How do you get it to use all your ram? I tried the different methods of forcing it to use more ram, but they didn't work. 1.4GB is the most it will use and the rest of my ram sits there doing notta. I thought about putting the entire game into ram, but I don't have anywhere near the required 12 gigs for that. I have set up a HDD to be used as my swap file. It's the only things that drives does. Still no luck. I'm gonna try some more things today. You guys have inspired me. It's such a cool game. I spent so much time in Operation Flashpoint (Original) and want to play this one.

As I said, I use a RAMDisk. I dont load everything onto it, just the most frequently accessed or the ones where LoD trashing is most noticeable (for examples buildings or vehicles). The more RAM you have, the more you can put on it and it gets smoother and smoother.

You have to decide how big it should be. Mine is only about 700 MB (at 4 GB RAM) because for some reason ArmA 2 stutters a lot on Domination maps if I use more.

For more info:

Dont forget to include the sign files on the RAMDisk too, if you play MP.

Cant wait for it. One of the last few games that dont make me feel bad after spending 50 Euro on it, because its worth 10,000 times more than the average 4 hours of gameplay of PC games, console ports.

Concerning performance issues: ArmA2 really loves a quadcore (more than 4 threads slows it down, though). Had a E8400 @ 4 GHZ before and now a i5-750 @ 3.8 GHz and the performance is much, much better.
Theres still that annoying LoD trashing, but that can be decreased by using a RAMdisk and an SSD. Im actually thinking about buying another 4 GB just because of this game.
Oh and you really dont need a fast video card for it. My GTX 260 can run that game fast enough at 1680 at max details and 16x AF and 4x AA.

I love Star Wars, I even like Episode 1-3 to some extend. But this game was just horrible.
The controls were extremely crappy and generally the whole game seemed to me like a childs game and an extremely shitty console game. Both the characters and the story seemed to have written by some 12 year old fanboy with a boner...
I really dont care for a second part.

EAX is the main reason for me for Creative cards.
But since Vista its kinda useless (except youre still playing older games (pre-2007)) because MS removed sound from DX. Too bad though, since it had a lot of potential and sounded awesome. But I guess you cant really expect a good sound system with realistic effects from console ports anyway. So who needs EAX nowadays?

Anyway, I want a new X-Fi driver that fixes the console not starting bug...

Same. With 1.05 this game is finally running smooth and very playable too, even for die hard critics (unless they are just trolls).
Cant wait for this expansion, and I am hoping this wont be the last.
I just hope ACE2 dies.

The sad thing is, right now in Germany 3 games with such a DRM are in the TOP 4 of the sale charts.
AC2, Settlers 7 & C&C4...

If I would look at capitalism and only used Ubisoft as an example, I would think it is about to die.
Seriously, all their "efforts" seem to me like someone who left all logic behind, because he is about to die.

I would love to play SH5 (despite the bugs), I would love to play Splinter Cell, and me and my mother would love to play Settlers 7. But no go with this draconic DRM.
After I told my mother about this BS, she instantly said "forget it then". I didnt even need to explain further.

Sorry Ubi, but no more money from me (I bought lots of your titles before). I would really like to know how they came to the idea to put something idiotic into their games. They are a french company, and thats why they should know very well how people react to something like that.

Please Ubi, release the PC sales numbers of your DRM infested crap.
If they would really be so great, wouldnt you have posted them already? I mean that would be the perfect defense for your DRM, wouldnt it?

Just FYI, Ive had my account as long and Ive gotten lots of emails from Blizzard when my prepaid card ran out for example (3 days ahead) or when they locked my account for whatever reason or when I changed my password or any other information.
Looks like your spamfilter is too agressive.

I doubt they would explain it that thoroughly when they wont send you emails at all:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=965511383&sid=1
If what you say would be true, they would simply say "THERE ARE NO EMAILS FROM US!".
I really would like to know where you got that bullshit from...

You guys have prolly fallen to phishing mails. They look EXACTLY like original blizzard mails (even the mail address and link address are the same). Im getting mails like that almost every day where they claim that my account was compromised and locked and I need to unlock it, etc.
I almost fell for it aswell.

For the consoles, for the PC the only competition they face is from TF2. The game's actually fun and has good gfx, but needs desperately the dedicated servers. Otherwise consider this a TF2-lite with a Western theme.
Lite? Even simpler than TF2?
So its basically DMC?

On another note, I hope Monolith's lack of involvement means they are working on something new... or at least a much-anticipated sequel to something old, like Blood or NOLF.
You dont really want a sequel to NOLF2 or Blood if its going to be a console port anyways.
