Lame. Grid is a good game. Wtf is wrong with them though? If you're shutting down the servers, release a patch to allow us direct connections. |

Current market as opposed to 'people who played duke3d'? People who played Duke3D want Duke3D with good graphics. Most of that was there. Modern game design as per Gearbox Software's m.o. means Half-Life-esque pacing.
The statements regarding graphics, cobbled togetherness, etc are lost on me. The game felt tight and addressed puzzles, had all the guns, updated baddies and attempted to mix some modern elements with the old ones. Albeit the new elements don't belong in Duke, I won't deny that, and if by disjointed, that is what you mean, I can totally agree.
However, when I say that the market (people) doesn't know what it wants, I'm saying that there are those who want iron sights, cover based combat with chest high walls, and a 'realistic limit' on the number of guns they can carry while they endlessly jog and fire high power weapons at distant targets without ever wavering.
After all these years, I can settle on this and say, hey at least it shipped and it was fun.
Maybe I would settle for a cocaine encrusted piece of Broussard turd in a box too. I don't know, this is what Pitchford shipped.

Nothing wrong with the game really, but people don't know what they want, and after all these years, no matter what comes out, it won't be what they expected. Like someone else said on here, don't expect Call of Duty and you'll have fun. Or maybe people know exactly what they want and DNF didn't meet their expectations. It's all about the execution to me. I can get over the janky graphics and little things but it feels too disjointed and the Duke World dystopia was totally the wrong way to play the sequel. |

People are funny. DNF is a perfectly fun game that tried some modern tactics with an old model. Nothing wrong with the game really, but people don't know what they want, and after all these years, no matter what comes out, it won't be what they expected. Like someone else said on here, don't expect Call of Duty and you'll have fun.
Yeah, two weapon limit is lame. |

Nothing beats the G25, and no game beats Codemasters Dirt(1,2,or 3) or Grid for the perfect mix of fun factor and simulation realism.
Want a real racing simulation? Get the G25, a PC, and download rFactor. Don't play around with 'Forza'. Forza is for fucktard children who don't know what real driving is. And Nascar fans.
Save me, Tom Cruise. |

Another site preyed on in the morrow. These hackers waging wanton battle on these spires to what purpose!? I go red when I think of the lack of guard against those pushing the games industry to the brink of oblivion. Every site on the skyrim of fallout just makes me rage like a demon hunted... in a forge.... okay, I'll stop.

I've found that folks vilifying DNF are simply doing so for attention. DNF is a perfectly fine game on its own. Great shoot'em up gameplay, and fantastic non-shooting bits, on top of a consistent atmosphere that is kept up throughout the game. If I had any complaints, it would be that it milked the Duke 3D history a bit too hard, without giving any love to all the other Duke adventures (Land of the Babes, etc). Not that I didn't notice all the little asides (Proton tires on The Might Foot, etc).
Yes, it was short, but frankly I'm pleased with it. Size isn't everything.
Back on point though, yea, seeing Call of Duty on the list multiple times, is in fact what I was referring to. |

There's a reason all the software megacorps hold regular hackathon competitions with thousands of dollars in prizes. It's so they learn and their softwares don't cause people millions of dollars in damages. |
