Verno wrote on Nov 23, 2010, 07:19: The time where WoW was a must play/must buy thing has long since passed. I actually disagree, I have had an account (not active) since launch. I've played numerous times but quit due to the grind/getting bored.
I purchased Cataclysm, and been playing since the release of v4.0. I used to think like you, but the amount of polish, changes and content they've added and tweaked to WoW is absolutely astounding.
As someone who has noticed the sheer amount of change that has taken place with this game (since i've only played very casually); I can tell you this game is worth every penny, especially now.
World of Warcraft has re-invented itself. Cataclysm is going to devour my soul, as I begin leveling my main.
Everyone else who calls themselves gamers, thumbing their nose at this without actually giving it a chance, are just simply arrogant geezers.
As a Gamer, I would say WoW is a masterpiece, and quite possibly the greatest game ever created. Uh, youre talking of the same 4.0 that I play, right? Its the biggest buggy POS Ive ever seen in a game. They broke so many things that in the first 2 weeks I found about 10-20 bugs per day and even now, after 4 weeks I still find at least 1 bug per day. Some of them game breaking like the gunship bug in IoC or the several glitches in raid instances. And so far they have maybe fixed 5% of them. Polished my ass.
P.S.: maintenance increased to 5 pm. |

It's really not complex. "Being a part of a blockbuster Hollywood movie" has long been an aim of video games. It's not a byproduct of poor design mechanics, it is the design mechanic. Not really. Its a cash cow. Why do complex and generally good games for a few people when you can make meh games which are simplistic beyond belief for the masses?
As I said so many times before: Games are not about art anymore. They are now solely about money. |

I just want Tribes 1 gameplay with better graphics. T2 and T3 were far too slow (though T3 beta looked very good, but was slowed down in release). Is that so much to ask for? |

Holy crap, they lifted him by grabbing his legs when he broke it? WTF??? Maybe he can sue Blizzard for some phat cash.
Anyways, I just started playing WoW again and holy crap that new patch made the game unbelievably buggy in many ways. I seriously wonder how it got out of early beta... Not to mention the HUGE balance issues.

I've been in the beta for 3mo? 4mo something stupid like that and I probably won't be resubbing because of the current state of healing, and how messed up it is(it feels exactly like warhammer). I mean really. Woo! I have CH which heals for a 2:4 HPM ratio, and costs 3/4 as much as our new AoE heal(~10.5k mana), which also heals for squat when you have 70-100k HP pools. Uh? Loving the whole lalala boss spams AOE at 5-9k a pop and my nomalized 3sec heal heals for 5-7k and crits for 16k.
edit: ~blarghmash tired, typo hps != hpm Damn, I was fearing exactly that. The first thing that came to my mind when seeing those trees was "extremely dumbed down, everyone will have the same spec now". |

| Yeah they need a lot of work in the engine. For example the z-fighting has become unbearable. Thats just horrible in an engine that has 10 kilometers view distance. Also for ArmA 3 they should implement better damage systems for environment and vehicles. |

I'm still here now and I don't see me going away anytime soon... Sorry that you feel I pissed on your shoes, but I actually only wanted to say that people that still play that game have been playing it since release. I myself am in my 30s and am still a gamer, I know people who are 60+ that play. Why should I judge them? |

Its one of the oldest and before WoW one of the most successful MMORPGs. No wonder.
Still, I stopped after the first 6 or 7, since after that, if you paused playing for a while you couldnt find in again since people were so extremely far ahead. Same with EQ2 btw. Its only for life-long players, and if you look at the remaining, you will notice that most are indeed in their 30s and 40s now. |

Phasing being the best? You obviously dont play on a PvP server. Or did they improve it so people will see each other, no matter what? But even on PvE servers it can be horribly annoying when you want to help friends or friends want to help you and one of you has(nt) completed the quests there so, you cant see you friends and thus cant help them either.
