I had fun with it on PC but it does have its control quirks. It's difficult to drive with precision when depressed keys will occasionally stop, like say if you're trying to steer left and suddenly it stops. Just have to push the key again but it's still a pain in the ass, though it doesn't happen nearly as often as reviews would have you believe, at least not for me. I never encountered a problem with rebinding keys either, but I used the default scheme and the layout was more than acceptable. For $7.50 you can't afford to pass on it, especially if you like GTA style games. I have beaten Saints Row 2 at least half a dozen times now, and I don't know how many times I've started it up just to screw around and have some mindless fun. I never even made it halfway through GTA IV.
edit: Also, playing the entire game cooperatively is a blast. To me the game was way more than worth it at full price. For $7.50 it's a must have.

It is nice that it's possible to get level cap and class unlocks by playing, but it'd be nicer to know the odds of actually scoring them.

Don't know if I'd even consider L4D2 if I can't find it for $20 or less. L4D was a lot of fun, but L4D2 is going to have to be either wildly different or considerably better than the original if they want more than $20 out of me. That or they're going to have to actually release extra content first.

Not a fan of more inefficient regulation but I like this CALM idea. I go to the kitchen during commercial breaks because the show's not on and because I don't care to watch the commercials, which is precisely why they're so loud your neighbors can hear them.

I'm sure they've always seen the problem, but if it's not up to them there's nothing they can do. And there is a "need" to keep sales data a secret. No retailer wants hard numbers as proof that they're not selling as much as a competitor, that drives away stockholders. Same with publishers. Neither of them are going to come out and say "Whoa, the other guy is cleaning our clocks. Just look at these numbers!"

Where do get that nonsense? Publishers state sales numbers all the time. Hit the nail on the head. Valve probably publishes less than 2% of its distribution catalog. If they only reveal their own numbers, just as many people will complain as do now.

Hell, I'd always get a portable because I can take it with me when the car gets replaced. And they're cheaper. And you can usually play with them in the store before you buy so you can get the one you like the most. And you can use them in or on any vehicle you have a suitable mount for, great for a friend or family member traveling out of town who has no sense of direction and certainly a smaller leap of faith than letting them borrow the whole car. And I imagine they'd be made to a higher standard simply because they have to be competitive, whereas the built-in kind are the "take it or take none" sort. And there's one for nearly any budget. And they're more versatile - can't take the built-in navigators on the trail with you, or on the lake, or in the air. I could do this all day long.

Not really, key industry personnel have said retail sales are still the highest by far. Makes sense. Can't be too awesome with American broadband. I noticed Company of Heroes Gold was on sale (the sales list Blue has here is the best thing since pizza delivery) and I couldn't resist the chance to basically get Opposing Fronts for 5 bucks. However, 7.7GB with an estimate of 24 hours download time... Would have been done around 3 hours from now had Firefox not crashed and taken all of the progress with it, so now maybe it will be done sometime in the next 16 hours. Broadband was supposed to stop all us dialup users from having to download something over a couple days straight... And then imagine if I had to deal with a bandwidth cap! At least here in the United States, broadband has a lot farther to go before digital distribution can take over, let alone if it does.

When Randy Pitchford makes a successful digital distribution service, he can spin it off into an independent company because it's his and he made it. Until then, he should enjoy everything his pretentiousness creates. If he doesn't like Valve's rules, he should create a different game, not continue thinking someone else's success entitles him to shit he didn't earn. But odds are, if he did that, he'd be taking cuts from sales about as big as what Valve takes because guess what? Server parts and maintenance don't get paid for with hugs and wishful thinking. Ultimately, why does Valve take as much of a cut as they do? Because they want it, and people give it to them. Who is losing if everyone is getting what they chose? Valve takes too much? Go somewhere else. There isn't anywhere else to go? Make your own. That's too much work? Get fucked.

Saying Oblivion is 86% off is kind of shady when you see that their regular price is still 50 bucks. How long has Oblivion been out? It's still cheap but not as cheap as one would expect for being 86% off.
edit: Damn, beat me to it! edit edit: I see all of their 80-90% offerings are the same. That's class. 90% off today's prices would be a steal; with GoGamer's prices, 90% off ends up being more like a 50% discount from anyone else. Here's the bait, and here's the switch.

I can't remember the last time I bought a game in a box. I also can't remember the last time I resold a game. Actually, I think it was in 2000 when I conned a guy at high school into buying my copy of Gangsters because it was a horrid game. I don't buy many games because I don't see many I want to buy. I'd be fine with an all-digital sales world, as long as it was done like Steam or D2D in that all of my games from both services have been available to redownload at any time for years and without paying a penny.

Don't mean to pick, but the L4D2 wallpaper reminds me of a very similar event in an original L4D campaign... standing on a vehicle's hood in a cornfield to fend off zombies. I don't mean to fuel any argument about whether or not L4D2 is a justifiable sequel or whatever but you just can't miss the similarities in that wallpaper heh.

I believe it. USPS has some of the most powerful unions in the country. In some departments, nothing short of felony crimes committed on company time will get you fired. When I was younger I'd always hear stories from my dad (electronics technician) about people who came in to sleep in plain sight, or people who brought in their broken radios and TVs and fixed them on company time with company parts and tools. You could even plainly tell your supervisor you weren't going to get done and you weren't even going to try, and he could do nothing about it because God himself could not remove a USPS electronics technician from his job.

All comes down to the monthly fee. If there's a monthly fee, the game had damn well better have everything in it accessible to those paying it. Not even Star Wars has the legs to support a scam scheme payment setup with a monthly fee and microtransactions. |
