http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue%27s_News

Anybody else think we should add to it? it almost got deleted earlier in January.

I will have a go at adding some content later on today, but anyone else feel free to drop some in there before me.

The UI mod is sweet and is the one mod i would reccomend (And i have) to people to start the game with right at the beggining, almost everything else you can decisde on later on, but that UI mod is just the greatest.

As for the face changing thing, that will work out great, as i chose my chars face quickly so i could get into the game and now want to go back and change it, one question though.. If i change my face, and my skills reset, but i have yet to level, will the additional bonuses roll into the next level as was being discussed below?

I keep on going on about this as do others, if you trust your audience they will gennerally reward you in return (See PA as a good example of this and their ultra-premium subscription model).

This alone will probably ensure that I buy an account, well done S2 your now $29.99 richer courtesy of my bank account!

Yeah, not as much as beating the champ, but i think its in the region of 300 or so. You can only compete once an ingame week though, but still, easy money!

Question, I went spellsword, my summonning skill (Is that conjuration, i think so) is at 11, and i have no spells for that skill, can i buy the spells from somewhere and get profecient in that skill? or is that gonna be a no as i use destruction and restoration spells?

Well if youve beaten the champion you can still compete but against normal environment enemies (Goblins etc). The tactic works for them too, just jump up high and pepper em. Means you can take on three at a time and beat em without any problems.

I discovered the bug when i was due to fight for the championship, but ended up reloading so that i could go complete his quest first, and then obviously i didnt need to worry too much about using the bug...

As you enter the arena, directly opposite you is the competitors entrance, to the left and right are what looks like two fake entrances, these fake entrances have a gate, with a pillar on either side. The pillars are slanted, and are two teired.

Run over to the pillar, jump up to the second teir and you shouldent slide off and they wont be able to hit you,

Then begin the chucking of arrows and snowballs.

Are you saying that when I come back the opponents will now be more powerful just because I leveled up???

More, that the first time you goto the dungeon, the bad guys will be the same level as you, and then if you wander off and come back 10 levels later, the bad guys will be 10 levels higher too.

There are definate pros and cons to the system, however the way i have been playing it is to mix dungeons, quests and main story line as i go, meaning i dont necessarily need to go back and revist a dungeon.

As an aside ive played for about 36 hours now, and am level 9. ive been making sure to max out mid level training each level and to work on a lot of my skills so that as i level my skills and stat bonuses will/should be appropriate for the stuff im goign to face, so far i havent had any troubles and have managed to close one oblivion gate so far.

Its a great game, although well worth downloading a UI improvement so that u can see more inventory. the arena is fun too, although a little dumb with the scaling of bad guys and the option to just jump up and pepper them with arrows/spells.

Two questions though:

1) Has anyone found a list of where all the trainers are to be found?

2) Has anyone found a decent way to help boost slash/blunt/ranged skills? other than by attacking bad guys?

I just peeled myself away from the game to take a break, ive had a very different experiance to some of you guys, let me explain:

I have played it for just over 25hours now, and i am level 5...

Deliberetly

Each time i have levelled i have made sure to go and find someone to spend gold on to upgrade 5 skill points, and am going to keep doing this each level.

I have not doene any of the main story yet, not even handed in the kings amulet thing. Right now the best armor i have come accross is the arena armor which i am currently wearing. Im ranked gladiator in the arena although killing the three prisoners was tough, had to use all my healing potions as they were moving around like crazy.

The combat system is great for one on one, but once u get up to three opponants it gets pretty tough. I really dont want to lower the difficulty and i havent seen a need to yet, but im guessing by the time I level up more i might need to, anyways Im going to head back in, I have to follow this woman accross town, and then ive spotted a mountain in the distance that im goign to go climb

There's no such thing as pro-life when it comes to the American Taliban.

Ive always liked to think that:

and

Democrats want you dead at the start and alive at the end.

DAMMIT!

I just got out of my car and scratched the inside of the drivers side window with my keys, right in the middle! I think I scratched the tint applied to the inside of the window, dont suppose anyone knows if theres an easy way to get rid of it? (Aside from having the tint reapplied).

8. Oblivion Mar 24, 2006, 10:50 The Truth

So I got Oblivion a few days ago and finally got around to playing it last night and felt like posting my comments here

So overall, its a pretty damn good game. obviously the interface issues needs to be fixed, and whoever releases the mod to do that will probably be given a knighthood.

Graphics are great, runs well at 1024 with most settings put up high (I have an AMD FX-53, 6800GT OC, some ram etc), although the non AA with HDR is a touch annoying.

As for the openness of it all I like it, I think i need to spend more time exploring, and getting a true feel for it all, but right now ive had a go at the arena, got bored of the city and so am working my way up a mountain i spotted off in the distance. I should probably have gotten the horse first, but I guess its too late now!

I went with a fighter/mage combo, which is cool but trying to use spells and sword and shield in combat is a pain, especially when u cant see what number keys youve bound everythign too

Anyways, thats my assesment of it so far, the wife is off to Texas today so im going to go and clean the house up, get a haircut, go to the gym and then play Oblivion, eat chicken wings and drink beer allll weekend long.

Wish me luck!

Until I see some kind of powerful demonstration otherwise, I will dismiss this stuff as pure hype.

Their site seems to be mostly down right now which is a shame, as they have a few videos of one scene, broken into sections to show what it can do, basically this plane flies into a warehouse, knocking stuff down and then knocking over this water tower, which breaks open and water goes every where, looks crazy good and probably not something that a cpu on its own could handle.

25. Re: Great Mar 22, 2006, 15:27 The Truth

So far it seems like all of the companies planning to support this are using the additional physics capabilities purely for eye candy. And that's going to doom it -- I just don't think there are enough people who will pay that much money for what amounts to extra eye candy (but, hey, I don't get people who buy $500+ graphics boards either).

Early adopters will drive this even, if it only provides eye candy improvement. I know that if the difference is substantial I will buy one, $100 is really a no brainer for me if I can see cool stuff (see my post below). Once a large enough early adopter has these cards then it will slowly become a standard, like it or not.

As an aside I think having the physics chip on the graphics card will be a mistake, it sacks too much of something having to suffer.

I build my machine as a gaming machine, and I have a laptop for work stuff. I could see my main rig having seperate cards for graphics, sound, physics, AI etc, and would be willing to splash on it all if I could play some truly epic games, with near photorealism and thousands of opponants running around.

If they could just figure out a way to reverse the motherboard, so that when upgrading, I could just slot the MB in, rather than having to take the whole damn thing apart... who knows what the year 2000 holds?!

Im reserving judgement on this card, until some decent reviews come out, either it improve framerates dramatically or adds in multiple effects with little or no performance hit and i will probably get it.

Nothing would be cooler than wading through a field of waist high grass, blowing in the wind, clouds rolling over head, in the middle of a massive hand to hand battle with hundreds of bad guys on screen. If it can enable stuff like that then ive got a PCI slot and one credit card ready for phys X goodness!

If on the other hand it cant then ill go to the casino and play blackjack with hookers.

In fact, forget the casino.

And blackjack.

4. unique ways Mar 22, 2006, 14:06 The Truth

Metropolis developers let the protagonist and opponents use the environment in unique ways, with the environment in turn influencing the way the game is played. For instance, enemy units can hide behind objects, locate the best positions to shoot from, and analyze the environment in order to be most combat-effective.

This physics engine must be pretty awesome, i havent seen bad guys hide behind objects before...
