In a witchhunt there is no actual witchcraft to speak of; no one is actually putting curses on children or flying on broomsticks. It's purely a cover. However, there is such a thing as actually trolling. This isn't a difficult distinction to grasp. Get over the idea that you're making a really nuanced point.

No, I really don't think you're being as clever as you seem to think. Actual witchcraft did not exist, people were just called witches for any number of superficial reasons so they could serve as communal scapegoats, blah blah blah. The point is, trolling is an actual behavior, and if someone is being a troll, one can call him a troll without it being a "witch hunt."
