i won't be buying another isa game on spec anymore until i have read reviews and heard what others have to say instead of just trusting what he says is being delivered.

To buy something just because of what one man says is just foolish... even if it is Warren Spector. There's been so many disappointing instances with games thanks to over-hyping or empty promises that I'm surprised that people still rush to buy and then are shocked they get burned.

The man has been around the gaming industry for quite some time and has a bunch of incredible games under his belt. So, even if a bum game does come out, the man still has my respect. Is Steven Spielberg a hack because of 1941?

it's not just you.

It's nice to see that Red Dead Revolver got picked up. Wonder if they'll still be using the existing works of Ennio Morricone like Capcom was going to.

but I really dug the vintage feel of Mafia. I'd be more interested in playing an Elliot Ness-character -- an "Untouchable" cop or something during prohibition.

That's one way of doing it. Maybe take on the role of the cop in the first one? Definite possibilities... the Mafia tries to take out your family and you eventually end up fighting the mafia on their terms instead of walking the straight and narrow (ala "the chicago way" of things)... ooh, ooh, ooh! Teeming with possiblities!:D

I would give anything if there was a Keystone cops moment in it...

Anyhoo, I do agree that one of the charms of Mafia was the authenticity of that classic era. The idea of pulling out a cutter from underneath your trenchcoat... Running around bootlegging... gotta love it! Maybe they'll put in a BAR whipit gun in the sequel.

I've noted the trend of shrinking PC game sections for quite awhile.... When I was in Albany, the EB in the big mall over there usded to have an above average selection. But little by little it shrank to miniscule proportions within three years and was ever increasingly pushed to the back of the store. (Fortunately they did move some of their stock to an EBX which was like 5 feet away). It is a bit disconcerting...

Luckily the gamestop I go to now has a pretty nice selection... plus I get a discount there

One the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing and listening (love the music where you're chasing the guy through the countryside)... I only had a few small gripes about it though. First, they played up the love angle and then did absolutely nothing with it. And the fact that the coppers are always gunning after me in a chase (I know gameplay-wise it had to be you but it still would've been nice to see the other car get smacked once or twice).

It's going to be interesting to see where Illusion is going to take the storyline...

I'd rather see some new properties created. I really can do without Grim Fandango 2 at this point. It's like someone going back and doing a sequel to Citizen Kane or Casablanca. Plus, Escape from Monkey Island was half-assed compared to it's brethren and Full Throttle 2 looked to disappoint.

As far as the Star Wars stuff is concerned, as long as it ends up being top-notch stuff (which doesn't seem too likely) I don't mind. Curious as to how this'll turn out since I've been dreaming about this since forever.

...I guess I'll wait for their Star Wars adventure game now.

Well Activision was created because Atari treated it's programmers like shite. Namely they were underpaid and didn't even want to credit them their work done. So hopefully they haven't forgotten where they came from.

dude this can't be right ww2? i thought we were moving onto the silver age of comics?

Freedom Force was about the silver age, so having them go back (I'm guessing through some time travel spiel since FF was founded in the first game) would pay homage to the golden age of comics.

Disappointed that they didn't follow through with the original plans, but it'd nice to kick some Red Skull equivalent, uber-kraut ass.

same here... I thought they changed the name of the title or something

got around to actually reading the article and was pleasantly surprised. I guess my prayers were answered, even if its not done by Creative Assembly. I just hope it'll be as good, if not better, than the total war series.

I can just imagine it now... the forces of Gondor are getting pushed back when suddenly members of the fellowship show up and start kicking ass and the fellowship theme starts blaring.

Reminds me of the mini-game in the NES Karate Kid title... Catching flies was a pain in the ass then and it's a pain in the ass now!

Sad to hear Bronson go. Although he was in a lot of great flicks, Death Wish 3 holds a special place in my heart. Maybe it's the bad-ass gang leader with freckles. Maybe it's that you can clearly see gang members who are in their 40s. One of the most violent, yet hilarious movies...

That reminds me of this bit on Conan where you can get your penis enhanced, refinance your home, and find the skankiest housewives all on one site.

I've never had any problems with the ads here (ringing, chirping, or otherwise). Maybe I'm just lucky.

Thankfully there's only one that drives around my part of Brooklyn. By the time he goes by my place (usually dusk) he rarely even plays it... driver must've gotten his fill of by then.

I was actually disappointed that I didn't remember it so I scoured the net for it. Now I can't get this damn song out of my head.

Gotta find some equally obnoxious song to flush it out.

I have nothing but love for the film noir-type narrative... Max Payne was just a piss poor example.

Pick up some Frank Miller or pick up some of the classic films from the 40s/50s. That's some great stuff.

Geez, I'm so tired of hearing about HL2. Probably from all that anti-aliasing and (un)delayed hubbub that erupted recently.

I'll just be happy on Sept. 30 (or whatever date it happens to be).

i dont like this nintendo points thing... especially since i bought 15 games for the system already and of course will get nothing for it... i don't want special edition controllers anyways

I'm surprised nobody has implemented something like this already. Now if some of the free gifts were things simliar to that rerelease of Ocarina of Time/Master Quest, then they've got something going.

Well, people probably call it a western because it was (I believe) a remake of 'A Fistfull of Dollars'. Of course that movie was a remake of Kurosawa's 'Yojimbo'. So, basically, Last Man Standing is a Prohibition-era samurai movie.

Dang it, I wanted to point it out.
Samurai and Western movies are nearly synonymous.

I just love how every news item on a Western game inevitably turns into a "Man, Outlaws was great!" discussion. Hopefully, since LucasArts is busy making sequels to Full Throttle and Sam & Max, they'll move onto making Outlaws 2: The Search for Curly's Gold.

I wouldnt be surprised if the "wild west" becomes the new "WWII" in terms of video game conceptualization.

There's a bunch already in production now. Human Heads recently had their game previewed on gamespy. Capcom has Red Dead Revolver. Although, if I remember correctly, the latter is in a murky situation. There's probably one or two that've slipped my mind.

Maybe they're dream sequences about show stopping bugs....

Never ran into any bugs on my pass through it. But if there was one where I didn't have to listen to such amazing lines as, "She wasn't a stone cold killer, but she was stone cold dead." I wouldn't mind.

"The game is described as an action shooter with multiplayer support for up to four players."

Four players? What is this Doom 3? (Albeit the latter case is undestandable)

I'll probably end up going to see it in theaters but for the game, I wouldn't hold my breath on it being anything... substantial, to say the least.
