25. Re: Morning Consolidation Jan 15, 2013, 02:36 The Half Elf

This isn't about the PC, it's about the 360 vs PS3, and on that note I have a few things for ya.

Rampant cheating online is KING on the PS3. So much that Infinity Ward flat out blames the PS3 and Sony for it
The 360 only has a 6% failure rate over the PS3
And if your Fat PS3 (like one of the PS2 compatible ones) dies then your screwed as Sony won't repair it due to Warranty, and good luck finding one online that doesn't cost a fortune.

Microsoft built a PC that hooks up to your TV. They didn't try to force another type of proprietary media format on anyone like Sony has been trying to do since the mini-cd days with ever single device they have put to market.

And again the interface for the PS3 has gotten better, it's still a mess when you look at the other consoles. It's super easy to use the 360 interface with or without the keypad, but a pain in the ass with regular PS3 controller (both times I've owned a PS3 resorted in me yelling at the TV because it's so clumsily setup.

And Microsoft has been attacked in the past, but isn't STUPID enough to leave itself open to what happened to Sony. The system was down for a month, and not just the PS3 network but also Sony Online. It took them SEVEN DAYS before they even announced what had happened.
But I have to ask, if your personal information was stolen due to Sony's ignorance and stupidity, which resulted in your identify being stolen, how much 'free stuff' could Sony give you to make up for that? And again this wasn't a small breech, this was a breech of EVERYTHING. Out of Sony's controls you say? That's like laying out 5000 steaks in front of starving dogs and thinking that the steaks are safe.

What about the whole removal of Linux installs from PS3's?

And Microsoft has had issues with it's service (like recently the Cloud Storage outage) and have given out free stuff. Not 1 or 2 year old games.

I can understand hatred for the 360 and Microsoft, but how delusional do you have to be to ignore all the issues with the PS3 and Sony?

What they need to do is take Red Faction 1 engine and put it in an Aliens game. I mean come on now, that place would be a freaking metal crater in space with that many aliens being shot.

Have to agree with Verno; current gen consoles XBOX360 have already become glossy advertisement-machines with kludgy interfaces. I really dont want another console at this point.

There fixed that for ya... never did understand the fanboism from the 360 crowd. The 360 was a cheap poorly made POS, you had to PAY to play and they apparently also shove ads down your throat. I'm using my original fatPS3, upgraded my HD with a standered laptop drive, havent paid a dime to play online and get no ads whatsoever... As for the next gen, meh I'll happily enjoy my PS3 for quite a few more years and look into the next gen consoles a few years after release and make an informed decision based on the product and services offered.

And the PS3 is any better? Granted the 'improved' the online store, it's still a mess to find things. And what about Home? It's a virtual environment/store for items as well. And lets talk about online, rampant cheating and hacking of games, voice chat is a mess, downloading anything from Sony takes TEN times longer then Xbox Live. Not to mention the whole system being taken offline due to data theft.

But I will give Sony 1 thing, the free games if your a PLUS member.

But PLEASE do not post all this hate towards the 360 when the PS3 has had it's fair share of issues and Microsoft has never had to send out 70 MILLION emails informing it's customers of data theft.

I'm loving XCOM but thier codeing is shit, it has some pretty major flaws and theve been unable to remedy them. Teleport bugs, flanking bugs and the game has hardlocked my PS3 a few times, PSfckn3, theres no excuse for a game to not run flawlessly on a console, shit codeing.

Sorry to hear that. The game was rock solid for me on PC (40 hours played)

Valve IMO well deserves the number one spot, nobody in the business stands behind thier games like Valve does.

Valve is top 3 all time IMO, but they didn't do much in 2012.

Well locking up my PS3 is definatly the result of a shitty port but the teleport and flanking bugs are fundamental game flaws across all platforms. XCOM clearly could have used a few more months of polish before release, but they had a release date to accommodate, so it was pushed out the door early = IMO, no where near top dev.

I'd agree that Valve didnt release much this year but we are talking about devs in general not GOTY candidates. So I'd still give Valve top spot, they support thier products, they release because the game is ready and not because of another departments schedule and they continuously update and add free content to thier products. Heh I always think its funny when people talk about Valve time. Like its a bad thing that a developer will take whatever time is nessesary to make sure they release a quality finished product.

You mean the teleport bug they fixed when they released the free DLC a few weeks ago? Also it seems quite common for PS3's to lock up on any number of games due to long gaming sessions.

So if violent games make us more violent, what does it say about the rest of the genre's?
I'm decent at RTS games, so does that qualify me to lead an army to take over a country? Hell I could just go through the list of games I have on Steam and find out that I could be anything from a race car driver to a theme park builder.

Now if only someone would leave a Formula 1 car somewhere where I could steal it and prove my skills. Oh wait if that happened then they'd be going after racing game developers..

Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain? Halo, Far Cry and Borderlands fail on the D and I. Diablo fails on D I and C.

Only decent ones on there are XCOM, Dishonored and Walking Dead.

I'm not sure quite HOW they would do it, but I'd love for Rocksteady to take a shot at Superman.
Also found a mod that lets you play as Robin, Nightwing or Catwomen through the entire campaign instead of Bats.

Edited due to lack of brain function.

Seriously Rigs, how do you do it?
I find baseball boring as hell.... but to watch 20 cars going in circles?!? The ONLY good thing about Nascar racing is when shit goes wrong and you see flames and debris flying all over the place!

The day they put weapons on Nascar's is the day I will proudly proclaim I am the biggest Nascar fan in the history of the sport.

We really need a Interstate 76 reboot...

The game isn't bad, just different in parts from the rest of the series. But 'the tech' behind the engine isn't as good as the previous games. I'm not sure if this was to include dynamic weather, dynamic snow and boating.

Is it bad that I've never finished a mission in ARMA 1 or 2 due to the crappy control's or horrible voice work?

And hit the 2nd island in Far Cry 3 yesterday.

Super Secret Text to follow:
Holy crap how many times does the main character 'die' in this game?

Seriously? Tech wise the only cool thing about AC3 is the boat combat and moving through snow. The pop-in, fuzzy triangle level of detail thing (also used in Far Cry 3) is fucking ANNOYING. The controls are now twitchy, and the beautiful animation system from the previous games has issues.
Not to mention if I want to play multiplayer (on the 360) I just can't install the 2nd disc and leave the 1st in the tray, I have to switch disc's which is a major annoyance.

I'd still kill for a Big Daddy figure.

What was actually really nice was the statue from The Old Republic CE. My brother in law who is a major Star Wars Collector wanted to trade me his original backwards compatible PS3 for it. I told him nope it looks nice sitting next to the GTA4 lock box (which I almost broke a toe on).

Sweet, man, gratz! What are you going to be doing for them?

I'm going to be a Bar Porter/Backup Bartender. Fast pace, low stress, decent money and full time.
Money is nice but I'm not a person who is 'money greedy' job wise. My bills will be covered and I have extra fun money without the stress of management.
