By that logic, just as long as a publisher is willing to patch something, we should never complain at the state that something is launched.

Sorry, but that doesn't fly.

They pulled the game out of stores, physical and digital. That's not just "willing to patch it". You'll never see EA pull a Battlefield game, and those are always a disaster at launch. Batman isn't back on Steam, the current patch is an interim for those who still want to play the game anyway.

Also, Half-Elf, it won't be terribly surprising if the game will always need 4gb of video memory to run at max settings. As more games are made to use the 8gb that consoles have, more games will need 4gb or more on PC to use everything at max.

But games like Witcher 3 and Mad Max make me think that "needing" 4GB or more of video RAM is mostly a case of poor optimization. I'm running GTX 970's and don't drop below 60fps with either of those titles with everything maxed at 2560x1440. They're smooth as butter at all times.

Unlike another recent WB published game I could mention, seems this one's PC port was done right. Not really a surprise though coming from Avalanche.

I bought Witcher 3 the other day and played 10 minutes. It's all I had time for but I already love it and can tell it's going to be an amazing journey

Don't worry, you probably have a minimum of 99.83% of your expected play time left to go!

Skipping the boot-up splash screens? Seems like a 5-minute programming job.

Well this actually looks....kind of cool...

Strange title though, made me think of the movie.

Exactly...they'll need to get Morgan Freeman to do the main voiceovers.

Novigrad blew me away.

Couldn't believe they actually pulled off a realistic looking city with hundreds of people in the street (maximum npc population on my rig.)

Seriously, there's no excuse for future games not to have that level of detail.

We're looking at you Ubisoft! Learn 2 optimize!

See, this is a game I expect to have Xbox Live support on PC, as well. Making a distinction between Win10 and Steam seems to imply it'll be sold on the Windows App Store, doesn't it? I guess it's time to get used to that now, too...

And that it will likely be a Windows 10 exclusive for PC?

I've not found any reason to choose anything other than Firefox with noscript for the last 10 years or so.

And speed? That's pretty funny... apparently Microsoft is still developing for 1990s.

Firefox is always seizing up on me. I now use Chrome for almost everything. Chrome spins each tab off on a separate process, so it's impossible for a rogue page to bring down everything else.

I would not be surprised if it's never re-released for PC. They will delay and delay and delay until it fades from memory....except for those who already bought it and never get it fixed properly.

These guys are awesome. If it were some other company's title (say, Ubisoft), we'd be waiting on critical performance enhancements or fixes for crippling bugs instead of thoroughly enjoying the game. Glad I'm taking a sloth-like, OCD, completionist, smell-the-roses path through this gem.

Why are people pre-ordering Fallout 4? Are they afraid Steam might run out? Forchrisake, there aren't even any pre-order bonuses. Why give a company your hard-earned money now? Stop the insanity!

I know everyone's got the torches lit and carting those pitchforks around...but this is Kotaku who's reporting it. That's like reading it in the tabloids.

Any real sources out there?

I don't believe any sources are needed at all to confirm what we already knew/know....everyone from the PC dev group to QA to Rocksteady to WB knew full well the PC port was going to be a POS going out the door.

Now with the Steam refund system in place, I would think we won't see another instance of a PC port as bad as this again...or the dev/pub will simply choose to not make one.

Witcher 3 DLC = minor ripples in a vast sea of ?'s.

90+ hours into it and have just barely scratched the surface of content in Skellige. Loving every minute.
