Christ... If I had half the budget and the same amount of time that some of these software developers have, I could create a game better than this... Seriously.
Just because a game sells a lot doesn't mean it is good...

It did seem weird at first, but I got over it... Anyway, if you are disappointed with Half-Life2 please share with us what games you do enjoy so we can see where you are coming from... because frankly your argument about not seeing your hands steering is kinda lame...

John, bad move on your part. Not to make you feel bad or anything, but if you'd read the steam forums you'd find that 99 percent of people are disappointed with and/or hate the retail versions of half-life 2. The regular comes with no manual and the game on 5 discs in thin paper sleeves. The collectors edition comes on a DVD, with a simple t-shirt, no manual, and a small prima guide SAMPLE. Compared to the comprable steam packages, they really really suck. Prepare to be disappointed (and to also have some issues with installation and activation, not the mention the fact that even though youre FORCED to use steam, you will HAVE to have your cd in the drive. :\. People will always find something to bitch and moan about. The fact that they are whining about this shit just goes to show that the game is so fucking good they have to find something this insignificant to moan about.
Whaaa, there's no manual! I have to have the CD in like every other game I have ever bought close to the release. This Tshirt sucks, I have bought Tshirts at the gap for the same price! Whaaa my pussy hurts! --whiny gamer
Spare me, please... I bought retail and I am completely satisfied with the experience. This has to be the best single-player game I have ever played.
On Topic- I hope we get an official HL2 DM... Of course, TF would be outstanding too.

Now that I've played HL2 through 3 or 4 times, I'm finding myself thinking, now what?
Get a life? I'm sorry... I am just envious because I have to trade sleep for game time.

About the stutter problem: What the hell?! I guess all of you guys have lower memory then 1 gig, right?
I have read about people with 2GB of RAM having the stutter BUG.
Anyway, like others have stated this only happens upon loading a new level... it hasn't interferred with the game play, but my daughter likes to point it out whenever it happens.

JM - I'm on the same level... You really can't miss the entrance. Just take out all of the enemies then explore. This part is not meant to stump you man. You can figure it out with out a hint.

Well, I am on the prison level... hopefully I am only halfway through the game. It would suck if I played through the entire game with this bug. I mean, the stutter issue has been a pock mark on an otherwise beautiful game.

And how did this get off on Sims2 vs. T:V vs. HL2? They were released close to each other... I only mentioned it because it seemed like there was more of a buzz about the Sims2 here on the boards after they were released.
Anyway, at least you all picked up T:V... too bad no one is playing it.
nin, at least you have taste in music.

The guys on Penny Arcade ranted about it a couple of weeks ago how the people who didn't even buy the first game got to determine its direction by complaining that they didn't buy the first one because it had too many puzzles.
Damn, I was one of those people... sorry. Anyway, now I am looking forward to picking this one up. Just as long as the action doesn't get to repetitive.

Nice, nin. Sometimes it's fun to flame.
Anyway, I'm done with this. It was nice to have a decent discussion in the beginning. Too bad the thread was derailed.
I just hope Valve or a mod team gives us a real (instead of the workaround) DM mode to exploit.

Yeah that's what I figured... Go ahead then, ignore my explanation...
In the future you should try to offer more constructive criticism, as opposed to being a shameless egocentric asshole. Then maybe people will take you and your opinions seriously.
Here's another word for you to look up, hypocrite.

Q2 DM was great, too. The level with the long, curving stairways? The Edge? It was my favorite... Hell, the first time I ever played an online game was on that map. I remember my first frag ever at the top of the lift...

Zephalephelah- I don't see why you question my maturity level of suggesting a dodge ball type of mod... I think the idea is somewhat unique and could exploit the engines physics as well as feature a cool new weapon from the game. I agree it's a simple thought, because I was trying to think of a simple fun mod that perhaps I could create while cutting my teeth on coding. I just threw the idea out there to see what people thought. I really didn't expect the thread to blossom into a brainstorming session.
Of course, I have better more involved ideas but like any inventor or game designer there are some ideas you MUST keep to yourself because they are that fucking good.
In closing, there's no need to for you to question my maturity level because I think this next statement really shows that I am in fact, really immature...
Zephalephelah, lick my taint.
----------------------------------- On topic- I think a HL2: DM would be pretty cool... new weapons, physics, interesting semi-destructible environments, etc.... Sure it would be somewhat similar to Half-life DM or any other FPS:DM for that matter, but the engine has a lot of potential. I'm just looking at it from an amateur mappers point of view.
