Squeezed in 20 minutes this morning. Made it to level 4, accumulated 2000 gold, and bought a few items at the AH.

After 4 hours of the servers being live, the AH was already brimming with every item you could want to buy.

Wow, buying items at level 4. This is definitely a different Diablo.

For the record, I am assuming you mean the Gold Auction House. The Real Money Auction House is thankfully locked for a week, hopefully the D3 servers will survive that storm better than the release day nonsense, so I can play.

My copy is currently sitting on a truck somewhere, supposedly en route.

Yep, just the gold AH right now. They make it too easy...grabbing items that are 3 times better than what you were previously carrying on the cheap. It takes just minutes to leave the game, find some better items, buy them, put them in your stash, and retrieve them in-game.

Some purists might not like it, but I appreciate the ability to "streamline" my gameplay experience.

There will be the inevitable comparisons to the single-player game, and at least from a graphics position, I doubt very much it will be able to stand up to a fully modded Skyrim.

And unless they have miraculously figured out something nobody else has, this won't be deviating much from the "Gather X of Y, and do it Z times" formula.

Basically, instead of taking 50-100 hours of gameplay to get Daedric armor, it's going to take 1000. Enjoy!

So we're starting to see some things from their "Game Jam" back in December. Awesome.

They may as well have said "ME3 is the biggest launch of March 6th, 2012!!! No other title has come close!"

Gotta love the marketing people.

Requires Origin. Thanks a lot Creston, this is all your fault!

I have Privateer and System Shock installed, does that count?

Perhaps. I also have Ultima 7 running in a DOS VM, does that count?

I'm a little less enthusiastic about the Steam workshop integration with Skyrim now that it became clear that Steam going down kills not only the mods, but also the ability's to launch the game. I hope the system is made more robust; otherwise it's a fantastic feature.

What? You can launch the game with Steam in offline mode.

In fact, I did that several times on purpose when I blocked Steam access through my firewall because I was suspicious of a new Skyrim patch.

If only they had this at release. Oh well. They'll have another chance to do it right with Skyrim 2, I suppose.

This is precisely why I'm not in any hurry to finish the game.

Only level 21 on a few chars (just messing with different builds), have only scratched the surface of the main quest line, only have 2 of the 8 masks on one toon, etc.

I knew this game would only get better and better.

You have to sip it like a fine wine that only comes out every 5 years.

If this is true, it will be interesting to see how much, if any, of the most popular and highest quality texture mods will be invalidated.

At this point, one of my biggest gripes texture-wise is the pathetic excuse for snow and ice that appears on walls in places like Winterhold.

Very nice. Bethesda's support seems to improve with time rather than degrade; a welcome oddity in the PC gaming world.

^D^

Makes it easier to justify supporting a game if it's selling bazillions of copies I suppose.

Using the 4GB launcher with the Enhanced Shaders package (with built in frame limiter), super tweaked ini, increased view distance (uGrids=7), 16x AA, SSAO, vsync off, and all is well.

I find that with vsync on, the mouse is still not "right" with this patch.

$250 keyboard? $140 mouse? $130 headset? $50 dollar mouse pad? $60 client? $15 per month? Getting scammed by Lucas/EA/Bioware/Razer? Priceless...for them.

ROFLMAO. A sucker really is born every minute.

$60 for the client? Whoever spends that kind of money on peripherals will certainly be getting the Collector's Edition for $150.

You dont have to have steam auto patch games, its a option on a per game basis (in the properties, under update). i tend to do this for all bethesda games i buy - cause i am totally sick of putting a fire extinguisher next to my PC every time they patch one of there games.

As many people have posted, and as I've seen myself on many games, Steam will just randomly stop honoring your specific selection and update the game anyway.

And with the Skyrim 1.1 patch, I think they basically trumped everyone intentionally because that was a critical fix for their DRM.

Apparently someone has already modified the FNV4GB.EXE, used to allow Fallout New Vegas to be Large Address Aware, to work with Skyrim. I'll be keeping tabs on that development for 100% confirmation it works before I remove my Windows firewall rule blocking all access by steam.exe.
