I honestly don't know how a company with the money, talent and influence of Microsoft can so utterly screw up a concept that is good on paper. in latin, it's called Modus operandi.

i tried enabling GfW once, but it basically loaded a new profile and couldn't see my saved games. SO...anyone know of a way to move all of your saves/data over if you enable a GfW account after starting a game without a profile?
also, re: Dogmeat: I usually leave him at the house in Megaton. I'm assuming that telling him to go back to Vault 101 now (esp. with me being exiled currently) would be problematic.
(although hey, they never exiled HIM, just me)

Thanks Acleacius for confirming that EA did the right thing. i don't use EA forums, so ultimately it won't affect me in the least. the mouth-breathers who just like to start arguments online will be in for a treat though.

still don't understand who this is affecting. I've been playing games on the PC since there were games on the PC, and 've never experienced the kind of issues DRM supposedly creates. sure, i've played buggy games until the patches came out, and some games are just crappy, so there is that. i usually have a semi-decent rig at any given time, and i know another problem is often people still trying to run hardware that was state-of-the-art 4-5 years ago, and insist that the publisher accommodate their chintzy configurations .
i always assumed it was primarily pirates, and people running virtual CD software. (i.e; pirates) if you look at the forums whenever a debacle regarding DRM comes up, i would also guess the demographic most affected are 12-year old spoiled brats with trust-funds.

i'm assuming that the recent wave of console game piracy is directly due to the studio celebretards who eschewed the PC in favor of consoles.

agreed with "if you're going to use a gamepad, buy it for a console...".
i own both, but i prefer any shooter/fps on a pc using the keyboard and mouse...period.
glad that someone in the industry is asking these questions about shoddy console-to-PC ports, regardless. it can only help me, the consumer.

Hurray, the UAE. Now it'll be fun to casually tell people in Best Buy that the CPU in the system they're looking at is financed by the Saudis. Joe Sixpack's gonna have a conniption-fit...

the little (1.1? iirc) patch they put out strangely fixed the problem i had with enemy ai weirdness. it's still pretty elementary, but i started playing again the other night and couldn't stop. the pedestrian and ally chatter gets old FAST, as they repeat the same 2 or 3 lines ad nauseum, but i can kinda ignore it after a while.
so, yes, it's fun...but wait and see if they release another patch, then purchase.

edit: after seeing ranier's post: it never crashed for me, either, but i recently did a clean install of the OS. also, if you're unsure about it, just grab the demo and check it out!

Thanks for the newsflash, Chief, but I'm well aware of how the game works and have read the manual.
OK, so I should remember to honk the horn prior to leaving a vehicle in the game...or would you possibly think that maybe when the enemy sees me get out, that my status would change automatically??
What you might not have gathered from my post is that I can walk into ENEMY CAMPS and they WILL NOT SHOOT ME. I mean, i thought it was still the tutorial or something, but the first mission i went on involved me walking around and using my melee attack to off EVERY ENEMY SOLDIER without one shot being fired at me. NONE. ZERO. NADA. However, get into ANY VEHICLE (enemy or non) and the AI starts shooting at me like i'm public enemy #1. Get OUT, and they continue shooting the vehicle and LEAVE ME ALONE COMPLETELY. Something ain't right there...

more like a solid 4.9 out of 10.

the best part is where the enemies don't shoot at you unless you're in a vehicle...and once you leave the vehicle, continue shooting it but not at you.
Would've been happier if they just pulled an "Armed Assault" and repackeaged the first Mercs game with updated graphics and brought it to PC's.

I've never understood why method of delivery is such a reason for bitchfests these days. Why doesn't anyone play the fun games anymore? \ convenience. i use steam, and don't want another account somewhere else to do the same thing. besides, the complaint isn't the delivery method...it's the tacked on $5 to play it on PC, when it doesn't come with any sort of value-added features. Hell, at least throw us the Level Editor bone or something. :\
