There ARE some very good games on that list. Maybe one day MS will actually make GFWL a decent service instead of a rancid shit-pile pain in the ass.

Decent service? What for?
They should simply remove it! We dont need 12 different versions of Steam.

Looks like you won't be doing much PC gaming going forward then. Heck, gaming in general even.

Exactly. Right now I am only playing ArmA 2 and some old RPGs (those that you actually owned and that after 12 years are still playable because they had no AF DRM).

Steam is still DRM that eliminates used sales and other customer rights and freedoms. Thats why I dont have it installed anymore and I surely wont install it for this game.
Sorry, but I am completely against all this patronizing bullshit and turning the PC into a console, so I surely wont give in to a little lesser version of it.

News Comments > StarCraft II is Year's Biggest PC Game Launch
16. Re: StarCraft II is Year's Biggest PC Game Launch Aug 3, 2010, 12:53 Muscular Beaver

PC Gaming itself will never die, unless the PC dies altogether.
But PC Gaming is already not even close to what it was a few years ago anymore and thus dead as it once was. That wouldnt be a problem if it was just changing as in getting better, but its actually getting worse and worse. Gameplay getting simpler and simpler, features getting cut each release, graphics being worse or max. as good as 3 years ago, content getting less and less, prices going up, patronizing getting more and more (gameplay-wise and DRM-wise), etc, etc.

For me SC2 is no real PC game either. Its somewhere between console port and real PC game. Most of the game is hype anyway.

Yeah it was simple and had almost no plot, but the atmosphere was fantastic.
I didnt even really try to play the 2nd part because it was crappy right from the start.
I just hope it will be similar to the first part. I could use a stupid dungeon hack and slash game again, thats simply beautiful.

I vaguely remember the fanboys that always claimed that Valves anti cheat crap is "unfailable".

Prior to this there were only about seven false positives reported, so until now it was fair enough to call it infallible, fanboy or not.

Theres always at least one that will never learn I guess.

Their shares went down ~36% since April and 80% since mid 2008.
I would jump off while I still can, like EA did.

Nah, it hits right near the target. You can see the bullet hit something invisible right in front of it.
Happens to me quite often since I use sniper rifles from far away a lot.
Guess at least they cant see me and dont fire back at me.

ArmA II engine is very stable as far as I can tell, Ant. I don't see any bug complaints other then one rare one involving MG nests on the forums. That one's just a nuisance, sometimes you can't kill a guy who is mounted to a machine gun.

Other then that the game runs great on my system. Course I've never had problems with crashes even in ArmA 1, but like I said, the forums seem happy enough.

I know usually ArmA demos suck, it's usually an early version of the code, but this is well into the ArmA II engine's life.

To be fair, its not really perfect.
The bug you mentioned can happen with anything. If stuff is far away from you behind a small hill or ledge and you zoom in with a scope, you sometimes can see over that ledge (most of the time when you are prone). When you try to shoot the target, it will just hit the invisible hill in front of it.
Also the engine has a lot of Z-Fighting when zooming in. It even pisses me off sometimes.

jimnms,
the AI in ArmA 2 is the best real AI you can get in a game nowadays. They are completely independent and make choices on their own all the time.
There simply is no AI out there that is comparable with it, because the others are restricted with scripts, waypoints, very limited choices and do not communicate with each other.
Sure, it has its flaws, but if it wouldnt, it would be the perfect AI. And that simply isnt possible right now.

If you think its a little unfair, which it seems sometimes, then I would suggest playing with the ACE2 mod. The AI is slightly improved in it, so it isnt as uber anymore and seems more realistic. However, the game is easier that way, too.

How much does Bohemia Interactive pay you to constantly plug their games?

Yeah lol. To anyone considering buying Any of the ARMA games... Make sure it's what you really want before you buy it. Try before you buy. The ARMA series is really designed for the most hardcore "simulation" aficionados and requires a lot of patience and a high-end computer. Buyer beware.

You just cant stop trolling about ArmA, even though people demasked your ignorance several times, huh?

Anyway, if possible, you should try every game out ther ebefore buying.

This game doesnt need a high end computer. My $500 rig can run it at max settings wonderfully.

Good. Hopefully shows some people that criticism is important. I might actually try Cataclysm now.

Anyone tried the Carbonite addon? I read it is still able to read RealIDs in-game.
