Admirable that they get together and set up a letter like this.
I bet my left hand that there are lots more of similar bad working conditions out there, but people just take it and never say a word because they fear consequences.

I know it happens quite commonly here in Germany nowadays.

10. Re: Blizzard Discouraging WoW Account Restorations, Considering Mandatory Authenticators Jan 8, 2010, 15:54 Muscular Beaver

I doubt its always people who get on phishing sites or similar.
What I noticed far more often in the support forums is that people share their account info with friends and family and sooner or later someone is mad at them and messes around in their account for revenge.

Also there was this Allakhazam trojan, which installed itself when you visited Allakhazam (a trustworthy website until then) because it was implemented in some banner by hackers. My friend got it and his account was wiped clean.

Oh and a few months ago I got a tell from someone named "Blizzardusa", or something like that, in-game that told me that there was an issue with my account and that I would be disconnected now and I should visit a website that sounded very similar to Blizzards sites.

Normally I wouldnt have bothered, but there was an incident with Blizzard a few weeks before that. They banned my account and gave me a final warning without any reason. Took me 4 weeks to finally get my issue forwarded to a supervisor and all actions were canceled instantly.

So I was extremely frightened that something similar might have happened again and in the first few seconds I really thought about going there, but I got to my senses soon enough to notice that there was no Blizzard icon with his name.

Youre not. I dont like a single one of them. Though, I still tried most of them because they were hyped so much all the time. I couldnt play em for more than 3 hours though. You said it very well... they lack a soul, they feel extremely sterile.

As if the publishers/devs care, its all about keeping your third Porsche these days anyway....

That smartass down in the comments said it already. Even gamers like him dont know/care anymore that games were art once.

The myth is that any country besides Switzerland has true democracy. Its more like the communism in Russia was. It was never true communism (nor in any other country that claimed to be communistic).

Because of the events in the recent past, even the most numb people should have noticed that by now. Its only going to get worse from now on.

Im not directly comparing them, I am talking about PC games in general. They mostly have been dumbed down console ports in the last few years. ArmA 2 being a real PC game again with lots of content, complex gameplay and visuals that actually raised the bar again (Crysis being the last in 2007). If you look at Dragon Age and compare it to what we got 10 years ago, it hasnt evolved much, and has actually devolved in many regards. ArmA 2 has evolved in almost all areas.

Going to try this game again. There were a few issues that really bothered me, but funnily they all seem to be fixed with the latest patch. That really surprised me.

Anyways, it has great potential and IMO, even though it has huge issues, it should still be Game of the Year for the PC. There simply are no comparable PC games anymore, not even Dragon Age.

I dont? So, they had 2 years of time and LOTS and LOTS of funds.

Guess thats not enough for Blizzard to add another short CGI movie.
But youre right, if I read your comments, I guess they actually did well. Why should they put so much money into it when they can sell cheap stuff like that for the price of a full game to people like you?

These ingame cinematics are a joke. When I saw the Wrathgate one, the first thought was "WTF, why so cheap??? where did all my money go??? in some cheap in-game graphics cutscene like you see em everywhere on youtube???".

It was really bad. Before that one, Blizzard was well known for fantasic breathtaking cutscenes (I always wanted them to make an animated motion picture), but this one really disappointed me in many different ways and made me lose even more respect for Blizzard.

News Comments > ARMA 2 Interview
18. Re: ARMA 2 Interview Dec 1, 2009, 17:23 Muscular Beaver

I really wanted to like this game, but after a while it has a few large flaws that keep me from playing it.

The biggest one is the vegetation interfering with gameplay. You simply cant see whats going on around you because everywhere bushes or trees block the view. But if you turn the details down, the game looks awful. So what should you do? I tried it on full detail, but only died every second. Why? because on top of this issue the AI can see through most vegetation (especially the ones on the ground or fallen trees). You know, when I crawl on the ground through pretty high grasses, I simply dont think anyone should see me. But the AI can. To them the grass simply doesnt exist. So they see you very well.

I tried some multiplayer mission where the grass is deactivated (most have that as default anyways since people know how fucking unfair it is) and it was fun for a while, but you know something is missing. And the AI can still see through leaves and if you fired 1 shot, everyone knows where you are and even disembarked tank crew will snipe you from 300 m away with a single bullet in the head with their shortened AKs.

If thats simulation, I sure am happy that I can choose to not play it.
I am a huge realism fan, but this is clearly over the top. Tanks have become pretty useless now too since they get destroyed far easier than in OFP or ArmA1. In OFP you could fire 6 LAW on a M1A1 and then it was toast. In ArmA 2 its 2, then youre either dead or you cant fire or move anymore. Yes, in OFP it was possible with a very well placed shot to disable a tanks main gun, but in ArmA 2 you dont need to show skills like that anymore. 2 shots and its gone. No point in picking up armor in the first place anymore. And Thats also why these vehicles are always deserted on multiplayer maps.

Oh and the "island" is far, far smaller than the huge and many islands in OFP. Its pretty, but it gets old quick. After a few rounds of Domination you have seen it all.

there are more small reasons that drive me nuts in the sum, but Im tired and want to watch a movie.

Yeah I am probably too sensitive to such problems. As I said, it isnt really a problem. The service still works, but for me and others its noticeably slower than before the merge, especially in the account management. Log in in-game takes about 2-3 secs longer than before. account management about 5-10 secs longer.

Oh and btw, I didnt wait until the last day. It was about 2 weeks ago, maybe more. My friend and his wife merged theirs months ago, but he also instantly said that it takes longer to log in now because I asked him about how it works.

But I guess I am really extremely stupid to expect good service from Blizzard. I should put on the blinders like you guys.

So you subscribe to the WoW Player mantra of "If I have a problem, and millions of others don't, it's still Blizzard's fault."

Weird that its reported all over the forums then, if I am the only then. Also WG lag is nonexistent I guess, or still servers who have queues and crash regularly.

Ignorance is bliss, huh?
"If I dont see it, its not there"

Alright, Im sorry, I have insulted your deity.

Its no problem of the firewall. That was already mentioned by the wannabe support that Blizzard gives.

Its not really a huge problem, but its obvious that its slower now than before.

Since I merged it, about 2 weeks ago, I noticed that logging in the game takes a bit longer, and also logging in Account Management takes extremely long. It was bad before, but today I got extremely mad because every click took ages.

Maybe some day Blizzard will learn to get hardware and bandwidth thats enough to provide a seamless service.

...

Maybe not...

Sadly, Computer Bild is part of one of the biggest publisher in Germany and doesnt really have to fear consequnces if they turned something like that down. So I highly doubt smaller ones would have turned them down because they would fear to no longer receive review samples in time or wont get any more interviews, etc.
