Nope, Zig, you're incorrect. If you can't tell the CD check is happening, then you're lucky. Obviously some people can. For me, I can see the Windows taskbar pop up with a little ghost task that stays there for several seconds... and of course the CD starts turning up. Takes a while to finally make it to the loading screen. And after all that, just getting the message that it couldn't connect to the freakin server, one begins to get a bit annoyed.

Admittedly, it seems to last 'no as long' as before the patch.

And damn... they are STILL checking the CD ever time I reconnect to a server. Sheesh... that is just REdiculous.

Dude Da, for 20 bucks a year I get speedy access from Gamespot... now that's a deal. And by the way Blue, Gamespot also has the download for its Complete members.

Ok. That too.

But it sounds like MUCH more than a mod... and yes, less than an all out sequel.

I guess the difference could be said the a stand-alone expansion is a game that uses the same technology as the previous and 'expands' on gameplay elemants of the original (multi-player)... and it doesn't require the need for the original to be installed.

That's my best guess, anyway.

If it's coming out in 2004, here's hoping the game ends up looking a bit more realistic than that screenshot. That pic reminds me of Wheel of Time.

Yep, they're the same shots 'pretty much' everyone has been showing.

Ignoring the 3rd person speak... What 'seems' strange? They look like nothing revolutionary, but still fantastic.

30 bucks for add-on...sheesh. I'll hold my Oh boy's until I find it for a more reasonable price.

Oh... if only I could pay half and get the SP portion.

It probably has something to do with keeping this great website strong. That... I'm cool with.

On a more meaningful note, none of these compare to that awesome movie of Stalker. DAMN!.. that looks good.

Edit: Although it would be nice to have my explorer bar ON and still have the whole page fit on screen without scrolling.

Well this game has done something that it seems half of the big budget titles can't do... recognize in the menu system that I have my primary mouse button set to the right button. Oooohh Joy.

Even though their website still says Q2.

Good news though. There's enough games to play these days, and I'd prefer this one come out highly refined.

Although this is really a fascinating discussion on download speeds, good sites with free downloads, bad sites with free downloads, and what have you... has anyone tried out this demo? Is it worth the download?
