To be honest, we both drew a blank on this one. Any clever suggestions?

There has been no word on whether that's being planned, I'm afraid.

16. Re: Mail Forum For Your Private Reading Only May 9, 2002, 18:40  Frans

Since you're having e-mail problems, why don't you setup a link on the front page to post e-mail news that otherwise would get lost, to a private forum that only you can read. That way when your e-mail server goes down, anyone can post news to your board. Just make sure that they have to login in to do it.
Interesting idea, but I'm afraid it's not that practical. A lot of the mail we get is from companies and other sites that use mailing lists, and they simply have the news@bluesnews.com address included as one of many. We certainly can't expect them to specifically visit our site and post, say, a press release into that forum, when a mailing list is so much more convenient to them.

Further, our mention of the temporary address yesterday in the news, and using it in the menu & title bars, is not really picked up by everyone visiting us and then sending in a story, as we got less than half the mail volume we normally get from people not using the aforementioned mailing lists. I guess folks often have the news@ address already in their address book, and old habits are hard to temporarily break.

Maybe everyone even gets used to posting news for your access only and it might even start taking a big load of your server.
Our mail is handled by a different machine than the rest of the site (and one we don't have direct access to, that's a big part of the problem). So using a submission forum on our website would actually add (however little) to our server load rather than reduce it.

Anyway, thanks for everyone's feedback, our mail server resumed its duties a few hours ago, so we'll be fine until the next calamity or until we move elsewhere (which is being worked on for some time already).

Triton was one of the teams within Scavenger, as far as I recall. And you could be right about them not releasing any games, as I think Amok and Scorcher were done by the other team(s). Ah well... the trips down memory lane.

Looks like you're talking about Scavenger. They did actually release two games to the best of my knowledge: Amok and Scorcher. And the other canned title I think you may be referring to was Spanish Blood.

3D Gamers has an info page on Scavenger and those two released games: http://www.3dgamers.com/companies/scavenger/

I believe the rocky start Blues is refering to is the release of the patch, not game.
You are correct.

10. Re: localized downloads May 3, 2002, 12:04  Frans

Blue, if it comes to your attention that a download is being restricted to a local area, please mention it with an UPDATE notification. It will save people the time of clicking through on it if it isn't available to them from where they are downloading. Thank you.
1. Blue didn't write the story.
2. I downloaded the demo just fine (but I'm in the Netherlands, maybe that made a difference) so I wasn't aware of any area restrictions.
3. Try the mirror.

This MUST be a new record at 400 MB, right?
No, that's (still) the Baldur's Gate II demo at 609 MB.

Is anyone from Blue's News going to E3? I hope so.
'fraid not, that would make it difficult to keep the news going, so we'll be here updating the site throughout the days and evenings, just like last year.

Why did Blues take this thread off the main page??
We didn't. Not manually anyway. The popular threads box only lists comment threads belonging to news stories of at most a week old, and thus this Morrowind thread has automatically expired off the list.

Heh I don't remember links, I am blessed with a fairly good visual memory so I recognized the images, and then it's just a matter of searching through our news archive and comparing with the links we posted to see where they first appeared.

It has nothing to do with nice or mean, it's not right to distribute leaked software. Blue will remove the link too when he gets to it first. So just knock off this silly cat and mouse game already.

News Comments > Fallout Fantasy Revealed?
29. Re: scratch that.. Apr 11, 2002, 18:44  Frans

Killian, I don't doubt that you're right. But both the French site and we simply reported on what looked to be valid information. The source of the confusion is then with Virgin Interactive France. Oh well...

News Comments > Fallout Fantasy Revealed?
25. Re: scratch that.. Apr 11, 2002, 18:02  Frans

I'd like to clarify that the release schedule, of which the French site forwarded a copy to us, specifies that Fallout Fantasy would be a PC title. We wouldn't have run the story otherwise (or at least not this prominently).

That doesn't mean the stories on Duck & Cover and Vault13 are wrong, it could well be that the schedule is inaccurate and that it simply copied some fields from the Icewind Dale 2 entry above it. I'll paste them from the Excel sheet here, but of course they'll likely get mashed together due to lack of column formatting:

Titre Sortie Support Test Preview News Genre Développeur Editeur/Distributeur Prix Euro

Icewind Dale 2 Sept. PC Sep-02 Jul-02 Jun-02 Action/RPG Black Isle Interplay/Virgin 53.21
Fallout Fantasy Sept. PC Sep-02 Jul-02 Jun-02 RPG Black Isle Interplay/Virgin 53.21

So there you go. More as we find out.

RPMgames.com has a pretty good review of jedi knight 2 not mentioned for some reason here.
That reason simply being that they didn't let us know about it (yet?). You did now though, so it'll be in tomorrow's list.

I think you mean Colombian..
Yes, turns out this is correct. It was misspelled two out of the three times the subtitle is mentioned in the press release we received, but the same announcement on a UK press site showed it correctly. Sorry about the confusion.
