News Comments > THQ Gets Juice
2. Re: Blech Mar 4, 2006, 09:34 Bludd

Indeed; the controls totally ruined it. Many games have proved that driving cars well via the keyboard is possible, but Juiced failed miserably in that respect. And, honestly, if the controls in a driving game are not up to at least SOME level of usability, the game is ruine.

News Comments > Battlefield 2 Patch Plans, Euro Force Delayed
36. Meh Feb 21, 2006, 05:53 Bludd

I noticed the level markers spread around, but I didn't really mind them much.

The worst thing with 1.2 is the rockets going through stuff and the sometimes silly missile pathing, but I really like the more potent AA and the less potent air vehicles and I don't really have any problems with claymores being untouchable save giving them some kamikaze-love.

Just bring on the hotfix and the booster pack and I'm gonna ravage the landscape in my Leo2.

I just upgraded and my menu says: 1.1.2696-528.0. Hmm! The game still seems to work online.

Same here, that seems to be the proper internal version number for update 1.2

28. Re: C: drive free space? Feb 14, 2006, 16:38 Bludd

From the patch readme:
If you have Battlefield 2 installed to a different hard disk than where you have
Windows installed then approximately 375Mb (full patch) or 100Mb (incremental patch)
of the required free space must be available on the hard disk where Windows is
installed.

To install Battlefield 2: Euro Force you will need approximately 800Mb free hard
disk space plus space for saved games.

What about when the commander drops one on your head thus killing you when you're trying to be a sneaky sniper in a bush.

How do you know which UAV is yours and whcih is from enemy if both sides are scanning the same area?

It says UAV in red near the model, it's just like looking at an enemy soldier.

And before any of you ask, it doesn't work if you do a "spotted" on it.

Anyone know if they fixed the artillery repair via supply drop ability issue? How the hell does a supply carton automatically repair a UAV trailer or artillery???

I thought this was intended behaviour and not an "issue." Granted, it's not realistic, but you "waste" a supply drop on it, so it can be argued that it's balanced like that.

Do you have to be an air unit or in a vehicle to shoot it down?

I shot it down with my rifle while standing on the ground. Okay, I crouched because it seemed the right thing to do.

18. UAV goin' down Feb 14, 2006, 15:50 Bludd

Can you confirm or deny whether it's possible to shoot UAV's down now?

Yes, did it twice during my 1h session after installing the patch. I kinda like it. There's no points for destroying it, though, but I have no problems with that.

Just a FYI, the commander will not lose the ability to launch more UAVs if you shoot down an UAV. He'll just have to wait until the UAV recharges.

And what's all this about being able to see the UAV now? Use your words, people! Does this mean there are little unmanned planes flying all over the place now? Or is there something else going on?

There's one radio controlled plane looking thing (the UAV :D) circling over the area where the UAV has been deployed.

Aha, well. It must use the default temp directories then.

They are using installshield so my gut feeling is that they obey the temp enviromental variables, but I do not know because I haven't tested it.

The patches extract to the C drive before running against the installation. At least that is what I heard. I do not own the game but had other patches and software that have the C drive hard coded for installation/extraction which annoys me. I have a 1GB hard drive on C just for Windows, that way I can reinstall more easily

The Special Forces installer detected my install in E:\Games\BF2 successfully. Same did the 1.12 patch.

I haven't used the earlier patches, so I can't comment on their install procedures, though.

[hopes they fixed the drive C requirement] heh

And what requirement is that? I have BF2 + exp1 and latest patch and my game is installed on my E:\ partition.

I have noticed no problems with this config.
