I like what I see. I will be getting this one just not ready to pull the trigger on a day one purchase yet. From what I have seen the game looks like a blast. Just not sure how they are handling death yet. I assume it will be the usual respawn you at the last check point.

The problem is Dark Souls 2 (currently) on top of several recent KickStarter releases and betas. I've still got to play through The Last of Us again... Remastered this time. Then I would like to finish Watch Dogs but I doubt I will. You have Destiny in less that two weeks which I think I am going to pass on for now. The Shadows of Mordor the end of September. Less than a month later you have the game in question followed by Dragon Age Inquisition & FarCry 4 just three short weeks later.

Going to be a good Fall.

$150 for something people didn't want when it only added $100 to the bundle price. Maybe we'll get more $200 hard drive upgrades next.

We can only hope... but since most of us don't own the XBOne we're just SOL!

I wonder if Comcast will pull the same crap with Steam that it does with Netflix.

I have U-Verse but kept hearing how green the grass was over there so I signed up with Comcast for a trial... after two weeks I gave up. They would block my access to Steam completely unless I used a proxy server. I tried several other distribution services like Origin and GoG... same thing was being done. Blocking the connection completely.

Their tech support tried to tell me some shite about my router was the problem because I wasn't renting theirs, my computer was infected, or possibly the site was illegal. I laughed at him. So I just unplugged from the cable modem went back to the DSL and canceled my trial. I can now get a faster speed with U-Verse at a lower price than Comcast was offering. Though they have recently raised the bar in some areas providing up to 100mbps. Still if you can't connect to the services you would use that speed with the most why have it?

10. Re: Pillars of Eternity Backer Beta Begins Aug 18, 2014, 23:34 Paranoid Jack

Just started testing. I just hope I can stop a few hours in. Like the Divinity Original Sin Alpha & Beta I only wanted to sample the game. I think I played about twenty hours total single and co-op of DOS. But I've been beta testing since the original Ultima Online. Sometimes its a great thing. Helping to better the game. And if its a game that is really good you won't mind playing it over and over again its even better. Thank the Gods we don't have to wait for a disc in the mail any longer.

I just downloaded and started to create a character and I must say I am sporting wood. Without spoiling anything the character options and overall feel of the game is just extremely reassuring. How awesome it would have been if they would have created all new races. So happy I backed them early... bought the boxed CE... even bought the first expansion as an add-on. I must say it feels very good knowing I had a very small part in bringing this game to the unwashed masses.

You're welcome... and you know who you are.

I'm loving Risen 3 so much! The graphics and animations look really good, combat is great once you get good in it (awesome to parry at the exact right moment after a streak of attacks so that your character ripostes with another hit), allot of places to explore and chests to lockpick, etc etc.

Risen 1 was great, Risen 2 was a shame, Risen 3 is great once again. I hear allot of people are complaining about combat being too hard. Some don't seem to understand that you don't need to keep holding the mousebutton in order to execute heavy strikes -- once your hand starts glowing and your animation turns into slowmotion, it's actually the que to to let the mousebutton go! Also, dodge or parry after an enemy dodges your attack because they're on you before your next swing lands.

Agreed. I am completely baffled as to how people are having problems with the combat. I'm an arthritic 38yr old who never plays action games and even I had to put it on hard to get a challenge from it.

The very slow rhythm to the swings, the wide riposte window of opportunity, the soft-lock focus attacking, it just really works really well. I HATED combat in Risen 2 and well, most PB games, really...but in here it works so beautifully.

I just ranked up in my chosen faction (Demon hunters) and I'd say this is my second favorite PB game, after Gothic 2 NOTR.

So glad to hear that people are enjoying it. I wanted to pre-order but felt burned last time around. So I decided with a little help from the DarkSouls2 monkey that is jumping up and down loudly on my back to hold off for a few months. For the most part I've been happy with the coverage I've watched on YouTube except for Angry Joe playing the game with Other Joe on Twitch. The gameplay looked fine it's just they both sucked at it and it seemed to me Angry Joe had already shit canned the game by the time I started watching the live stream. I almost created an account so I could log in and tell them to stop jerking each other off and play the damn game. I do realize he is also trying to be entertaining for his fans... still there was no way you could possibly enjoy playing a game the way they were carrying on. I usually feel he covers a game fairly but I lost some respect for him that night, no doubt.

I won't buy another game from them on release for a long while if ever... after getting burned by the CoH2 Steam Digital Deluxe (or whatever) version. The info was vague and basically it amounted to paying an extra $40 for some texture packs and two extra commanders.

I'll pick this up in another year for dirty cheap or maybe not at all. Sad how it went from (CoH) being my favorite RTS of all time to (CoH2) most hated game release of all time.

I built a safe roost high up under our rear patio for a morning dove couple that kept insisting on building a next on top of a ladder I'd left leaning against the house. They've now had three broods of two. Crazy how fast they reproduce.

Once the eggs are fertilized and laid twelve to fifteen days later they hatch and within twelve to fifteen days the parents will leave the nest. Usually their hunger young figureout they need to leave the nest or die of hunger within a day or two.

I'd love to pick this up but with 60 hours played I'm not even close to done with the main game. I'm currently in lower Brightstone Cove sitting at 50% health. What can I say, this game is punishing lol and kb/mouse doesn't make it any easier.

You know how to get your humanity back without using an effigy, right? Just help others via your large soapstone or a covenant plus ring. Easy way to keep your health at max and bring in more invaders.

Release Day +1 still no PS3 Season Pass showing up anywhere, WTF? I hate it when they do this shit. Looks like Steam got some type of exclusive since they have it day one. Well, looks like a no buy for me. It's only $5 difference but I don't appreciate these types of BS tactics. So I'll get it later or if I get distracted by yet another game when it's on sale cheap.

Maybe it is a GameStop in store purchase for the PSN download?

Thank you all for the help. I am definitely going to play some DarkSouls on the PC as soon as I get a bit of time. I remembered on Saturday that I had Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen on my PS3 from my Plus account... not sure when it was on there. Think it is gone now, they seem to have taken it down. Anyway, I got hooked on it and I'm have blast play it at the moment.

Seeing the news of this release has got my DarlSouls monkey jumping all over my back.

I picked that one off ebay last week... Hasn't arrived yet, but I've heard good things : )

Most would say a good game and most would also agree it could have been an epic game. Some strange design choices were made. Overall I like it. Be sure to watch some beginer tips unless you just want to figure it all out on your own? This is not a hand-holder type aRPG. More of a jRPG disguised as an aRPG.

The hired pawns not leveling with you was kind of weird but easily worked around. Besides the tough combat the game has tons of exploration. And some of the best magic/spells in any game. Check out this video, kind of long, but worth it if your thinking a Mage/Sorcerer build.

On the original topic here is a first impressions video that makes me want the DLC now! Bad news is PSN has no Season Pass ATM, WTF? Some slight spoils so be wary if you are worried about seeing anything on YouTube before seeing it first in game.

Looking forward to this. I have some where between two hundred and two hundred fifty hours logged on my PS3 playing mostly the PVE stuff. I'm guessing about a quarter of that time was spent invading or defending covenants. I never invade otherwise but may give it a try soon.

Bought the Steam version of DS2 but the graphics look like shit. Is there a Steam Workshop mod to address that. I know some modder created some fabulous thing but when ever I do a search it takes me to questionable sites with ten download links. The one time I did download it it wasn't labeled the same and was a very small application. So I deleted it.

Any help locating a graphics mod for DarkSouls2 PC version would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

But haven't we been digitally raped by EA/Bioware before?

Yeah, you could say that. For me the start of it was with EA Downloader being changed to Origin. Then an Origin tech support guy deleted my Battlefield 3 account wiping my level/rank 40ish game. After that I filed numerous tickets and it took them over two months to try to make good on his mistake. They gave me a few free Origin games by the way. Those are just the things I remember. I'm sure there are more reasons not to buy it. Like the mess DA2 was, the poor original release state of BF4... well, it hasn't been good for years. I've been pissed at them a lot and I doubt I will buy the game at release.

That being said I need to stop watching these trailers... the more I see the more I want the game.

preeeeeetty game. i don't care how much haterade you guys pour on this, i'm going to play the hell out of it. i loved DAO and DA2 was still a good, enjoyable experience. a lot of you are too exacting in your expectations - it wasn't the bleeding edge masterpiece we'd hoped for, but failing to live up to that, anything can still be a good game. people just need to keep in the mind the full spectrum of possibilities it could've been, not just that 'it's not a masterpiece; therefore, sucks'.

I don't buy that; you wouldn't use that logic with any other purchases. This blender kinda blends well... it's got the potential, even if there are still massive chunks in my smoothie! This chicken was undercooked but it has the potential to be a really good meal! Shit just doesnt fly. Its idiotic.

EA restricted development to cash in on the good will\name that DA:O generated - that's it plain and simple. They just wanted higher profits for less development time and it was quite evident in the final product.

I think the logic applies but you took it the way of apples and oranges. I think of it like this... and you've heard this saying yourself I'm sure which I tend to agree with, "There is no such thing as bad sex or bad pizza". It works as long as you don't take it to extremes.

As derivative as this game looks to be I am still interested, it looks like they really embraced the setting.

I'm interested too... but going up against DA:I on release day is crazy. This one is surely the underdog. Plan on playing both just not sure if either will be on release day at this point.

Who the Hell is worried about putting small Internet Providers out of business now? Shouldn't they have worried about that ten or more years ago? As far as I know they all went out with a whimper years ago. The only small providers around here serve markets the big two wouldn't bother with. In fact the prices have gone up not down here. So small providers will have to provide more for less expense or the same speeds at lower costs. And as soon as the big two see a loss of subscribers they'll start aggressive promos again. Locking subs in at low rates for one, two, or three years driving the smalls guys underground again. Ah, capitalism.... ain't it grand?

Right.
