Are you getting paid from FilePlanet or something?.. seems every file link on this site is only to FilePlanet
We are not, if we were we'd link to their personal server thingy instead of the regular download page. We simply post whatever site a file appears on first, and since Electronic Arts grants all its releases to FilePlanet, that's what you get.

Broad sweeping and inaccurate comments are so easy.

And FYI, there's already a mirror on 3D Gamers.

yeh...well, after playing 6 hours of the game, 40 seconds seems kinda short
I was talking about the movie series, remember? Most clips so far ran for 20-30 seconds, that makes 40 generous.

News Comments > WarCraft III Beta Patch
8. Re: :( Feb 13, 2002, 19:40  Frans

We've mentioned patches for the beta tests of Empire Earth, Battle Isle: Andosia War and Black Moon Chronicles (to name a few) in the past. That was never an issue. We feel that just because WarCraft III is perhaps more anticipated than those titles doesn't mean we should treat it differently.

I want to see a stick man FPS.
There was a first-person rail shooter that we linked sometime last year. I can't find it in the archive right now, but it turns out the site that hosts today's stick fighting movie carries a fairly complete archive of all these Flash movies and games:

http://www.inflash.com/leet/list_leet_shows_full.php?upperlimit=20&lowerlimit=0&cat=13&this_cat=StickDeath&where=shows

Including the rail shooter: http://www.inflash.com/leet/geturl.php?showid=304
It's a bit hard to play in that small window, so you may like use the direct Flash link: http://www.stileproject.com/fightgame.swf

Enjoy.

Uhm, a mirror is either local, or not a mirror at all.

Avault.com, they've got mirrors up for the new release.
FYI, they don't have local mirrors, they just have the same list of links to the official servers which are swamped or don't have the files. Our news story now lists some real mirrors.

News Comments > Medal of Honor Q&A
4. Re: No subject Feb 7, 2002, 12:35  Frans

The first answer provided in the Q&A is: "My title here at EA is franchise art director for the Medal of Honor series." And Blue wrote: "Matt is the art director for the Medal of Honor franchise, [...]"

I don't think there's an inaccuracy (much less a lie) in the story.

The latter is the download link.

Darkened Skye, that used to be Ozzy's Black Skies, isn't it?
Not at all. Darkened Skye was originally called Skittles: Darkened Sky. Ozzy's Black Skies was originally called Savage Skies, and when iROCK lost the Ozzy license, they renamed it back to that. What's in a name, huh?

6. Re: Cut-scene footage? Jan 23, 2002, 14:02  Frans

Maybe I've just missed something, but in the last month and more, I've seen all these posts regarding console game reviews, but they're *always* for the Xbox and the PS2. How come there aren't any GameCube reviews getting posted? It's not like there aren't any reviews to post, ya know...
We don't cover all gaming genres in Consolidation, we tend to focus on those games with past (eg. Max Payne, Elite Force, Giants, etc) or future (Halo, Grand Theft Auto III) PC counterparts, and stick mostly to action games, ported or native (Metal Gear Solid 2). About the only GameCube title fitting in there (to my knowledge) is Rogue Leader, and thus we have mentioned every review of it that came by - more than ten since the game's release - but few if any other titles. Over time, more GameCube ports of PC/Xbox/PS2 action titles are expected (eg. Agent Under Fire) and we'll be sure to mention those as well.

News Comments > Bid for Power Q3A
8. Re: No subject Jan 19, 2002, 13:16  Frans

blue, you need to further check into things before you post. it hasnt been involved with dragonball z for quite some time since funimation made them shut it down. they have now released it w/o any relation to dragonball.
First, blue didn't post that. Second, I got that initial Dragonball Z reference from their About page: http://www.bidforpower.com/about.php
I'm aware of the copyright issues but since they still listed DBZ on the site, who am I to argue? Anyway, they subsequently alerted us that that page is out of date, so I replaced it with the description from the FAQ page instead.

2. Re: No Source Code Jan 18, 2002, 20:44  Frans

Well, the emphasis should be on tools and id Software said in their mail, "tools for making maps and mods" hence the above phrase. But you're right, no source code is included so the options to make mods are rather limited, I guess.

They did (read their headline), but we know it's not (read my story). That GamesPress link requires signing up at the site though, it's intended solely for distributing press releases, screenshots etc. to gaming sites and not for the general public.

10. Re: PHP Jan 18, 2002, 11:00  Frans

If you're going to add scripting and database connectivity to Blues, why not look into PHP?
Because the news database, message board, .plan tracker and everything else is already Perl and MySQL - I'd like to stick with the program. I'm aware that PHP may be easier in some ways to get a new system off the ground, but we already have Perl modules for various parts of the site that I can hook into, which makes it more convenient to develop the new stuff in Perl as well, rather than mix programming systems.

And not to feed the trolls but I'm not a zealot for any particular language, I just try to use the one most suited to the task at hand, and Perl is a useful intermediary between Shell and C.

while on the topic of the forum: why doesnt the comments link open a new window like all the other links?
Only external links are affected by the Launch Links option, site-internal links like the comments, .plans and download pages use the same window.
am i alone in wanting these links open a new window too?
Possibly. I think it's kinda logical for a site like ours that only external links open a new window.
