MAFIA had this years ago.

Well, yeah, Mafia did have it. But there was very little to do in the environment, and moving at 30 miles an hour made racing through the countryside a little not exciting.

But I did love the game, and the countryside did add to the atmosphere of the city. Imagine the same thing with GTA, but with a ton of different things to do in it.

Done: http://www.webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=value

And this is from Gamespot:
Value
For the most part, a game's value score is an indicator of the game's longevity. It represents how long you'll be able to both play and enjoy the game, and it also signifies how much replay value you'll get out of it. Breadth of gameplay options and overall volume of content both weigh heavily into this score. The retail price of a game can also figure into the value score, as can the presence or lack of similar, competitive products in the market. Finally, the overall quality of the game has some impact on its value, so, for instance, a bad game that's extremely long is still probably not worth playing.

Now what was the point again?

I'm guessing that is because of the short time to complete, yes? I certainly wouldn't call that the most important thing.

13. Re: Riddick vs HL2 Dec 10, 2004, 20:51 Stolk

Edit: Gamespot just gave riddick a 9.3. Higher than 9.2 for HL2. Hmmmm...

Gamespot is in the habit lately of overthinking big name games, and they are absolute suckers for a suprise hit. I'm sure Riddick is good, but I'll be suprised if I think it is better than Half Life 2. I really don't think anything can beat Valve's subtle telling of the Half Life story through gameplay. But hey, if Riddick is better, all the happier!

The only thing thing that seems to be lacking is the pysics of HL2.

The physics in HL2 is pretty fricken critical to its gaming goodness.

Well he's right. Your post was rude and unnecessary. Just be cool and tell the guy he's wrong.

I've been in beta and it ain't a sorry mess. I'm very excited for this game. By the way, many current beta members might just recognize their characters in some of these screenshots. Wink, wink.

HL2 is very very good but i played thru HL:Source and realized, besides gx, little has changed in 6 years.

Lord you've lost your mind. Very much is different. But actually, Half Life has changed in 6 years, called Half Life Source.

42. Re: Here is what I didn't like about the end Dec 3, 2004, 13:08 Stolk

IvyMike, in response to your secret text, perhaps the G-man is not capable of saving and reloading, and clearly Gordan is.

I'll have to go along with the squad complaints. I loved pretty much the entire game and story and ending. But I was yelling out loud at my squad to get the hell out of my way on many occasion. The awkward silence of trying to get them to just move out of the way for 30 seconds.

Ok, I also didn't like the 'defend this area' area with the 2 hallways.

Edit: Oh yeah, I like the way Freedom Fighters handled the squad issue. You could just run right through them. But I guess with Half Life 2's wonderful and realistic physics Valve just couldn't do that.

As concise an explanation of the press release as you could ever hope for.

But let's face it, Valve aren't doing away with publishers, they're BECOMING a publisher. I can see the time a few years down the line when STEAM has been spun off into a seperate company and closes the doors on Valve because it's no longer profitable. Remember, we all loved EA when they started.

Your posting this just hoping you end up being right, right? It'll be very difficult spinning off technology that is tightly integrated within your own software. Are you saying Steam would ditch Valve because Valve is no longer profitable?

I have to imagine that it is true, considering the functionality of Steam. Once the key is mapped to your login, ditch the CD installation, and install the game via Steam. Seems to me like it would have to work.

I like this, using this as an opportunity to take a shot at Vivendi. It's obvious Valve has had enough of them.

Sadogoat, wow - you managed to post the exact same thing in at least three different forums within minutes of each other. Don't you forum trolls have a bloody life?

I'll reply to this one as well, just to say that at least the original poster had some actual substance in his post.
