Will anyone outside San Francisco buy Mass Effect 3 because of gay characters? Really? Ok, maybe a few wingnuts.
However, will the hype over gay characters turn off many heterosexuals? Possibly... probably not worth the risk.
While I'm not a homophobe, I almost skipped the wonderful GTA4 Gay Tony expansion because of the name. |

I feel horrible for Japan… they need our prayers but they don’t need our money. Japan is not Haiti. In fact, Japan ranks third in GDP, just behind the US and China, and they are our second largest creditor.
Think about it… This would be like Sony donating $1 Million to the US to help displaced families after hurricane Katrina. It’s a nice gesture, but maybe they should donate to a charity to feed hungry children instead.

Prez wrote on Apr 15, 2011, 11:08: I really wonder about the whole "99% of users never reach it" mantra that keeps getting repeated in reference to the 250GB cap. It's true... because Comcast continually boots the 1% who exceed the limit. Otherwise, it would probably read "90% of users never reach it."
If you believe Comcast, the average bandwidth use hasn't increased in the past 10 years... Comcast still insists that "the median monthly data usage by our residential customers is approximately 2 - 3 GB," or one streaming HD Netflix movie. http://xfinity.comcast.net/terms/network/amendment/ I'd wager the real number is closer to 100GB.

No DX11, no Crossfire/SLI support, no advanced graphics options, and users are reporting that the dreaded Nano-Catalyst bug hasn't been squashed... Looks like the patch needs a patch. |

Yesterday's Twitter post by Tiago Sousa has since been deleted. Just Google CRYTEK_TIAGO and check the cached webpage...

| Dark Sun was SSI’s knockoff of Ultima7. While the production values were obviously lower, I remember enjoying the game quite a bit. |

I’m almost certain that he meant 15 hours of dialog… 15 hours of gameplay for a GTA-style open world game is laughable.
After talking about “doing full localization for every language” and have to “split out languages” to get the game to fit onto a single DVD, he then says, “the experience is 15 hours, so it’s not too bad”, and “the script is 600 pages…”, obviously referring to their language localization efforts. At least, I hope that’s what he meant… There is still time to cancel my preorder.

Actually, it is... It was originally announced two or three years ago as Realms of Arkania IV: Drakensang, but for legal reasons (Sir-Tech may be dead, but it still owns the RoA trademark) the name was changed to Drakensang: The Dark Eye.

I think some of you are confusing Darklands with Realms of Arkania...
Darklands was set in medieval Germany and published by Microprose in the early 90’s; It was extremely detailed and historically accurate, but it had horrid graphics (even for its time) that consisted of nothing more than stick figures and tiny blocky buildings on a flat isometric plane.
The Realms of Arkania trilogy (Blade of Destiny, Star Trail, & Shadows over Riva) were German games published by Sir-Tech in the 90’s. They had a first-person view similar to Bards Tale or Wizardry, but the strategic battles took place on a chess board (or an isometric grid); Each character had a limited number of points that you could use to move, attack, cast, or perform other actions. I also remember it had adventure style puzzles (combine this with that and use it to activate some device) and was the first CRPG that allowed you to split your party and swap between them.

This is actually Realms of Arkania IV: Drakensang. The RoA series developed by Attic Software was based on the German RPG system Das Schwarze Auge, and translated into English and released in the mid-90's by Sir-Tech.

I really wish it were video compression artifacts, but it's been confirmed by people at X05. PGR3 had texture streaming problems, and jaggies were abundant. I've also read of other games, such as Oblivion and PDZ, that were missing AA; Hopefully that's just a MS driver issue that'll be corrected by launch.

While most agree that individuals should be able to sell their used games, retailers can make more money selling used games than new, and they are not willing to split the profits with the developers.
There is a simple solution to this, and one that is bad for gamers... Publishers will require registration and an online validity check when the game starts up. This will lock the game to an individual and prevent you from selling it. This will affect both PC and Video games; For example, every XBox360 owner will have a free limited Live! account... Think how easy it would be to require entry of a registration code to lock the game to that account.

Beginning of the end for id. I'm not surprised JC is thinking of quitting... he can go on to his Armadillo Aerospace,
Yes, I'm sure John Carmack is happy to spend time away from his dysfunctional family known as id. Besides, if his rocket ever gets off the ground, he can make more money putting one satellite into space than he ever made at id.
