I'm starting to feel as if this expansion isn't quite as good as it could have been. I loved the original and the first add-on though it took some getting use to. I mostly play skirmish mode and some multi-player. Hardly played the campaigns but what I did play was a hell of a lot longer than Tiger Ace.

This expansion adds about ten or twelve new vehicles to skirmish mode but those are scattered through out the four armies. I also played through the Tiger Aces campaign so fast I couldn't believe it was over so quickly. There are two more but I'd bet they're just as brief.

I haven't played any of the new multi-player modes yet nor have I figured out how many new maps where added though it doesn't appear to be very many. Oh, well. I guess it's par for the course lately. Always being let down by what's being released on PC lately.

Has anyone else bought it and felt the same?

Funny that you posted about this today. I just got a pop up and deverted from Blues to SpywareRemover.Com but when I tried to exist the shit it was clearly spyware or worse. I got a link sent to my e-mail about this thread but when I got there the thread had no new posts. I had already seen them yesterday or the day before.

http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=97207

As soon as I read the last post and realized it was not a new post the warning popped up advising me I had spyware and changed from the Blue's thread to a bogus SpywareRemover.Com site.

I'm beta testing Vista 2.0 ..... I mean Windows 7 Ultimate. Has anyone else had this?

It's just an opinion Fion. No evidence needed. Like most of what gets posted on the Internet it's just somebodies opinion...

Edit: As far as the hold up for the consoles... I'd bet it's the PS3 that is late to the party so EA wants to put the brakes on the PC version. No matter it's done either way...

"The whole game is a love letter to PC gamers and Baldur's Gate, but you take it as a sign Bioware doesn't care about PC gamers? I seriously wonder how you got to that conclusion."

A love letter? More like a Dear John letter. This game was a PC exclusive... that became a 360 to release later... to the current it's done but you can't have it because we want a simultaneous release. You may be ok with it but I'm not.

We the PC gamers are the ones who bought all their early titles, we were loyal fans, we even bought some of their crap console ports for the PC, and this is how they repay us... when they finally get around to making another game designed specifically for the PC? A game that is supposed to be a return to their roots... which is now tarnished with this bullshit EA decision to screw over the PC gamers because if they release it on PC now it will somehow negatively effect the consoles?

Clearly I am not the only PC Gamer that feels this way. I may change my mind by the time they are finally ready to bless us with the PC release but I doubt it. Negative PR has caused more than a few well made games to flounder. Not to mention judging from their last few releases I feel they've lost touch with what made their (PC) games great. Yeah, I know selling a shit load of games at Walmart is what they are really shooting for now. So good luck to them.

So DLC has become the replacement to their one or two expansion pack average that they've been doing for the past decade? Makes sense since the consoles have become their main focus... it almost goes without saying.

I'm hoping there will be other games to keep me busy until the first Exp/DLC goes retail. I've already decided to hold off purchasing DAO as long as I can... since they don't really give two shits about their old PC fan-base any longer.

Edit: Am I bitter? Yeah, you could say that. Remember when the Doctors made that media release about the company not changing? That even though EA owned their souls they would still continue to work like an independent company.

I'm not into super-hero games. But this looks good. I love the stealth game-play video and all the options available in taking out foes.

I love CoH (both the original and Opposing Fronts) it's easily the best RTS in my opinion. I was hoping they would add more armies from other countries... but this should still be good. Not sure how it will mesh with the older units though. I haven't followed it that closely.

Another good thing is that this should be out just before or just after we go on strike... so I'll have lots of time to enjoy it.

Yeah, but Gothics game worlds blow away anything Morrowind or Oblivion had going for them. Even before this added goodness the community created to make it G3 Enhanced Edition. Yeah there were a few bugs and the combat was spam attacks but for me it has always been more fun than those others...

Thanks (again) for all the info, Sho. I'm back into it and having a blast again.

9. Re: Gothic 3 Community Patch Mar 22, 2009, 21:15 Paranoid Jack

Some bad news... it won't run on Windows 7 (64 Bit). Not sure about Vista 64. I've tried the usual Compatibility option running as XP SP2 and Vista SP1 but the engine (Genome Gaming System) is crashing during the booting of the game.

I'm searching for a work around now. Has anyone else figured out how to get the game to install and run properly on Vista or Win7 (aka Vista v2.0)?

Edit: More kudos to the fans who made these patches and add-ons. After installing just run the official patch v1.12 then the unofficial v1.6 and finally v1.7 (not sure if 1.7 has the contents of 1.6). Anyway after running the first community patch the game runs fine on Win7 so I imagine it will run fine on Vista also. They removed whatever bug it was causing the games engine to crash on boot up.

Very good to hear. Thanks for all the info. I'm going to reload it soon. Hope they'll do an English version of the community add-on.

Can't wait for Piranha Bytes next game.

I know I'm lazy. Well at least when it comes to researching what this patch and the previous ones do...

Anyway, do they address the combat issues in G3?

I'm enjoying it... in spurts though... while I play several other games off and on. I agree with most of what he states but think he is overly harsh at times. But then I'm only a third of the way into it... if that. My main complaint is the camera in tight spots if you're using AWSD and hit a glitch it spins you around and you end up going in the opposite direction.

Also it seems his familiarity with the setting and their rules clearly gives him a huge advantage. I find the combat challenging quite a bit. There are areas which I have had to turn back and level a bit before returning. Not to mention I rarely use potions while playing.

Not a bad game for $29.

I agree some of the animations look a bit stiff but over-all it looks promising. Let's hope it's highly entertaining.

This looks really good. I'm looking forward to it but I'm still disappointed they lost the Aliens RPG...

Oh, I used the link above and it started part way into the video. Start from the begining to get all the info and see the trailer.

Not sure why but the link jumped me to the Chris Avelone (sp?) part of the interview.

Well, here's hoping this year. Here's hoping it's a big hit for above average game-play... not just hype and the shiny graphics. I haven't really cared for their brand of game-play since Q2. I loved both Q1 and Q2. Damn, those were the golden days?

I too am playing more bargain bin, older, passed over games than anything fresh to hit the shelves. And nothing on the horizon has me excited.

I'm still pissed that I won't be able to play Dragon Age: Origins until they release the console versions.

If you thought (or think) that WAR's graphics are bad... it's either a matter of your bad taste or your old video card, sorry. Yes, some MMOs are better looking than others but again it's a matter of taste not poor graphics in my opinion. Kind of like having a WoW player stating that AoC or WAR look bad... but you're saying you still play AO and WARs graphics put you off? That's down right baffling.

Anyway has anyone seen or played the Choppa or Slayer yet?

Damn, does this mean they have yet to fix the PvP consequences? I've been waiting to hear it's fixed... but I've seen more negative than positive since leaving the game two or three months after retail.

So does the game finally have a deterrent to stop the asshole griefers (twenty and thirty levels above me) from repeatedly spawn camping low level players?

And don't give me that QQ shit.

The exact reason why my friend stopped paying for two games and then quit.

My brother was using it but I think he has also quit. Of course he was two years behind on his games so most of the sports games he wanted to play were actually available.

I only used the service for a month or three over the past three years. And I always cancel it quickly after starting it up. Funny how you pay for a month yet when you cancel they tell you they need their games back within days... not by the end of your subscription.

Still it's far cheaper than buying all those short games. If you play a lot of them. I keep going back to the PC on the other hand.
