9. Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic - Shadow of Revan Released Dec 10, 2014, 11:30 Nighthawk

I came here to ask what the current state of affairs of SW:TOR is after years of unsub (and a week of trying to trial).
After reading the comments, I don't have to ask.

So...if on the off chance they produce something decent, you're going to steal it? Sounds convenient.
If you're going to boycott, grow a pair and boycott.
Take me and ubisoft, I won't buy them, if they make something good, I STILL DON'T BUY IT that's what a boycott is, sometimes you have to sacrifice the good with the bad.

Haden Blackman is one of the most incompetent motherfuckers who has ever worked in gaming. He carries a lot of the responsibility for the downfall of Star Wars Galaxie as he was the LucasArts producer at the time who either proactively forced and/or greenlighted many of SOE's game-breaking decisions. Many other Star Wars games like TFU stayed way below their potential thanks to that Blackman clown who was Jim Ward's personal brown-nosing and asslicking puppy dawg.
This new studio is doomed and I will make sure to boycott them completely. If by some random miracle they ever crap out anything half-decent, I'll get it for free (and I usually buy all of my games).
But that chance is like the proverbial snowball in hell so bring it on Blackman.... some generic, family and retard friendly AAA casual bullshit marketed as "exciting" and "revolutionary" even though it's last gen crap at best. You asshole.

News Comments > Star Wars Battlefront in Holidays 2015
18. Re: Star Wars Battlefront in Holidays 2015 Oct 29, 2014, 01:26 Nighthawk

EA and DICE, nobody has anything TO look forward to.
Dice has a proven track record of pushing out a pretty but broken product, doesn't, or takes an excessive amount of time fixing major bugs.
EA has proven it cares more about the dollar than the product (quality).
Together you can look forward to...I'll wager...6 DLCs, early access "bonuses", a $60 price tag, Origin exclusive, broken product.
It'll take a year or 3 to get fixed properly and by then you'll have elite players that can't be touched, and maybe a quality product.
This isn't speculation, it's history.

Pfft. So much negativity for something that's over a year away, and will have been worked on, by that point, for almost 4 years.

It'll be a great game...eventually. I know most people here have given up on BF4, but it's playable now, and actually very enjoyable. A year's worth of patches of course, but they are actively working on improving the game with the CTE, can't really ask for much more at this point. Just realize the Frostbite engine is never going to lead to a 100-tic Counterstrike-like experience and you'll be much better off.

I am under no illusions about how buggy Battlefront could be on release, but still, I'm looking forward to running somebody over with a Tauntaun. Or an Imperial Walker. or just seeing a nice 64 player battle with the classic SW laser colors and sound effects... *drool*

This is what happens when you sign up to a game that forces patches on you; patches that make changes whether or not you agree with those changes.
Not at all like any other online game right?

If/When it ships you'll be able to play it on your own spaceship.
I like the idea, but I think they have extended their ambitions (for the full game) beyond a reasonable timeline.
All that being said, when it releases, I'll hopefully pick it up.

I think the way they could pull a decent game off is release the next gen flight combat sim (per Task's comment) just after the movie comes out, have a loose tie in to the movie, but focus on a parallel storyline (from the movie).
I said the other day, SWTOR --should-- have been a license to print money, but Bioware screwed it up.

2. Re: Soldak's Next Game Apr 30, 2014, 20:18 Nighthawk

I'm going to sketch up a game concept.
The backstory is you're an indy game developer.
The game progresses with a small game dev making a zombie game, and it gets popular.
Then other devs near it make zombie games. This zombie game design trends for 15 years when the this game takes place.
The current state of affairs is 90% of the game devs are making zombie games, and you have to build up like minded developer friends to work together and make a game so amazing it stops the zombie game horde and you fix the planet...er...industry

Microsoft has been a phone company before.
The MP-900 cordless phone was out for a year or two before they tried to erase it from their history books, software and connections to a windows 95 computer only (98 was flakey).
They failed before, and anyone that purchased it was stuck with an expensive paperweight.

$85 for the full version of the game, but you have to wait to get all the content, and yet people still support EA's practices of doing this.
Seriously? It's a map pack! It should be free.

Or you could stop buying EA products. Every time you purchase their product you reinforce their policies.

I'm speaking with my wallet too, don't own it, won't buy it.
Same with Watch Dogs because of the unnecessary DRM.

Has there been a data dump that people can check their passwords again?
There has sometimes been a "search" to see if you've been compromised.

I want to point out I'm not looking for a text list to go all "m@d haxx0r" on the interwebs....
