whining over how you got slighted somehow.

Fine Zip - go do that. I will provide the stick for ya because you are certainly providing the shit. And thank you for proving my point, yet again.

Why don't you actually play the game before spouting off? Novel idea eh?
