China does make some of the most impressive rip offs of anything though.

LMAO... like their HiPhone? Or maybe their crappy version of the iPad?

I know they manufacture most of what we buy here in NA but I know it can't just be me that has noticed a steady decline in their product quality. I try to avoid Made in China now.... if possible, as hard as it is.

News Comments > BioWare on Dragon Age II Criticisms
30. Re: BioWare on Dragon Age II Criticisms May 27, 2011, 14:12 Paranoid Jack

Nothing new here. Its the same lip service that every corporate talking head gives after being told to go into damage control mode. Compare this to the recent Sony responses concerning their networks security or lack there of. They're very similar. Both are attempts at covering up mistakes made with poorly constructed lies... even if the people telling them seem to believe them or act as if they do.

I've lost what little respect I had left. And I will never buy another BioWare game on release day. I'll wait for the hype machine's dust to settled and do some research first.

I'll admit I have nobody to blame more than myself. I saw the videos. I played the demo. I even told myself this isn't bad for an action game with RPG elements. But how could I know the characters were stuck in one city? How could I know they would cover the same levels repeatedly on numerous quests?

I should have waited for the reviews... live and learn, again.

Amazing game. Very little issue so far and well worth any troubles in my opinion. One of the best cRPGs to date. Funny how I never thought of it before but Dragon Age borrows the idea of the Grey Wardens from Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher.... ironic since DA just doesn't compare in my opinion. I bought the GoG.Com digital version but I'm going to buy a hard copy too... CDProjekt is a studio we want to expand. And when you comparing the original Witcher with the Witcher 2.... I can't wait to see there next project. One of the best studios around no doubt. King of the Hill at this point.

I also hope they port it to consoles. A game this good deserves to be played.

edit: My favorite line so far and alternate outcome? "I need you no more. Let the feast begin, boys!"

Is there a console command to display FPS inside the game? My new system has a 580 GTX and I want to see what it's doing. Got everything turned up max as far as I can tell with little to no slow downs.

Also is FRAPS still the best for monitoring and capturing video? Or is there another freeware program out that works just as well?

I totally forgot the first one I ordered from the UK so as not to get the censored version. Is the NA version censored again? If so I'm going to have to order it from overseas again and just wait it out. I want their original vision not the one they were forced into by hypocrits.

I hope they are making a sequel or prequel to the Silent Storm games. But also taking it... them... to the next level. I loved the games but they had some issues like line of site and line of fire being a bit wacky at times.

We've all seen the fantastic looking twelve minutes of game-play video demo... and know it's running on a bleeding edge computer. What I want to see is some X-Box 360 and PS3 video footage. I want to know how this game will look on the five year old console hardware. I'm getting it on the PC... even building a new PC mainly to be ready for this and a few other releases late this year... but I may buy a second copy for the console that most of my friends will be playing on. Unless this will be cross platform multiplayer.... LoL

21. Re: The Witcher 2 Specs Mar 27, 2011, 23:52 Paranoid Jack

Bioware really needs to work on the non-combat portions of their RPGs. I'd love to see diplomacy and stealth be equally viable ways to play through them, for example. I'd also love to see NPCs who actually acknowledge your existence. In every Bioware RPG I've played, NPCs are completely oblivious to what's happening around them. In DA2, I routinely bring fights into areas with guards and civilians and they just stand there and watch. People don't seem to care when I break into their house and steal their stuff either. Bethesda may not have the best writers but they at least make NPCs that react to you.

Quite right. I wish Bioware, Bethesda, CD Projekt & Piranha Bytes would all merge... then we'd get some top notch RPGs. But then there wouldn't be much competition.

I rarely finish a long game due to my AADD. But I finished the Witcher with no trouble. The game kept things interesting the entire way through.

Uh, look around! There is very little innovation being done. Besides the CoH games are what I like when it comes to RTS... for me there hasn't been anything else that comes close to the CoH games.

So, yeah! Give me more of the same with new maps and countries. I'm all for it.

I'd buy another two or three CoH games if they just made more maps, add the Japanese, Russians, and/or the Italians.

Hell, I might even buy another expansion if you just added the Canadians.

Only money I've spent in WorstBuy in the past three to five years has been gift cards I've received and even then I hated doing it. Annoying as hell to have somebody ask you every three to five minutes if they can help you. They just won't leave you the fuck alone so you can browse.

When they first opened up I loved going there to browse and bought stuff there on a regular basis. Another example of how retards running a company run it into the ground...

17. Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic Trailer Mar 12, 2011, 22:43 Paranoid Jack

This and GW2 are the only two MMOs I'm even remotely interested in lately. RIFT felt too much like been there and done that so I canceled my pre-order. I'll try it out this summer most likely depending on other games of course.

I'm also hoping to get a beta invite sooner or later but I'm not holding out much hope in that happening. Most likely going to pick it up at launch but that depends on several factors. I already have two huge games that will require hundreds of hours of my time lined up for the holiday season... D3 and Skyrim... of course everything depends on release dates.

News Comments > SecuROM in Dragon Age II?
40. Re: SecuROM in Dragon Age II? Mar 11, 2011, 21:51 Paranoid Jack

Too funny.... I am about thirty hours into the game at this point. SecuROM has not taken over my PC (as far as I know). Nor have I been banned in anyway... yet.

I needed to take a break and get ready for an appointment I have so I thought I'd check out the site... I was so not surprised to see the two threads exploding with negativity and rabid posting.

Either way... what ever floats your boat, I guess. I know I've been mad as Hell in the past when a game wasn't released the way I had hoped for. So I can sympathize a bit. That's also why I don't follow them so closely anymore. Less chance of getting let down.

But seriously some of you need to check yourselves to see if you're foaming at the mouth.

"Most of the user reviews I read on there were generally written by what seems like retarded babies."

Well said. I'm so very glad I didn't let all the negativity put me off from buying it. I too had my doubts after playing the demos across all three systems. But after doing that I played the PC demo again and figured it was the best version for my taste. The faster paced flashy combat was a bit much at first but then I found myself liking the faster paced battles. It works for me... and that is all that matters.

I just hope Bethesda steps it up a bit... taking the story for Skyrim a notch or two above the last few games.

News Comments > Dragon Age II and High-Rez Patch Released
100. Re: Dragon Age 2 and High-Rez Patch Released Mar 9, 2011, 19:01 Paranoid Jack

I've seen a couple arrows and spells home in on the target but that's been in a lot of games lately. Even an added bonus to spells created in Two Worlds 2. It doesn't bother me. Though the hoops I had to jump through to get registered and get my extra items was a bit frustrating. Since then I've been totally immersed in the game. I like it much better than DA Origins. And I had almost seventy hours into that one though I never completed it. Always getting side tracked by new games coming out.

This game feels more like the old BG games to me though it may just be the new graphics and game world pulling me in. I like the crazy out of place stuff you find. The lore items your always coming across. And even the combat feels better to me. It's faster but still real-time with pause. So far it's been awesome...

93. Re: Dragon Age 2 and High-Rez Patch Released Mar 9, 2011, 14:56 Paranoid Jack

WoW, what a difference the High Res Texture Pack makes. I was playing it on high settings with 4X AA and 2X whatever and it was chugging at times. With this texture pack the game looks better and runs far better. Go figure.... I have a three year old card, GTX 260.

Enjoying the game so far. Glad I bought it after all. And just to let you know the crash to desktop was due to old drivers. I'm using the 266- whatever now. The demo advised me that my drivers were old but the full version just crashes if you didn't update your drivers recently. LoL

News Comments > Dragon Age II and High-Rez Patch Released
81. Re: Dragon Age 2 and High-Rez Patch Released Mar 8, 2011, 21:24 Paranoid Jack

OMG! WTF!

The demo(s) played fine even though it was clear the PC version got the short end of the stick. In other words not as much attention as the console version. It was noticeably better looking on the PS3 over the X-Box 360. And the PC version felt kind of lacking. Well against my better judgement I kept my pre-order for the PC... even had my daughter pick it up since I'm home with the flu.

I installed the game and jumped through all the hoops (repeatedly) to register my copy on the EA and Bioware sites so that I could get my Signature Edition goodies.

For some reason the password and e-mail address I've been using for two years... since EA started requiring all these log-ins for games... well, it didn't work. So after twenty minutes I finally got my old info to take and thought I had registered the game. I had with one site...

Then I tried to redeem my code for the extra items and DLC at the Bioware site. Shit, that didn't work either. Every time I logged in and tried to register my PC version of DA2 (yeah, I thought I just registered the damn thing) it looped me back to the log-in screen. I was getting pissed off after almost an hour of this shit before they fixed their broke dick site.

Cool, I've jumped all their hurdles and jump them again.... and again. The game is installed. It's telling me to refresh my wallet to get the Signature Edition goodies. So I load up the game and the config program scans my system. I set my graphics to my preference. Close and save. Double click the II icon....

.... and it crashes on boot up. SWEET!

That is a good thing... since TF2 doesn't have a single player component.

Let me know what you guys think of RIFT. I got the whole been there done that feeling. Plus the starter area enemies were so scripted it felt really lame. Add the fact that the supposed random RIFTs kept spawning in the same small area just sank my hope that the game would be something special.

I plan on trying another starter area/race/side during the open beta but I'm not expecting any surprises. Basically everything I saw had been done before and in most cases better...
