I think the 360 release slipped into early next year...

Really looking forward to this one and can't wait to find out how it has turned out. For $39 I feel you can't go wrong buying this. Plus it supports a great studio. Even with the slight worry that combat will be too similar to G3 I am still willing to risk it... since I had far more fun in G3 than ES4. And I know it may be a bit rough around the edges for some... but then I had less problems (by far) playing the Gothic games than the last three Bethesda games. I won't try to play F3 again until I build another system it's just not worth the frustration of the constant crashes to desktop in some areas.
Is this a worldwide release or has it already been released in Germany?

LoL, yeah I think they saw how well the adult gamers responded to the Witcher and decided to follow their lead. The worst part is almost every video has done nothing to excite me about the game. A few of the game-play videos did though. I just hope it's as good as the hype. Please, don't screw this one up...

/sarcasm in full gear...

Crackhead talking to a Prostitute, "Yo beeeaach, why should I pay fifee dollas up frunt an' den find out yo snatch is all loose? You should let me pop a cap in yo ass firs. Den if yo dat good I be willing to pay fo it da nex time."

Da Prostitute, "Oh, you're a sharp one ain't you... fool? Now take your raggedy ass back home and jack it. Before I call my pimp on over here"

/Real life calling you, pick up.... Baahaaa! Right, sure. And how long do you think WoW was out before they even did the open free trails? They sure the fuck didn't do them opening day. That would be retarded. Come on people...

edit: Maybe if you help to re-elect Obama by the end of his second term this will be a full blown Socialist country then all games... hell, all entertainment (like rationed Vodka) will be free to all. Sounds good, right?

My pre-order will be going to somebody else. I tried to get excited about it but in the end the boring combat seal it's fate with me.

The plaintiff said because of the alleged trademark infringement, consumers have become confused between the makers of the pre-existing Fallout games and Bethesda's more recent Fallout 3 -- a situation that Bethesda wanted to avoid.

Confused? Have they got Internet access? Fucking Google or Wiki it for Gods sake. Besides how could you get them confused they are freaking numbered and named differently. And F3 is nothing likes it's predecessors....

I got in about fifteen minutes after my last post. I create two of the same characters on the opposing faction. And was totally blown away to find the starting quests are the exact same thing for each side. So besides one side appearing darker... the characters are also the exact same.

Are there any regulars that can verify things aren't really this bad at any point/some point further up the line? So far I'm very glad I checked this one out before purchase.

I think that's one of the main reasons I don't feel any excitement while playing MMOs anymore... well, after the initial excitement of seeing a new game-world.

Aion is the same way...

An update to the blow by blow process of getting logged into Aion.

I've now been attempting log in for 45 minutes. On this last attempt it took roughly 45 seconds to get to the log in screen. I entered my info waited ten plus second to be greeted by the EULA. I clicked Accept without reading as usual and was shocked to see a server list appear.

I picked a server clicked again and was disconnected within ten seconds to once more be dropped to desktop by the lovely auto shut down of Aion.

Please, tell me it's just me. Has anyone successfully logged in?

edit: I made it onto a server created two characters tried to play one the screen locked up for about a minute before I was auto shut down... again. So, yeah, a normal to poor MMO launch can be expected.

Well it's now 9:12 and both the log in server is down and their website is unreachable. Hmmm....

edit: Even worse is the 30+ seconds of load time to get to the log in screen, the ten seconds after entering your info to fail, and followed by the brilliance of their program's auto shut down.

Was actually thinking about buying this to play for the free month... not so sure now.

edit 2: More humor ensues... the log in servers came up. Told me I didn't have authorization to log in because I haven't made my payment. Not in those exact words but that was the gist of it.

8. Dragon Age Origins on D2D Sep 4, 2009, 00:54 Paranoid Jack

Warden's Keep
Discover what happened to the Grey Wardens order at their darkest hour and unlock secrets hidden for generations. This new content will lead you on a harrowing adventure with all new achievements, unlockable character abilities, powerful items, and much more!

Is this something specific to D2D? I haven't heard of this bonus quest before. All CE purchases give you The Stone Prisoner quest from what I've seen. And a few variants on items so far.

edit: Just noticed the D2D version is $5 more also...

News Comments > Blizzard: New MMOG "Significantly Different" from WoW
3. Re: Blizzard: New MMOG Sep 1, 2009, 21:26 Paranoid Jack

What do they expect? People to pay for 2 at once? GTFO Blizzard. You made a great MMO no doubt. But there's no way people will pay for 2 at the same time. That's just lunacy.

I'm not so sure about that. I've paid for two subscriptions at once before though I'll admit it wasn't for more than a couple months. What it always comes down to in/with games is that you want to play the one you like the most. Nothing else matters. At least this is how it's been for me for the most part.

It's almost too funny that they are worried about pulling subscribers away from their current cash cow.

Lately I can't go back to anything (MMO) that I've already played and left behind for whatever reason. I've tried all the come-back to us specials and not one has made me stay more than the week or two that was free.

I wish they'd just release the damned info and stop the media whoring.

News Comments > Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Co-op Trailer
15. Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Co-op Trailer Aug 30, 2009, 22:13 Paranoid Jack

The one thing I really really hate about so-called "realistic" games is how they just make everything needlessly complicated and counter intuitive. If they could keep the realistic ballistics and damage models, but keep the communications and control schemes as simple as real life I'd be more keen on games like this.

That is my take. It's too bad they can't find the middle ground. I can play CoD but only so much before I grow tired. Earlier I was referring to the cone of fire spamming of a single target not squad tactics. Meaning... I hate having to put most of a clip (or an entire clip) into a guy before he goes down. I usually go for the upper body hit hoping to get the head shot (if possible) before the weapon starts jumping. More and more it seems the cone of fire is randomly deciding if my round hits. Even in games where you see a visual indication of a hit... like a blood spurt... it doesn't always equate to a hit on the target.

Maybe I'm just getting too old for this genre?

Do you mean suppressing fire? Yes, it does kill targets but the main reason is to pin them down while they are flaked. Beside I don't want total realism just less arcade game mechanics.

No Valtyr, you've hit the nail on the head. May have understated the problem just a bit... in my opinion. I prefer the more realistic game-play over console shooter mechanics any day. Not that the simplistic shooters can't be fun. To me a kill is so much more rewarding when it has taken skill to achieve it. Not just running around spraying automatic fire at a target and waiting for the cone of fire to land a killing hit.

I doubt we'll ever see another big budget shooter leaning more toward realism. The last that I liked being the older Clancy games. Though OPFP, ArmA, and early AA were close enough.

Again, I loved 1942, BFV, BF2 (until they ruined it), and even enjoyed a bit of the 1st/3rd Person console style games with blind shooting from cover... though I must say that was truly the final blow, the nail in the coffin of the realistic shooter.

R.I.P.

It does look pretty good. I almost bought ArmA2 but had too much else to play. Now I'm looking at the number of games hitting the shelves all within a few weeks of each other. On certain days there are as many as four big titles hitting across the 3 platforms. I'm thinking OF:DR is going to have to wait a few months before I pick it up.

That's good for me since I'll be able to read more user comments and reviews about it before I get it at a marked down price.

News Comments > Aion Open Beta Client Downloads
12. Re: Aion Open Beta Client Downloads Aug 29, 2009, 00:45 Paranoid Jack

I enjoyed the time I spent in closed beta but not sure it will matter come release since I don't feel like buying a $50 MMO a week or so before so many huge titles hit. I won't have enough time to play Aion and the games due out the week or two following it. Of course I may change my mind if I get bored.

I tried to go back to LotR (and AoC) recently but couldn't seem to pick up where I had left off. There just wasn't anything compelling me to play long enough to relearn their abilities and the play styles I had set up.

I've still got the open beta access and the early access to decide...
