Preordered this after playing the demo. Thought it was a lot of fun. Seems like it'll be a great RPG that has great graphics and surprising a great story line with really well done acting.

I use Vista and just wanted to say I have no problem with the Vista hibernate solution. It powers down within a few seconds and then shuts off. Turn on computer... 3 secs and I'm up to full speed again. Very nice and I haven't had any of the issues mentioned in the article.

Oh yeah... I will mention that in this mode, it only leaves power to memory and is supposed to only consume the amount of power from one small christmas tree type light.

I tried the demo first. First game in a long time I couldn't run. I tried turning down the settings to low and everything just ran so sluggishly. It just felt like a rush job... unpolished, no attention to detail and it point blank did not run.

FUN! FUN! FREAKIN' FUN!! That was enjoyable! I really like the awesome, hollywood style "game" movies. Movie quality scenes themselves aren't great in game... but these scenes and acting is just quality gaming style... I know that doesn't sound quite right, but it just seems to fit so freakin' awesomely.

The gameplay itself seems polished. The graphics, menus, and everything seemed spot on. I was not even considering picking this up, but will definitely be doing so now!

By the way, I am running Vista 32-bit with everything topped out at Max (sound pops occasionally even without sound setting to High, but probably due to sound drivers still for Audigy). It autodetected everything for Ultra High... here are my settings:

1680x1050
XFX GeForce 7800 GTX 256M
AMD 3800+
2G RAM

If you were thinking if this demo would be worth grabbing... well it definitely is.

... btw, maybe someone can help me: I only had one issue... I could not pan to the left by going to the left side of the screen because my mouse would leave onto my other monitor. This meant I always had to pan with right-mouse button... a little annoying. Anyone know how to make it run so this won't happen? It's almost as if there's some sort of window-mode enabled...

I setup a dual boot XP-Vista installation to see how I liked it. I have to say that I haven't had to boot into XP yet, and I can't say enough positive things about it. It's like driving a 5-yr old Ford with many mileages and wanting all the bells and whistles of a new Chevy. Well, Ford finally has those bells and whistles now and it just drives beautifully.

I love the search functionality, the built-in photo viewer is one of the best photo viewers I've seen... it's quick and I love how many pictures you can see at a time with simple mouseovers to view, autosaving changes, etc; the menu system and default directory structure (C:\Users\<Folders>) seems just right but with search you barely need it, the Aero interface... my wife actually who's not a savvy technical person actually said it just feels "smoother" and "more right." Everything really does feel smooth, responsive and much improved... and "new." I even have not had that immediate knee-jerk reaction to install firefox right away as IE7 fits so nicely with everything (I will be installing firefox still though as I'm tired of getting blocked/prompted for every download). I also like the "hibernate" feature by default for desktops. Save power and it comes up right away from this. Also, for any programs not compatible with Aero, it switches virtually instantly from being off automatically when program starts to returning after program ends. As for performance, the Win-Tab thing works really well. I loaded up WoW, a Movie, two IE7 windows and 4 windows explorer windows and could cycle through no problem.

Also, I only had to change two things to get WoW to work as it did previously. These are well documented on the forums... but disable vsynch and disable some TCP/IP setting network adapter that Vista enables by default. After that it ran just as smooth as before with no hiccups.

On the negative, I have already turned off the User Access bit (go to black and prompt for every bleaming thing). In addition, Media Center does not seem that great. It has crashed a few times and the photo album and slide shows in this are no where near the same quality as that built into Vista by default. Also, if you want to dual boot, don't start the disk for installation within XP... boot to the disk. I believe, this will ensure that Vista is installed as drive C: just like XP (transparent to the two OS's).. my Vista is on E: But the dual boot set itself up automatically with no changes to any bootloader files or config files.

POSSIBLE BIAS NOTE: Mind you I didn't have to pay to try Vista out. I got a free trial version of ultimate for attending a MS event, but I will be purchasing at the end of my trial. More for me: I support and purchase Macs, Unix, and Windows machines everyday. Most of my work machines (100's) are Mac, however, my primary desktop machine is Windows XP (until company purchases Vista).

Still... they've now shown to the rest of the world that they are capable of providing these movies in DVD form for <$3. The ARV for a lot DVD's is >$25. Sure, they go down in price, but that's a lot of markup that we pay, "just because we can afford it."

Actually I fixed the issue with NWN 2 by changing the short cut to run the _AMDXP.exe that its there... The performance issue was a different as night as day and good bye in-game lagginess.

I also was going to buy this game, but I can't see buying a game with personalized ads... I like to see "fake" products, with product names and items with some thought and creativity in it that provoke a little inner giggle every time I see them.

Also, there needs to be some kick back to the consumer on this enabling the game to be sold cheaper or something. Also, give me the option clear as day to turn this functionality off. This just says increased profits not by making a better game, but making a better business model. No thanks.

Umm... am I saying I want my HDTV??? Umm... yeah. I have a 47" Widescreen that I only watch things in HD. I have an upconverting DVD player (Oppo is awesome!). Why would I want to play stretched out, grainy games?

Actually, I'm comparing between non-PC sites and PC sites and non-gamer sites... you'd be very, very surprised at the initial differences. The non-gamer sites seem to be at about 25% A or B whereas PC sites seem to be overwelmingly saying nay to it.

But that may be your point that PC gamers aren't console gamers? That's a valid point and I posted on some console gaming sites to compare. Thanks.
