| Blue, you should simply be stocking up on Kosher for Passover Coke every year. It's made with sugar. Easier to find than Mexican Coke, especially in New York. |

| So much for renaming it GFW, and how that was going to keep the mag viable. Thanks Microsoft - glad you're putting a lot of effort into this whole PC gaming thing. It's clearly working. |

| They're trying to appeal to a more casual crowd; people that haven't necessarily played Quake III. We'll just have to see what it offers to determine if there's anything here to attract people that already own Q3. |

This is just bizarre. He'd trust a regular newspaper with a supposed done date? Why would he be stupid enough to tell them anything? Either tell everyone or no one, but telling regular press but not the gaming community is just a slap in the face to anyone who still wants to try this game.

Keeing up with the messageboards:
-there is a possibility of MP in a future expansion, but not this one -they did build the game with MP hooks in place, in case they decide to add it -they do not allow the game to be resold because like Steam games, if registered, it becomes permanently attached to the user's id |

Yeah, I updated it via the manual patch, but Stardock Central still wanted to update the multimedia stuff afterwards. Go figure.

The files indicate for Voodoo2, but the screenshots say Voodoo5. Which is it?

My second PC is an Athlon 1.4 ghz with a GF3 Ti200 (soon to be GF4 Ti4200 hand-me-down from my main rig, which just got a 6800GT). It runs Win98, and I've never felt the need to upgrade, because, well, it runs just fine. It also has Linux on it, so there's no rush to upgrade just to play Doom 3.
Of course HL2 probably won't run on Win98, and that won't run under Linux, so maybe I should just bite the bullet and upgrade the Windows soon. Decisions...

In an even more troubling sign for id's future, Carmack has begun to give indications that he's getting bored. Married since 2000, he's expecting his first child in August.

For the millionth time, Vrenna/Tweaker did the theme song.
(Los Angeles, California, July 20th, 2004) – id Software™, one of the world’s leading video game developers, today announced that noted producer-composers Chris Vrenna and Clint Walsh have produced the theme song to the highly anticipated DOOM 3™, set for release August 3rd, 2004.
A terrifying battle with the forces of Hell, DOOM 3’s dramatic storyline, incredible action, mind-blowing graphics, 5.1 surround sound and ground-breaking technology are fused together to draw gamers into the most frightening, shocking, and gripping first-person gaming experience ever created.
Renowned as one of the founding members of Nine Inch Nails, Chris Vrenna is recognized as one of the top producer-remixers in the music business, having worked with a ‘who’s who’ of artists such as U2 for Lara Croft : Tomb Raider, P.O.D. for The Scorpion King as well as Weezer, David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins and Rob Zombie amongst many others. Vrenna recently released his second Tweaker album (created with collaborator Clint Walsh) titled 2 a.m. wakeup call on the Waxploitation label.
“I have been a fan of almost every game id has developed”, said Vrenna. “I grew up on DOOM, QUAKE and Wolfenstein, so this was a huge honor for me to have been asked. Clint and I have created something worthy of the task, that both game and music fans will be into.”
Vrenna has produced and composed music for a number of video games including American McGee’s Alice, id Software’s QUAKE (as a member of NIN), The Sims II, Enter The Matrix, as well as upcoming games such as Tabula Rasa and Area 51.
”We asked Chris to create a modern DOOM 3 theme song that reflected the character and intensity of DOOM3, and we couldn’t be happier with the final product,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. “Chris and id have shared a mutual appreciation for each others work, and it was exciting to be able to team up on something that fans of both id and Vrenna will appreciate.”

Although Tool was rumored to be doing the theme song, Chris Vrenna, former drummer of nin, did it. He used to have it up for listen at myspace.com, but it doesn't appear to be there anymore.

People's criticisms of Sin were correct. It was full of bugs and levels took forever to load when first released. But they ironed out most of that. But HL really did the game in.
But one thing the game had: an incredible demo. The helicoper bit and the bank level were totally awesome. If the rest of the game was that good, they would've had something.
Ion Storm needed to look at the demo to see what they should've done for Deux Ex - IW. I know a few people that were going to buy the game but now won't because the demo was a disappointment. That Sin demo made me go, "Yeah, I WANT this game!"
