I didn't like C&C Generals when the series first when 3D - in my opinion it just made everything look more cluttered and messy.

Your lies make baby Jebus cry! Generals was great :-)

lets hope sim city 5 isnt to sim city 4 that civ 5 was to civ 4. I might be old fashioned but I hated civ 5. civ 4 and sim city 4 were excellent.

played with the beta. It would only send messages and chat to friends, group chat didnt work. Have they included group chat yet? If so i'll look at it again otherwise its a bit lightweight.

At least it doesnt log you out of your main PC when your mobile is on.

I play and like it. The learning curve isnt too bad. There are two distinct bits, below level 30 and above level 30. The skill levels improve above 30 so dont rush to level.

The great thing is, you arent hamstrung much by being "free". You cant use the auction house (not really necessary for below 30 players) and you cant mail each other to swap kit (you sell items by attaching the item and mailing with COD).

You can pay about $10 to unlock these features and get double XP per mission (slows the grind for XP) and get more loot drops.

In short, give it a go. Perhaps think about paying the $10 if you like it (but dont race to beyond 30!). I havent mentioned boosters, dont worry about them, they add more XP and more loot. Only the truly dedicated get boosters really.

There is enough PVE and PVP to keep you going for a while. The "guild wars" agency vs agency is a bit crap but stops things going stale.

The piracy comment doesnt apply here. They offered refunds. Many took them up on the offer.

I have just short of 500 hours logged on SOTS1 easily being my "most played game" (although some of that is probably "left PC on overnight"). I did the sensible thing and watched the forums. This game was a trainwreck from the start and was so obviously defective. They should have come clean and allowed a "half price beta" launch or something. They wouldnt have had the refunds issue and their PR wouldnt have taken such a dive.

As is, I wont be buying till I see it in a steam sale for 10

I thought this game might be a viable alternative to natural selection (could never get on with NS2 gave up on that earlier this year). A decent commander will easily steamroller the opposition, then a few people leave and its game over. In fact all it takes is a team that isnt full and you've lost already.

There isnt a "combat" type mode so again, just like NS if your commander is crap then you lose.

Pass.

RE: WyldKat

Assuming mph means you live in the UK. Sentencing guidelines would say 100 in a 60 would be hard to avoid a short ban. I'd hazard 400 fine, 30-50 day ban depending on how much of an arse you are in court, 50 victim "fine". Your insurance would go through the roof.

100 in 70 is mitigatable to avoid the ban but certainly circa 250 fine (plus 50) and maybe 4-6 points if you are lucky.

God help you if it was raining as they might tack a DWDCA so its a ban + points and a double fine. Cause'd someone else to swerve or tailgate? Thats DD so automatic long ban (and it stays on your licence for double), 1k fine (+50) and possibly jailtime.

104 is the magic number, then jail time or even pass it up to CC as its an each way offence.

It's good that this game is based on the real World of Darkness.

Now, as for playing a mortal? Only if I get to play a Buffy-type.

vampires are pussies. Wake me when Mage comes out.

43. Re: Gabe Newell on EA vs. Steam Aug 18, 2011, 03:59 Armengar

cant agree with you there zef, nearly all the games I have bought on steam have been in a sale. They certainly arent shitty old games - I generally wait about 4-5 months before purchasing. It is a buyers market, you can always trawl the internet for a cheaper alternative.

I have yet to purchase steam keys from other countries - not sure if that is against some rules but this is a possibility if it is legal.

That being said, I like the approach of steam. I am a digital squirrel and have never traded a game in, so for me it is great but then again there are reasons other people wont like steam. Thats the beauty of choice.

plus if they are true copies then the lighting, wind, occlusion will all be to cock so as said previously they will still need to be rendered (which is what kills the gfx)

I'll judge on merit. Minecraft was cheap enough to warrant a punt. Turned out ok and I had a good laugh. Oddly enough ive lost interest now - no matter how good it is. That being said, he got my cash and I got a decent amount of fun for it.

Scrolls might be the same, it depends how cheap it is.
