1. Video game voice actors worry Dec 7, 2009, 12:22 Narf2029

I imagine this is the next step in the long chain of entertainment workers getting paid peanuts. $30,000 a year? I made almost as much unloading trucks. But then cartoon voice actors had to make their stink to get a decent wage and so did TV actors so I guess it's video game voice acting's turn to stand up and tell people they want to be paid for their work.

Turians were also all male because it saved them the disc space of having models and voice acting for the females. Also didn't use tactical combat myself. Pretty much every fight, I went in as though I was doing it all myself because, well, I was. If my teammates killed a guy now and then it was a happy accident. That and they covered my retreat well - better them than me!

Steam had Batman for $25 a couple weeks ago, shame you missed that. I'd been waiting for months for a sale like that. Never know, may come down again closer to Christmas.

TNG also used models, putting it before the CGI ships and the point made about them.

I'm not exceptionally worried. If people want to compare it to Champions I don't see that as a bad thing. Not a great thing either, but not bad. I've only done the free trials of Champions but they were well worth my time, and I've said before I'd probably buy the client if I found it for $20 or less. Since I'm not currently playing a Star Trek MMO, I'd also buy Star Trek Online for $20 even at launch day, either through a sale or gift cards or both. Don't feel the need for a free trial this time but I'll certainly take one.

Loved SH3 to death. Really captured the boredom of patrols, the excitement of the kill and the tension and fear of being depth charged by destroyers. It's like playing Das Boot.

I figure if someone gives me a Best Buy gift card this Christmas or some other scheme enables $30 off, I'll be unable to pass up trying this at launch day despite all wisdom and experience.

I wouldn't call Valve's Steam solution intrusive, as feature-rich as it is. Sure you have to run Steam to play a Steam game - so what? If you're on a system that can't handle playing a game with Steam going, send it back to 1995.

Yes, because being the current leader of market share is the only sign of success. Popularity, not profitability, is the hallmark of successful companies.

By that argument, they have still failed. A market share of only 6-10% is not even a significant minority, let alone popular. In all likelihood they are probably quite profitable given the price of their products - even if you allowed for a 25% markup over cost, there is simply no way it actually costs them nearly that much to build their products. I would have to agree that Apple failed in the sense that their market share is so small despite being around for only a year less than Microsoft, but if they keep turning a good profit in their niche that is success on their part. I would say that popularity is not the hallmark of a successful company since Apple clearly does not need to be mainstream to stay in business.

It has its ups and downs. Some things better than City of Heroes, some things worse. Overall though I wouldn't get Champions myself unless I could get the client for $15.

Turns out you could sign up in advance and download the client early - the step I couldn't think of before because, well, why would there need to be an extra step for people who already have a Cryptic account?

Loving the Live crap bundled with Batman. I guess this is why I don't buy today's triple-A stuff. The cheaper stuff just installs and runs. And if I have to enter this key one more time... nevermind that I'm using a key on Steam.

I have waited weeks for Batman to be on sale and finally it will be MINE!... after an 8GB download. But hey, I waited for this long to get it cheap and I can wait another day to play it!

Keep hoping. They all wear blinders made from stacks of $100 bills, and all they can see is the money WoW makes.

It almost seems like they had it at free until they saw a large number of people taking the offer so they added a price to try to make a buck.

The mews news has to call it a secret scene to incite a greater closed-minded uproar. "Not only did Bioware include such depravity, they tried to hide their inclusion of such a shameful, sinful and unnatural act!" This article seems to be neutral toward it aside from the headline but I don't anticipate that kind of journalism about it here in the United States. Just wait until Fox gets a hold of it! I'm also reminded of the "lesbian" sex scene from Mass Effect and I'd bet anything the uproar about this male gay scene will make Mass Effect's closed-minded uproar look nonexistent.

Mews? I need to go back to bed.

I'll take your word for it. I don't follow up on L4D2 much so I'm sure I missed what you said. Not the best idea to release boring maps for a demo though. I thought the purpose was to get my interest, not drive it away.
