They had this game running on 2 PC's at the activision booth during quakecon. They have put in some really neat looking particle effects on the weapons The outdoor envirnments I saw running reminded me of JKII.

This is what makes me really wonder just what 3DR has going on right now. C'mon not a single leak in how long? Maybe ever. How could their internal controls be that much better than Epic or id? Maybe because in the case of Duke Nukem Takes 4ever, they don't have anything to show. Hehe, I mean we've already seen Unreal2TechnologyAlpha leak, and now DoomIII. I too would find it hard to believe 3DR is really that much more secure!

Has anyone noticed that Fileplanets download subscription service no longer goes above 150k sec? Also, in the past 3 days I haven't gotten anything faster than 100k. Hump, on my university connection i get a consistent 600~850KB (not Kb) as a FP subscriber (i subscribed only to get the ac2 beta files).

I can not stand diet coke or any other item with the name diet in front of it (meaning sugar-substitute). I get intense headaches, and generally feel the need to vomit. But for some reason penguin mints do not have this effect on me. They're great company while warming up before a match, or even to keep alert during a lab. My favorite combo (I call it the "super-slam") is 3Penguin cinnamons; 1Penguin peppermint; and 3 peppermint warp mints. Ray: you owe it to yourself to taste this stuff! They were selling truckloads (ok...well almost truckloads) of this stuff at quakecon, so I had to buy a case Wow! This is good stuff. Well today I had to get off campus, so I drove to EB and put 5 bucks down on NOLF2 and canceled my amazon order. It turns out October 3rd (wednesday) I have a test @2PM (my last class that day) so as a reward for finishing it I'm gonna drive to EB and pick up the game :). Also EB will pricematch say your local bestbuy if they advertise the title for 34.99 within 4 weeks of the purchase date I'd also like to add some input on picking up pc games the day of their release @bestbuy...DONT DO IT BB is very iffy on when their shipments arrive. And 1 more: Has anyone seen the dead or alive: volleyball 2003 calender

Well all...I am truly a sad man. I was at amazon and was looking around a bit (a bad thing to do when you want to buy something) and I said "F^k it" I'm using my $5 off coupon. Once I finally got things squared away (diff cc# and shipping addy) I was comparing my shipping options. I immediately selected 1-day air and after the coupon the total came to 54.97. I double checked their shipping policies...etc and came to a few observations: 1. NOLF 2 is in 17th place in amazon.com sales rank 2.With "standard, free" shipping the expected ship date was listed as october 7. When I moved the shipping options down to 1-day it said the item would ship on the first. This has lead me to believe the game has a pretty high chance of shipping out on the first. Now to the part that makes me mildly ashamed to post on bluesnews. I was all gung-ho on my next-day shipping, but something inside of me made me click the "2-day air" radio button just to see what effect it would have on the total price. With 2-day air the price dropped from 54.97 to a "low" 48.97! I thought holy Sh!t! thats six bucks just to wait a day...In fact 48.97 ain't that bad of a price to pay for a game shipped to begin with...so my point in all this is I ended up giving in to the voice of reason and the fear of college loans. I have now pre-ordered NOLF2 for 48.97 w/ sniff* 2-day shipping. But hey, at least the game is pre-ordered BTW I do intend to contact amazon and get more reassurance the game WILL ship on or before the 1st of october.

Thanks for the heads up Ray. I was hoping I could amazon it next-day as I have a $5 off coupon and I wouldn't have to pay salestax, but unfortunately with gamestop and EBworld I do (I'm in texas) . I might just make the drive down to EB (35 miles according to their map) and pre-order the game. Then I can be sure to get it on the second of october. And make the drive after class is finished on the second and stay up late playing cate archer goodness . MU, you are really pathetic. I myself am a college student and if I can afford to support kickass game developers so can you

On a similar note: I am debating whether or not to preorder NOLF2 through amazon.com. Are they consistent with listed game release dates? I am ashamed to say it, but my new school is 45minutes from the nearest EB or Gamestop So if I order next-day air with amazon, do you think I would get the game on the second of october? Thanks

I upgraded to my ti4400 (oc'ed to 4600 speed) from a radeon7500 and the one thing my radeon could do right was anisotropic filtering! There was generally just a 7~15% performance hit for using the max aniso setting. Now with my 4400 this thing starts to cry whenever ansio is enabled! Its kinda pathetic when you think about it, but the 4400 has better trilinear filtering so it "sorta" makes up for it. But yes, I DO NOT enable aniso is any game except Q3 and in that I can only enable 4tap@1280*1024. Anything higher will take the rate below "liquid smooth". On a related note UT2003 does perform quite well

Wow, what a weekend! Last night I was treated to a victory by the HOUSTON TEXANS!!!! (w00t!) and as a side note, for those of you who follow the big XII Baylor University actually won a game. In fact they won it 50 to 12. Go bears!
