There is a main Campaign mode. That is mission oriented and you work directly as a military commander.

I never do that. I play the "raom" mode which lets to pick your class and status like Terran police commander, or Some alien race pilot or marine.. there are a ton of options. Then you Turn yourself loose on the playable universe. You have to raise your own cash by mining and selling with drones, or trade routes between space stations looking for all the deals etc. Then you have your ship or Squad and you just go for it. thats where the immagination comes in. You have to come up with your own reasons for doing stuff and do it.

Like if you decide to be a raider or mercinary. You can chose who you want to work for by doing raids on the races that are at war with them. If you are police you can gallyvant around destroying all the raider bases and ships etc.

The one i am currently doing is a Commander carrer as a Mercenary for the terrans. Where i am taking out insurgents and enemy raiders. I tried Scientist and explorer so far as well. But they really didnt suit me.

The multiplayer is cool. You get, i think, up to 16 people with their own fleets going at it accross the universe. You can set up scinarios where one side has to defend a space station or planetary base and the other attacks. Or just have an all out war or team war. With pople flying fighters, capital ships, or getting in space suits shooting it out. or like i said fighting on the surface. With tanmks, fighters, hovercraft and even a couple of naval vessels.

Say what you like.

This game rocks. If any of you have any hankering towards Sci-fi and simulation give a world appart a shot. I know there is a lot of hate for Derek Smart etc. But this game has really come a long long way and its just awesome.

The new graphics engine is nice not perfect but nice. The Fps mode on planets is a *whole* lot better. Again its not quake but its cool.

Its hard to explain, but its just frikking cool to leave your space carrier on a shuttle with a squad of marines and a couple of space fighter escorts and go down to the surface of some planet and blast the crap out of a base or cuity, land get out with your team and take on the NPC defenders. Go into their base steal one of their chopper like fighters and blow them to heck with it. Then fly back home or have your carrier beam you back to the ship.

Its hard to learn, but it all works like its supposed to. Its a really rewarding game. Its not a spoon fed plot game. You have to have some immagination and some some sense of space opera in your blood to really appriciate it.

I gurantee that any of you that are not just quake junkies etc that give this game a try will see exactly what i am talking about.

Team fortress 2 does not count. They decided to go a different direction and now they are going to get that project back on track. All successful developers make changes like this.

That is just nonsense.

There is nothing to "gripe" about unless you are some whinny pansy who wants everything YOUR way and you wnat it NOW.

Steam is awesome. I like it. I am sick of the moronic whining about it. Valve has done nothing to any of you.

Oh and "valve time" jokes. They took an extra year to release HL2 BIG DEAL. None of their other projects that they have publicaly stated for release have had major delays. They are Constantly working on and tweaking their released multiplayer games. They are constantly releasing new content for them. And they released Blue shift LESS than the 2 weeks they said they needed.

I really wish you people would cut the crap. especially morons like tumbler.

Jesus as in the *messiah* the King of all creation Does not need to be Blasphemed or used as a swear word for some pinhead with no vocabulary.

One day when you all find out the hard way that you have been slandering the Guy who Died for you and paid for your Sin.. It's not going to be pretty.

You want to use a *diety* to swear use Buddah or Allah. Its not like they will ever know.

You guys act like there were this plethera of coop games out there.

There have hardly *ever* been any coop games. The origional Serious Sam was about the only notable one. Perhaps there is a few more at best.

All i can say is i remember reading thead after thread of game announcement after announcement where we all cry and whine becuase yet *another* dev claims that Coop is dumb or just wont support it. Which makes just about everyone yell.. "Are you guys smoking crack?" "or do you just have your head up your *** "

Reading through threads like this can cause you to burst a kidney.

I am so freaking frustrated after reading some of the most retarded crap posts i have seen in a while.

For starters the graphics.

Anyone who says these graphics are inferior to doom III is a complete and total FOOL. Do you people even pay attention? This game Combines Real time lighting *With* high res textures and *with* high and varied levels of Bump mapping and Shaders and *with* extremely high polly models.

I mean seriously folks. Its like half of you took STUPID PILLS just because an occasional crate is to square. This game puts Doom-III and H2 to shame graphically for what it does. I read some of these posts before i played the demo and found myself getting more and more pissed off with each new area. Starting right off the bat. Did you guys even look at the details in the models? Did you even look at how high detail the wall, Concrete, floor etc etc textures are? Then to all be Normal mapped with volumetric lighting???

Its infuriating reading the rubbish posts in this thread.

Why is it a resource hog? why is it a resource hog? You have to be biased or Blind as a freaking bat or just plain stupid not to see why. High poly models, high res textures, Normal maps, multiple shaders and Volumetric lighting with soft shadows.

I still cant even believe that anyone in their right mind can call the graphics worse than Doom. You have to be flat stupid. Period.

Then the Mood and AI, and Story pacing are a notch above anything i have recently played on the PC. Some Console games have equaled or surpassed this but not many. This is right up there with the best.

I seriously think that several people here see that its Monolith or "lithtech" related and just slam the crap out of it because it makes their id fanboy blood feel warm.

Its total nonsense. This game should easily be Game of the year as far as i can tell.

I just reactivated my Anarchy Online account after 2 years away. Even then i only played for 6 months or so off an on.

I have tried a few other MMORPG games and still to this day AO is the best of them imo. I like the graphics even now the world is plesant to look at. I really like teh sci-fi setting. The random mission generator, the ability to solo and group. team missions are bigger and more complex than solo missions. I like the hunting areas, the weapons, nano tech, the mobs etc.

If you guys have not tried AO or have been away for a while give it a shot. they are sitting at about 20,000 players on 2 servers which makes for a nice population. I played SWG for about a month and just did not like it as much as AO.

AO is a good game that deserves a sequel of some kind with a modern graphics engine and some improvement in some of its areas that are weak. its still a little laggy here and there and the skill system could be a bit better.

So its ok for the idiots on this forum who Vehemently hate the game for ridiculous reasons.. and post mindless flame attack after flame attack... in thread anter thread...

They are obviously completely normal and ok. But if someone posts that they like the game you have to point it out and "wonder why".

Tells me that you are likely just another biased lamer who has to mindlessly attack the game or people who play it becuase of some inferiority complex you have.

Or maybe you just suck and cant take it.

yeah this is the demo but the numbers carry over to the full game. ATi cards run circles around Nvidia cards in BF2.

This thread is mostly BS..

The Radeon Cards run BF2 better than Nvidia cards. Look at any benchmark numbers you chose to. If you cant get it to run right on your system then YOU are just doing something wrong.

I am sure the graphics engine will be just fine and the game will look great when ite finally released.

The problem is they took the meat out of the game months ago. The whole online miltiplayer, teams of 4 going in against other teams to get samples for cash and put the smack down on each other. That was the only real draw other than the graphics engine and how it looked *2 years ago*..

I really see no point to this game whatsoever. Sounds like they are trying to t urn it into a single player HL like experience. I wonder if the 10KM area playfied is even going to be wide open and free roaming anymore.

They should have stuck to what they started out to do and RELEASED IT.

STEAM SINGLE PLAYER GAMES WORK JUST FINE WITH STEAM OFFLINE.

That's the problem- it looks like there won't be two methods for playing Sin2. And on a side note, Steam is not a 'cool' idea. It's a plain old idea, that's been done many, many times before. The difference is, Steam makes you a bitch, while the other methods leave you in control after you've handed over your money. But, hey... if Steam's method works for you, enjoy!

"Are there ANY recent games that allow you to stream data off the CD?"

Some, yes... but I thought the reason PC games were going to DVD was so the problem of 3gig installs could be somewhat dealt with.

What you have just posted is just seriously STUPID. Where the hell do you people come from? Did your mama drop you on your head one to many times? seriously. WHERE DO YOU PEOPLE COME FROM. There is a serious case of *stupid* that has hit far to many people that post total stupidity here.

Yeah, yeah.. steam is an *old* idea now. Sure its been around for ever. For years and years we have had client based pay delivery content for games. Yeah.. heck everyoneís doing it. Valve just did the same thing everyone else is doing a lot worse in order to screw you over.

I ask you, Do people like you actually THINK about this kind of crap before you post?? Obviously not.

Here is a freaking clue for you buddy. NO ONE ELSE IS DOING WHAT STEAM IS DOING OR HAS DONE IT BEFORE THEM. They are the first and digital content delivery is the way of the future. It is a *Cool* idea. I like the idea and so do a lot of other people with COMMON SENSE. You buy the game it downloads into a completely self contained directory which you can move to any PC you want and a simple tiny client install has everything in your steam Directory working again. No reinstalls. No keeping the CD's unless you make a backup yourself. You want your game at a friends house? just log in and download the content. Its that simple.

I hope Tons of games start to support Steam. I would love to buy my games through my established Steam account and have a record of it so i can get copies of it whenever i want. I want to preload the game days before so it goes live at 12:01 AM release day and i can play it.

You probably donít get any of this but try. Its not that difficult. But please no more MORONIC COMMENTS about how this has been done by everyone else already.

Hmm well I researched before I did my last upgrade and frankly AMD couldnt touch the intel 3.0c hyper threading chip, so I dunno what you are all talking about. Understand this is at the time I bought it, the 3.0c 800 FSB was the fastest thing around, best AMD could do was 533 FSB. Also AMD has had alot more f'd chips then intel.

That is totally and completely inacurate. You have to be a biased blind fanboy. AMD has never even had a 533mhz FSB that was INTEL. Intel had the fastest processor for about 3 months total time when they first came out with the HT processor. But you had to spend 1000$ on the chip alone at the time to get that level of performance.

For Gaming and basic applications Semprons, later generation Athlon XP's and especially Athlon 64's Just wail all over the Intel Lineup. Plus for the last couple years Amd's Processors have run much cooler and used less power.
