Next, they announced TF2 is moved to HL's engine, as a stand alone release. No screenshots of it were given for a long time.
Then, they release TFC, saying it was both a promotional item for TF2, and TFS practice mod to prep it for TF2 Hmm, I could've sworn they were planning on releasing TF2 as an retail-product add-on a few months after HL came out. Remember all the desert camo screenshots? Later, they decided to make it a standalone product on an updated/modified/next generation HL1 engine, which was the last screenshots and videos we got to see of it.

Nobody is twisting your arm to buy or even play Painkiller. Don't like the requirements or limitations, then don't buy it and stop your whining over something you havent even payed for. I'm looking at my PainKiller box right now, and I see nothing that says my specific DVD-ROM and CD-RW will not work with this game. I also see nothing about virtual drives or debuggers. I'd very much appreciate them telling me what is required to play the game I bought.

Toronto company dreams of heavenly returns with new computer game Painkiller.
When I read that I thought they meant game returns (to the store), due to the wonderful copy protection it has.

The one thing I'm bumming about at the moment is there aren't enough people plying PK multi at the moment. Maybe that's because they can't play the fucking game?
Ba-ZING!

The copy protection scheme used on Painkiller (Macrovision SafeDisc) is commonly used in the game's industry on major titles. It and other such systems are primarily to prevent the casual copying of games which ultimately hurts everyone, developers, publishers, and end consumers alike. Then tell me, rstevenson, why I could hop on eMule the other day and find multiple ISOs of Painkiller yet can't play the game I not only pre-ordered, but also paid overnight shipping for? It seems like the only ones being affected are the legitimate customers, as the copy protection is doing jack shit to even curve piracy.

The story goes on to speculate about Warren Spector's possible participation in the design of a console multiplayer action game set in the Deus Ex world. You have got to be fucking kidding me.

I can't believe all you losers played this game. Does it give you enough time to lick off your cheeto encrusted fingers as you take breaks to watch the end of your latest star trek reruns on UPN? I don't like Star Trek, but I love Myst, so you lose.
LOSER!

Is it just me or do these forums get stupider everyday? It's just the internet in general, sir.
I don't like the idea of this "timed-trial," assuming it's 'Two hours and then you can't play it again' and not like the old timed-demos like GTA1 had (where you had, like, five minutes and then it's over. Which, then, you could restart the game and play it again for another five minutes).
I prefer to be able to play my demos over and over to get a feel for the game. While I admit two hours is a good amount of time, I like to really get into the game to see if I'm going to plunk down my cash for it. So up with normal demos, down with timed!

It's being done by Gray Matter. If their single-player portion of Return to Castle Wolfenstein was a show-off of their results, then stay as far away as you can from this CoD add-on.

Thanks nin and Bronco, I'll check those out when I get home.
While my computer does run rather hot, I'm pretty sure it's not a heat issue (unless BF:V somehow makes my computer hotter faster than UT2k4 %)).

The problem I've been having is my computer likes to randomly restart while playing BF:V, and I'm on a Geforce FX. See what you make of that!

Blue, the solution to your Battlefield Vietname woes is simple:
switch to UT2K4 This is what I'm doing; having much fun with the perfect UT2k4 untill DICE releases some patches to make BF:V, you know, playable.

This is sick. I'm tired of snow.
Guess it won't help to tell you that our highs in Atlanta will all be in the 60's this week, with lows in the mid 40s?
The cherry and pear trees are already in bloom, with dogwoods following in the next couple of weeks. Most spring flowers are already blooming or about to bloom (tulips). And our entire world should be turning yellow from the pine pollen in 2-3 weeks as well. Spring? Spring?! Spring totally passed us here in Phoenix. It's in the freakin' 90's already!
