News Comments > Half-Life 2 Preloads, Part 3
6. Re: No subject Sep 11, 2004, 00:03 anon@24.76

Its going to be a 3 way race to see who gets it first.

People who buy it from a store
People who buy it from steam
People who download it for free

Judging from every other release, I would have to put my money on option 3.

That article was pretty crappy, but FourPak, your comment wasnt' much better.
" like Quantum Physics, they have no bearing on "real" life. "
Thats like japanese people in 1930's saying that theoretical nuclear physics has no bearing on "real life"...

I like using the sensor jammers to help out with sniping.
cause then you wouldnt have a giant arrow overyour head when sniping from near the enemy base

Whats with the gabe lover boys here?

No one even made fun of his fat before someone starting complaining about people making fun of him being fat.

People have moved on to making fun of him for being an idiot when it comes to security, ie using Outlook=code thefts, and using your name as your password on a message board = identity theft on said message board.

But really, what can you expect from an Ex Microsoft Empoyee, cause when you think of secure software microsoft products sure come to mind...

also, I just finished playing Silent Storm expansion, and that, I think, would be the best use of Stargate. because of the objective format, and the squad based vs many more format.

And its 3d ness could easily do justice to the alien weapons.

News Comments > Half-Life 2 Dialogue Leak?
31. Re: Just out of sheer annoyance with Val Aug 17, 2004, 23:49 anon@24.76

If valve cant even keep their source code and other resources secure how can anyone trust them to create a secure application?
With normal games it wouldn;t really matter, but with steam running in the background, I would think its only a matter of time until someone figures out an exploit for it. and then that person would have control over millions of computers.

Ray, you dont seem to understand.
It is only in the USA that a software idea can be patented(though the corps are buying those laws in the EU right now...)

If id had started patenting stuff when it made wolf3d or doom or quake, there would be NO FPS's out right now that would not belong to id

The USA is just going to get screwed over by patents.

China is already starting to officially ignore USA drug patents, so I highly doubt they are even going to care one bit about software patents.

Any new company in the USA wont be able to inovate or invent new software, because of the overly general language used in previous software patents. Established companies will be able to suppress them, or force them to sell out.

Gandhi: Someone needs to tell all the corporations that their intellectual property is not being stolen by the Chinese.

intellectual property is only a crime if the local government wants it to be.

China just threw out viagra's patents, so now chinese companies can make it without paying money to US corps. If they do this for more stuff, the USA will be fucked.

stupid message board formatting tags...

or just use cd keygen. generate corp key, and then you dont have the product calling home, and you can change as much hardware as you want, and it wont stop working either.

"ou sound like one of those people crapping on a movie for not doing justice to the book. It's a different media."

Welll, thats a stupid statement.
Take Several Examples.

Fight Club: Did justice to the book, very faithfull to it.

Starship Troopers: Not really like the book at all, but atleast it was entertaining. Only thing related to the book is the character names, but even some of their sexes changed.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: didnt follow the comic that much at all, and it is is crap.

So yes, it is valid to compare things to their origin.

dagok is the only one here being a troll
And a stupid one at that.

it all started from his comment "$40 means nothing to me,"
which if you look at it is a pretty stuck up thing to say.
and the response to it by someone else
"if $40 means nothing to you, I am up for donations "
is really mild.

dagok then sinks down even lower
"Save the sexual favor comments for your mom."
and lower still.
"go fuck yourself, pimply-faced pussies."

So I think its clear to all that dagok is a cock.

I dont think they did TFC either. Didnt they just hire the original teamfortress people, and tfc was to tide people over until TF2 got released....

The main pro gun agument that makes sense, is that you need your automatic weapons to keeep the government down. But then you sound like a crazy wacko that should be living in a desert somewhere with multiple wives

Im pretty sure Halflife will not have it.
Its just going to have physics toys like Max Payne 2.
Redfaction only let you destroy dirt, and not much of it. Buildings were still invincible.

Silent Storm, the isometric game, had some of the best building damage in a game that I have seen recently.
Your guys hear a german walking on the other side of a wall or on the floor above you, and your heavy mg'er can blast a hole right through killing him.
Or you could use heavy explosive to create shortcuts.
