Prolly not much hope for it.
Fits in the line with Blizzard trying to continue Diablo without Blizzard North, though.

You're just trolling at this point.
I dont hvae the same opinion as you do, so I am troll?
Nice presentation of ignorance!

And all this crap about Blizzard? Everything they've put out (WC2, Diablo, StarCraft, Diablo 2, Warcraft III, WoW) has been a enjoyable, successful game. Not the same developers? I personally wasn't impressed with Guild Wars and Hellgate was a complete failure. So much for those ex-blizzard developers.

Interesting logic again...
1. Diablo 1 & 2 were awesome games. They were the only ones from all those I personally liked. They were also the only ones in that list that were made by Blizzard North. Notice something?

2. A few Blizzard North employees went to that deveolper, a few to this, and a few to another, etc. So, Mr. Smartass, why do you judge games that only have maybe 1/5 at most of the old team? I could understand it if they all went to the same developer, but Jesus... do you actually think about anything before you write it down?

What the hell are you doing in a Diablo thread debating a Diablo game when you don't seem to like hack & slash? Guess what? Diablo is a hack & slash game.

Where did I say that? I liked quite a few. The newer ones (TitanQuest & Sacred) didnt have good enough atmosphere for my taste (mostly because of the dull story), but before that there were a lot that were nice. Nox or Mana for example and even Dungeon Siege, which graphics produced an awesome atmosphere, even though the story was horrible.

This is a company with virtually unlimited resources that still focuses on PC gaming and hasn't made a title I didn't like.
And thats where we are different. I loved Diablo 1 & 2 like my own child (note, they were done by Blizzard North, not Blizzard). But I hated the Warcraft & Starcraft-Series incl. WoW (even though I played it for a while, because I too was impressed by the innovative quest driven gameplay).
But if you have at least a little experience in WoW, you should have noticed how it gets worse and worse. Their devs dont know the meaning of balance anymore, PvE is nonsense right now because you get better items faster if you PvP, etc. They made so many horrible decisions the last few years, even SOE are angels compared to them.

Wow, so you actually played the game?

Look, none of the sad sacks of filth who left Blizzard (Like Roper) have made a game that is even half that of anything Blizzard has created since.

To put it another way: The "Bad Apples" and "underachievers" were the ones who left Blizzard...the real brains stayed behind.

Diablo 3's demo video shown this saturday was above and beyond what I could have ever expected. It has the classic Diablo look and feel, has the same sound FX, and most of all...has the back to basics gameplay I want.

The only "adoptive child" in this discussion is Bill Roper's Hellgate game.

Ignorance is comforting, isnt it? Just ignore facts, it will heal all wounds caused.

As I said it before, if this would be a different developer and a different named game, people wouldnt hype it nearly as much. It simply looks just like a Hack & Slash game from some random developers who tries to copy Diablo - in 2004.

Yeah it has the same sound effects. That truly makes it Diablo. ROFL... Do you actually notice how stupid you sound?

Most of the guys from North are working at Blizzard, with the exception of some of the bosses who formed Flagship

Not true. About 30 (the most important ones too) left to other developers from 2003-2005.
Not only that this is fact, but also you should actually notice it on D3, because it looks and feels like an adoptive child.

But its Blizzard! BLIZZTARD! The ones that showed their awesome skills in balancing WoW! All the quickly fixed bugs! The inventive and complex gameplay that is never boring at level 70! The fast servers that never give you double or triple the ping you actually have!
Their games sell so much, so they HAVE to be the best on the whole world! BTW, the Wii sells even more, so its also the best console!
The awesome WC-series was made by holy Blizzard not to mention 10 million people (OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!) playing the mother of all games, WoW, so how can you dare criticize the mighty Blizzard!
FANBOYS! CHAAAAARGE!

I could care less about what youre sure of.

Yeah, thank god I can chose my own way and dont have to swim with all the fanboys. You didnt have to mention that.

Whats funny is that on every other game people would have said the same what I said, but on "Diablo 3 by Blizzard" everyone is like "OMG OMG OMG OMG!". People even claim that the graphics are stunning... No one even noticed the even more dumbed down gameplay...

Sorry, objectivity is no not very common in all these D3 threads.

Wow, what a surprise. Of all the web sites on the web, it's Blue's where people are bitching and whining about the game, and how apparently Blizzard isn't a good developer anymore.

Oh Ive seen quite a few more. Many people dont like it.
I just showed it to my old friend who played D1 & D2 with me back when they were released and he said "It looks like fucking WoW"

I agree with him.

but they make GREAT games.

Blizzard North *made* GREAT games. The last Blizzard Entertainment games were a joke, sorry.
This game just looks more of their kiddy crap. Look at the textures and low poly count, childish spell effects and moves and even more dumbed down game play.

I wonder why so many think Blizzard North is Blizzard.
Blizzard North is gone. Almost all of the members left to different developers in 2005.
Blizzard North made Diablo 1&2. This one looks just like WoW 2.0.

I watched the teaser but am still downloading the gameplay vid (with only 40 kb/s).

So far Im not impressed by the screenshots. The polycount is pretty low and the graphcs overall look much more like WoW than Diablo 1 or 2...
I wouldnt be surprised if the spell effects were overdone like in WoW and armor sets look like Powerranger's worst.

Actually yes. It's very common for installers to report back to a server when a game was installed, and also fairly common for SP games to check in too even if they aren't going to be locked out.

Its also very common that exactly that gets blocked by a firewall.
I, for example, have never clicked "yes" when I got a popup at the installation (!). Only when I noticed that the game wont install because of that, would I click yes.

News Comments > Crytek - EU Thinks Shooters are Bad, Mmmkay?
2. Thats not really true Jun 25, 2008, 10:11 Muscular Beaver

The normal European gamer likes their games just like the Americans do. Its the people that dont play (much) and can not be called "gamers" that think bad about shooters - thanks to the media. And I think its as bad in the US.

Shooters are actually called "Killergames" here in the media. Everytime when theres a young person doing something bad, its mostly those "Killergames" that are getting the blame. Violence have always been a taboo in Germany since the end of WW2.

Im getting really sick with all this piracy blaming.
Why dont they just fuck off, build a dildo out of their POS "copy protections", shove it in their ass and only do console games? Seriously Im so fucking sick of it...
Having to put the CD/DVD in the drive everytime you want to play a different game is bad enough (WTF, I feel like in Amiga times, playing Indy4)...

This reminds me of witch hunts. "OMG! He didnt buy our game because he thinks it sucks! WITCH WITCH WITCH! BURN HER!"
"OMG! Someone tested our game before official release! Must be a... WITCH!!!! BURN HER!!!"

I have securom on my machine from bioshock, it works fine, never given me any problems whatsoever. like 99.9% of people with it on their machines.
Pity the 0.1% rant and rave like the world is ending in predictable fashion. It isn't.

Where from did you get those numbers? Last night while on crack?

And I'm still not buying EA games anymore. You shouldnt either. So I really dont pity him or other people who have problems with copy protections.

As for the lack of governors for the settlements, you know you can turn that off at the start of the game in both MTW2 and Rome so you can manage all settlements without need for family members. I think its a much better game with that setting since you can use your family as generals and not moving them around from one city to the next.

Yes I knew that, and I always turned it off. But still your settlements will all make no profits or huge minus because no governor is there. Riots will rise up much quicker too. Especially at the beginning of the game you need money money money. You cant get it when you have no governors because your cities will make minus.

Managing a lot of settlements wasnt the problem for me. But managing them efficiently was a huge problem since I never had enough family members to cover all of them and also have a few armies going. Anyway, Rome was very cool, though it sucked sometimes when you told you units to go there or attack that, and they simply would go somewhere else or attack something completely different. or when you told your cavalry to charge the fleeing unit they would simply walk besides them until they reached the map border. Lots of stuff like that.

I bought MTW2, and I was extremely disappointed. The campaign is so fucking hard and stupid its not funny. I was so frustrated, I simply uninstalled it after a few hours of play. The stupid Vatican always gave me orders to join a crusade but I didnt have the troops to send em there and soon after they got angry at me and excommunicated me. That made several other AIs attack me at the same time. Nothing I could do.
Not to mention the lack of governors was 10 times worse than in RomeTW.
I might try it again at some time, but not any time soon. I really hope they fixed stupid stuff like that in Empire.
