News Comments > Shellshock: Nam '67 Gold and Delayed
4. Re: Delayed Jun 17, 2004, 12:06 sc4r4b

I was just reading an article which mentions that game publishers believe gamers don't buy games during the summer and that they like to hold off on selling games until the winter holidays. It doesn't make sense to me... Why would they want to compete with every other decent game being released at that time? A few good games suffered lack luster sales last winter mainly because of the fact that there was too much competition. For example, Beyond Good and Evil was a great game, that no one bought because it was released at the same time as 50 other "Holiday" games.

When I was younger and I had more time to game, it was during the summer... when it was too fucking hot to go out side.

I guess the publishers are too greedy to realize that Xmas winter isn't the only time they can get the parents out to WalMart to spend some cash.

*edit
I am sure this game sucks anyway....

Yeah, I have really gotten into VNV Nation in the past year. Assemblage 23 and Icon of Coil are a couple of others I have in high rotation...

Here are some skinny puppy rehearsal images... Makes me wish I still took acid.

42. Tear Garden Jun 11, 2004, 14:57 sc4r4b

im not a huge fan of skinny puppy per se, but I am a big fan of tear garden, which is the collaboration between skinny puppy and the legendary pink dots... at the recent dots show i was chatting with the fellas about that ever present intent to do a tear garden tour - and its still "on the table"... which isnt really heartening since they've been saying that for over a decade now

Yeah, Cevin Key was just saying that a tear garden album may be in the works... The Teargarden version of "the center bullet" is an outstanding track.

Never been too much of a fan, actually. More of a Front Line Assembly fan (who started in SP, I believe). I've got an old single for "Dig It" somewhere, and a couple of Download promos (Eyes of Stanley Payne, can't remember the other one) and that's it...I did like pieces of The Process though.

The new SP album is really good... you should check it out. It was permanently lodged in my CD player for the past few months... I got a... uh, advance copy of it. However, I did run out and buy it when it was released. FLA and download are on a lot of my playlists as well...

Good to see someone's advertising it. I was surprised NIN didn't put a link up. Pretty cool album, sounds very different than earlier Skinny Puppy but is still just as awesome. I especially like Pro-Teste and Ghostman.

Yeah I am digging the Past Present track... I get to see skinny puppy and tweaker this month on the 27th! I can't wait...

DP with a little lime and seasoning makes a good marinade for slow cooked brisket.
my god that sounds... good actually

It is... the DP will actually caramelize on the brisket. Kinda like a honey baked ham.

Here's the recipe for the marinade... I like to add a little tony chachere's seasoning to it as well.

1 cup Dr. Pepper (not diet)
1/4 cup dark soy sauce
1/4 cup lime juice
1-1/2 cup oil
1 tsp hot sauce

Instructions
Mix ingredients all together and place with meat in a sealed container overnight. Remove meat from marinade. Boil leftover marinade for 5 minutes. Place meat on a heated grill (Or slow cook it in the oven covered for about 8 hours at 200 degrees, for the first 6 hours cover it with foil.), and cook to desired tenderness, basting with the marinade.

DP is my number 2, after the Dew. I live in Texas so I am fortunate enough to find DP at most restaurants. Unlike Mountain Dew... DP with a little lime and seasoning makes a good marinade for slow cooked brisket.

We don't buy any games, we BT them. If somebody comes up with a PC game format that can't be cracked then PC sales will look a lot healthier.

Speak for yourself man... I buy all of my games. Fortunately, there haven't been very main worth buying in the past year. Otherwise i'd be poor...

29. Re: Rubberbanding May 18, 2004, 11:32 sc4r4b

Rubberbanding is not as bad as people make it out to be... The game was not that difficult I played through it twice and didn't drop the difficulty to medium/normal until around level 70. The rubberband element keeps the tension up on the players and it makes them feel like they are in a race. As opposed to just running through the track by themselves...

Anyway, I understand why the devs made the game that way.

I want replays and user friendly MP modes.

I know what you are saying... I played through Mario64 and I have played many other games with similar control schemes. None of them are perfect though. I fell off many a ledge in mario and sonic. Not to mention almost everyone complains about camera controls in third person games...

All I'm saying is that it is not impossible to become acclimated to using a mouse and keyboard in a third person game.

It is not impossible to use the keyboard to fly the helicoptor in GTA:VC. I did it... However it was not easy, but after a while I got the hang of it.

The 20 min, time limit in Pitfall sucked... I could never beat the clock... Pitfall 2 was the last game I bought and beat for my 2600.

hebrew-- Instead of merely stating your opinion why don't you give us some more information on why ToCa is so great.

I'll admit that I went and check out the ToCa website but I didn't see nor read anything about the game that I found interesting.

Does this ToCa allow you to speed through a city with regular street traffic like in NFS:U and MCII? Or is it a straight up racing sim where you just drive around a race track?
