2. Re: Battlefield Academy Renamed, Cross-Platform OS X Version and Demo Released Sep 6, 2011, 15:29 Nighthawk

I would like to hear from the vetrans of WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Korea, 1812, about EA's copyright on "Battlefield"...

I didn't see the EA logo anywhere in Kandahar when I was there, just sayin...

That's the same pre-played that's $5 less than new right...I still wouldn't fall for that, it's insulting.

11. Re: Blizzard TMs Mists of Pandaria Aug 3, 2011, 00:16 Nighthawk

Well, I've got no interest in this seeing how greedy blizzard and activision are.
Between selling mounts and non-combat pets in WoW, to a real-money auction house in D3, I'm wondering when they're going to start selling points or gear.

Love the "Real-Money" auction house...the next step in micro transactions....
I love watching how greedy blizzard got after activision stepped in... real money for mounts in wow, real money for virtual items (non-combat pets), and now real money for items.
My real money is going away blizz, SW:TOR will be getting it.

12. Re: EA Ending Online Support for "Older" Games Jul 13, 2011, 06:04 Nighthawk

I'm still waiting for 2142 to have support, demo or main.
From day 1 there has been the indestructable spawn marker bug (when placed on titans), and after 2(?) years of not playing I reinstall and see the same bug.
I love my BF games, but their "support" is crap.

42. Re: WoW Your Friends for Free Jun 27, 2011, 16:14 Nighthawk

Trolling is amusing, I would love to find out how many of these wow flamers have
a) played WoW for any length of time
b) played in the last month.
The major draw to the game, and MY justification of spending the money every 2 months (I buy cards) is that there is constant upgrades and changes, new content, etc.
Even now patch 4.2 is coming with new zones and raids and instances....

--edit--
that being said, I am annoyed that they are slowly leaning more towards micro transactions, buying mounts and non-combat pets.

12. Re: XCOM in March 2012 Jun 3, 2011, 18:11 Nighthawk

I love the xcom series, but that kinda looked hookey, graphically, didn't appeal to me at all.
In an FPS model I would hope for something that had more of a bioshock atmosphere.

/just sayin

News Comments > Star Wars Games "Our Priority" - LucasArts
38. Re: Star Wars Games Jun 2, 2011, 21:18 Nighthawk

From the article:
In recent years, LucasArts hasn’t always done a good job of making games.
Ok, admission, I like it.
I liked a lot of the old games too, everyone once in a while I install XW-Alliance, that because of the ship selection, didn't care TOO much for the story.
Should we luck out and have someone reading from LA reading the forum, here's my choices
- X-Wing type flight sim, latest generation, maybe storyline spanning the whole series (and official books?)
- Battlefront, watch the battlefield/CoD for inspiration, BF:BC2 for multi
---edit---
oh...ahem...do I need to mention PC gamers have been your backbone?

News Comments > Valve: Steam Good for Retail
14. Re: Valve: Steam Good for Retail May 10, 2011, 10:58 Nighthawk

NIN hits it right on.
I can't say I agree with the statement that steam is GOOD for retail, helped it maybe, but not good.
I think it's GOOD for the PC gaming industry.
I've purchased a few games (recently) that I wouldn't have done more than eyeball in a retail store because of steams sales.
Metro 2033, BF:BC2 + Vietnam, Galactic Adventures for Spore being the most recent.
At ~$5 a hit, for something I wanted to try, why not...I'm sure those are still $50 retail.
Maybe this will help shake things up a little...

nin wrote on May 10, 2011, 10:49:
Steam prices are generally high for new titles, but their "Sale weekends" are excellent.

Steam has encouraged a form of buying I started using with gogamer years ago: I'll gladly wait 6 months to a year, if I can get the game for $5-$20. And in turn, I also pickup stuff I normally wouldn't bother, as losing money on a $5 game is nowhere near as painful as losing money on a $50 one.

News Comments > Valve Done with the "Isolated Single-player Experience"?
3. Re: Valve Done with the Apr 25, 2011, 14:23 Nighthawk

So it's a matter of interpretation, does that mean it's all (human) multi player from now on?? or just having an AI partner.
I suspect that an "isolated single player experience" means goodbye to the single player gaming that made valve what they are today.
(ie Half Life, 2, Ep1/2, Portal) etc...
I sincerely hope not, because means RIP valve in my household..gamers tend to be tards online...

2. Re: Rift Open Beta Event Next Week Feb 7, 2011, 14:03 Nighthawk

I'm not impressed with it.
The graphics are good, but there's too much taken from WoW, and it comes off as trying too hard.

It's not like it was going to be publicly released anytime soon.
They would have sat on it and it would have been filed away, there's too much profit on the treatments.
I would like to see the thief "leak" it to a public source, so a cure HAD to be released.

News Comments > DICE: PC Battlefield 3 Getting "Special Effort"
56. Re: DICE: PC Battlefield 3 Getting Jan 4, 2011, 07:38 Nighthawk

I reinstalled BF2 and 2142 in November and still enjoyed them, but what amazed me was the lack of a "special effort" in fixing the bugs that were there in launch.
2142 has this glitch where you can drop a mobile spawn point on the enemy titan and it couldn't be destroyed..so no more battlefield (or DICE) products on my PC anymore.

Tell that to all the people driving the T-Mobile Mazdaspeed 3 in Need for Speed World.
Or the Top Gear race (with billboards).
It might not convince me to buy them, but damn sure I notice them.

So how about that TSA?? Is it really that bad??
My neighbour was saying that he went down the florida and they're loving us Canadians down there just because we're spending money. I know that I would think twice about air travel in the US

How was Alpha Protocol? I keep eyeballing it for PS3.
As for the DLC, everyone knows that it'll come out for PC / PS3 at somepoint.

/laughed at the "Victim" being a PC gamer...so true.

81. Re: Retailers Versus Steam? Nov 11, 2010, 16:49 Nighthawk

The trending aside, it's interesting to note the lack of names of these people and where they stand in the food chain...
It could be some low level schmuck spouting off.

That being said, I'm not seeing any problem with the digital system competition, a few choices away, D2D, Impulse, Steam, EADM and GFW:L ?
Doesn't seem like any more of a monopoly than usual in this business...

I do enjoy that last line (in the headline) B&M stores, they could give a coiling fart about the PC market...as I watch the PC section in EB shrink year after year...
Oh...and why am I paying the same price for a Box / DVD as for a download lacking shipping and packaging???
