"So do I. But I don't feel like anything is coming close to the bar set by Tribes 2."
As a T2 Renegades former player , I second that statement. Let the skiing begin! YES! I miss my T2...

Jesus...I am stunned. You know, he came in to Help Rob Bottin on The Thing, creating the first dog scene. So awesome.
He will be sorely missed...

I actually enjoyed Starlancer up to a point, but then it got friggin HARD and I could not make it past this one spot and I quit. I purchased Freelancer, but could not get into it and have not returned to it since. I understand it's fun, but I just can't bring myself to play it.
Same with X3. I finally have the hardware to run it comfortably, but even though I played the shit out of X2, once I had purchased three of the largest capitol ships and had all the fighters, I just suddenly lost interest, and I'm talking about in the space of ten minutes I was like "wtf am I doing? This universe is just boring." So I quit.
I want a game where I can explore the galaxy. Head out to a star, scan the system for planets, make planetfall and explore the terrain, mine for minerals and find alien artifacts. I want to be in danger from native flora and fauna, and stellar objects like black holes and nebulae.
Is that too much to ask?

Creamy, Nexus was friggin awesome! I played it three times on hard and still have it running on vistaU. That tech demo of the nexus sequel looks badass too. Too bad they dropped development on it. I did sign the petition, though, even though it makes no difference...
I need a new psace game. Agreed about X3. It lifeless to me. I need another NEXUS!

I hope it's just a low point too, Jerykk, but seeing Lucasarts, the company that inspired me to buy my first PC, apparently abandon the PC platform regarding Forced Unleashed...well that kind of opened my eyes a little.
I'm glad I have an entire wall filled with 14 years of pc games that I can fall back to. "Memmmmoriessss....." rofl...

Oh I know, Opti, but wouldn't nvidia and Ati stand to lose if there is no reason for gamers to shell out for the latest video card, or is that just insignifigant to them?
I guess it wouldn't really bother any of them, really. I always used to think that the pc gamers pushed the market, but that's probably not true.

Is this initiative too late? Everyone's going console now. I'd think Intel, Ati and Nvidia would be concerned about that as well.

I have Mass Effect already for the 360 and only made it about 45 minutes in before I grew wearly of the controls, interface and texture popping, so I will buy it for the PC.
DRM or no, I feel if I do have to install it more than three times, a call to tech support will be worth the incovenience in order to provide my support for my beloved PC platform.
I am staring into a shitty consoley blackness and I am not happy... Long live the PC!!!!
And yes, please play System Shock 2. Its still worthy and looks pretty good with the mods, and it is friggin scary as hell...

I bought a 360 and have this game and could barely make it through 30 minutes of it before the controls and texture popping about made me puke. AND, my next door neighbors are 360 nerds and all they talk about is this game and R6 and how high their friggin GAMER SCORE is! It seriously makes me want to slap the shit out of both of them.
Two days ago, the girl neighbor asked me why I have my pc hooked up to my TV and why I liked that more than the 360. She said she saw no point in playing on the PC because it did not track your GAMER SCORE...I had to fight the urge to slap the shit out of her...

Heh, he could have proof read as well:
"so I was forced to endure the game equivalent of Wanger’s “Ride of the Valkyries”"
Heh, "Wanger's".

#7: "It's not for the people who like arcade space shooters like the Freespace, Freelancer or the Wing Commanders."
Ummm, I loved freespace1 and 2, Freelancer and Starlancer and the Wing Commander series, and I absolutely loved X2: The Threat....

Well, I personally like version2, and I skipped the first tribes, but Tribes2 rules even now. I just got through playing for about an hour, a nightly ritual.
I hope TV does the game justice.
