I played AO for about 6 months at the early part of last year - it does look like poo, even the much vaulted shadowlands. Also there was precisely 0 content. It is no more then a rather ugly grind mmo - you can get much better for free on the net now. And they may involve killing more then just hecks for 220 levels.

Oh it also sucessfully brings my PC to it's knees in terms of frame rate which EQ2 could on the highest settings whilst WOW could not even make the FPS flicker from 60. (3500+ 7800GT 2GB ram)

Even the AI raids were essentially just 1 instance from a decent MMO - but they sold that instance as if it were worthy of being an addon pack.

I'm in the 2142 Beta. It does indeed blow mightily. I like BF2 better then 2142. It may become playable at some point, but right now it's suffering from trying to add too much to an old engine.

PJ, I could not agree more. This time I wait a month or so to see what the game is really like. I still feel BF1942 was the best yet. Is that a shame or what? BF:V, what a joke! BF2 for me was not much at all. From the start it was just another BF1942 with better graphics, required a new $700.00 card and system to play. I fell for it hook line and sinker too. Built a new system for it before it came out. To the tune of almost 2K. Talk about a loyal FPS shooter fan. I'm that guy. I am just so tired of being screwed, I have gone back to playing Tribes and still have a blast. Sure the graphics are not as good but tha gameplay is still great.

We currently have well over 40 maps in development. Some of those may be cut, but you should expect UT 2007 to ship with a comparable number of maps to past UT releases (UT2004, which had two games worth of maps excepted).
Who cares about how many maps they are going to ship ...

EA would actuire Crytek because they do not have a very strong foot hold in the FPS market, not because they want to crush the competition. EA's share of the FPS/Action genre is very minimal, even with the BF and MOH franchises and they see that area as room for growth.
