53. Robert Anton Wilson - Ishtar Rising May 6, 2004, 17:13 Toronto Skunk

I've just pulled out of my dusty shelves R.A.W.'s Ishtar Rising. I didn't read it when I first bought it in the early 90's.
I thought after Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl, it was apt time to read it.

It's about repression of the female nipple. I think he says it coincides with times of war, but I've only just begun reading it.

Will anyone help the widow's son?

8. Re: eh what? Apr 1, 2004, 14:13 Toronto Skunk

yea, my joy went quickly to disappointment when I saw FPS in there. The original Close Combats where the only RTS I actually enjoyed.

Now they are simply trumped up armed forces propaganda disguised as a game.
If it's These two will go straight to the bargain bin, and I will go back to table top gaming to feed my hunger for a good tactical fight.

"On another note, did anyone else read this story a few years back about this guy who predicted that as a planet, it would take a massive global nightmare (I think he predicted that we'd have to have a disaster or war that killed multiples of millions of people) to shake things up and put us on the right path to being a united race again instead of strangers living next to each other?"

O, Ozymandias, where are you now!

13. BARF diet Feb 8, 2004, 14:11 Toronto Skunk

My sister and her husband are raw vegans and so are there three dobermans. Well the dobies aren't vegans but they do eat the BARF meat raw diet, and they have the strangest poo. It turns to dust and crumbles in a few hours and it DOES NOT SMELL! I would have to pick up their poo (3 dobies!) and put it in a garbage can which had about a 10 inch deep pile, and there was NO SMELL!

It's a perfect diet for a dog who poos inside!

16. Just get a mutt Jan 23, 2004, 13:20 Toronto Skunk

I mean, isn't that what all these doodles are? Go to your local Anti-Cruelty or other shelter and get a dog that is on a death sentence.
I found an INCREDIBLE dog that is some wyrd mix, but everyone thinks she is an exotic breed, when she is only a mutt. Too bad the shelter fixes the dogs they put up for adoption, because she would have great puppies.

She looks like a mix between Yoda and Chewbacca

31. Other People Shoveing Jan 20, 2004, 15:17 Toronto Skunk

Other people shoveling your snow is ok, but not when the guy you paid $20 to shovel the steps and sidewalk shows up at 10:30 drunk and asking for money. Usually people have to meet me at least three times before they come to my door looking for money. I paid him to shovel my walk once!

Blue,

Try a Toro Electric Shovel or a snow blower if you have to shovel acres.

29. pit bulls Jan 15, 2004, 13:32 Toronto Skunk

the 19th ward alderwomen here in Chicago wants to ban pitbulls. I hear in Australia it is illegal to clip a pitbulls ears so they are short.
I've known supersweet pitbulls that were just teddy bears, and I have also known mean ones. My sister has dobermans that would rip you apart if they do not know you, but once they are introduced, they are the sweetest animals.
If you train a dog (or any animal including human) to fight and kill, you are breeding a very natural, very violent, very strong survival urge.
Frankly, I think people who enjoy dog fights are just this side of killing squirrels and cats and then moving on to people. I know that's a bit strong, but I love dogs and really have no patience for people who don't. It should be a law that you should love dogs. Ok, that's a little too far.

5. Festivus is Official Dec 20, 2003, 13:26 Toronto Skunk

New Orleans has Festivus

http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1070524542284510.xml

"If holiday stress still has your number, then crawl over to the Festivus pole where shoppers will be encouraged to participate in the “airing of
grievances” pole (free of tinsel – “too distracting”) ready for shoppers to write doand affix scraps of paper with hand-written “grievances”
from the year 2003"

Now on to the campaign to make Festivus an official Chicago Holiday. We've got Casimir Pulaski day already.

-Sam

I waited to see Reloaded because the whole Clone Wars debacle really jaded me to any of the big movies, except LOTR.
But I am going to see Revolutions today
This is the start of the end of the "Serial" movies. LOTR and Matrix are serials to me since they are released so close together. When is the next time we can expect such lavish production in concurrently filmed movies? Once Return Of The King is finished, there are none. I don't know of any being planned. I could imagine Asimov's Foundation series being done that way, but who knows.

FYI, I heard that Asimov's Foundation series is named "Al Qaeda" in whatever langauage "Al Qaeda" (sp?) is (arabic, farsi?). Al Qaeda means "The Base" or "The Foundation" I think.
