I do admire Bethesda for supplying a system that caters to the mod community, but by also creating one that is extremely easy to utilize. If memory serves, the mod system is a 'parsing' system (for lack of a better term), where the almost every single variable in the game can be manipulated.

Had a lot of fun with both Oblivion and Fallout 3, so I'm looking forward to Skyrim. Now if they'd just do a goddamn zombie apocalypse sandbox game where your only goal is to scrounge up enough supplies to survive another day/night. Bring that game out and you can stick a fork in me 'cause I'd be done...

I have to agree. I download dozens if not hundreds of mods, and I tweak many of them to my own tastes or even add whole new items or abilities to them as I play. I can't think of another game so simple to modify.

Also, a zombie apocalypse sandbox game would be the shit. More so with multiplayer.

I've had no trouble finding teams at all hours of the day or night lately, even with the overwhelming majority of people hiding away in AE. I'll admit I'm not much of an end-gamer though. I play a lot of alts and rarely use my 50s so I don't know how populated it is up there.

I doubt it. In 4 years of playing City of Heroes I've never seen the servers under medium-high load at 2pm on a weekday, until recently.

In fact, at 11:30 in the morning there are two medium-high load servers. A year ago you'd never hear of that.

Am I the only one who sees this as inherently discriminatory? If you stop hiring men simply because you want to hire more women, doesn't that defeat the whole point of equal opportunity? Affirmative action is a joke. People should be hired based on their qualifications, regardless of sex or race. If an applicant who is white and male happens to be more qualified for the job than an applicant who is black and female, the white male should obviously get the job. If you're hiring based on sex or race, that's discrimination, even if it's in favor of the minority.

Tell me about it. I tried to join the city's police a few years ago, back when they were still hiring. When I test 11th out of over 2000 applicants, I should get the damn job if the academy class is 30 people. But no, I'm all but certain they only had 5 slots or something for white men and they got filled before they got to me because I got put on the waiting list. Then the city hemorrhaged money and hasn't hired a single cop since. Yes, I'm bitter about race and gender quotas and when they prevent better qualified individuals from getting hired, everyone should be bitter about them.

Bet it'll be out six months after the 360's release, and they'll add a little extra stuff to try to get 360 users to basically buy the same game twice. Basically like the original Fable.

As far as I know, repurchasing items means you have to phone up the black market chopper and buy the items with in-game money every time you load your game. So say your fancy rocket parachute costs $25000 (I forget what it actually costs), that means if you load your game and buy it, you should plan to cause at least $25000 in damage before you quit if you wanna break even for the next time you play. When you quit, you go back to the regular chute.

If Steam is "killing" its competition, maybe the competition should look at what Steam is doing and they are not.

It's probably true. I saw a copy of Earth and Beyond at Micro Center the other day. Hell, they even have like 16 feet of shelf space devoted to old games. I mean DOS old. I don't think Micro Center is willing to throw anything away.

If you can't play a game at midnight on its release day, tough shit. In one day, who is going to care? Not even you - you will be playing the game. Steam has loads of benefits for use whether you like it or not. If the biggest drawback you face right now is not being able to play a new game at midnight, go back to fucking bed and get ready for work in the morning. Or play something else for a while. Both things the rest of us will just do instead of going into a Steam-bashing rant about how "unfairly" we are treated. Would you like it better if it was midnight by your home timezone? "WHY CAN'T I PLAY MY DUDE IN BRITAIN IS PLAYING RIGHT NOW STEAM SUCKS AGGGG" Oh and as for console players being able to use it right when they get it? Tell that to Kinect users who got theirs a few days early and got locked out of Live.

Yes, how dare we be robbed of the first couple hours of playing a new game when we could instead be sleeping for work the next morning. It's not like we'll ever get a chance to play it again if we miss that first midnight, since it turns to dust when sunlight gets on it.

I think an important distinction is that your large number of anxious friends probably have not actually played it yet. The general consensus of "meh" is among people who have played it from what I understand.

Yeah no shit. Shoplift a CD and you get a little fine and a slap on the wrist. Steal that CD with the magical and mystical internet and you burn in hell for the rest of your life. So much for that protection against cruel and unusual punishment. It's totally reasonable to hit a woman with a fine higher than she could earn in two lifetimes, right? We loathe killing murderers but we're happy to ruin the life of someone who steals a little copyrighted material? How does that make sense?
