One thing I don't understand: it's supposed to be accessed through a web browser. Does this mean it's based on Flash/Shockwave or Silverlight or whatever or is it a downloadable native executable?

I think there was a Steam survey that said only 1% of users are running SLI. So most gamers could care less if nvidia stops making mobo chipsets.

You can get mobos with Intel chipsets (X58) that are both certified for SLI and Crossfire.

According to the release notes, these drivers fix the out of video memory errors in GTA4. Only problem for me is that they make the game stutter.

Regarding the story: Far Cry 2 is a moralistic cop-out game. Oooh, war is bad, ooh, you have to kill yourself because you are a cancer on the world, ooh, let's make a documentary instead.

And don't get me started about the deus ex machina that is the malaria disease they throw at you. HEHE WE ARE TRANSPARENTLY FORCING THE PLAYER TO DO STUPID MISSIONS FOR A PRIEST AND HEHEHE IF HE DON'T DO THEM, HE'LL FALL DOWN AND PASS OUT AND IT'LL ANNOY HIM SO HE'LL DO THE MISSIONS I AM A SMART POUTINE-SUCKING FRENCHIE SURRENDER MONKEY ... I hate FC2. I loved FC1.

Because that wasn't a postmortem. It was a "let's discuss boring game design theory"-em.

Also, when he said that stuff about the factions and how he pushed for the in-game map dealie, I barked a laugh. One: the factions are the same, no matter what you do, you have to kill the leaders. Two: the MAGIC auto-updating PAPER map is the dumbest thing ever. If you are going to have a MAGIC paper map, you could just as well have a HUD map. OOH BUT IT IS SO AUTHENTIC. No, there are no magic paper maps that updates itself dynamically. There just aren't.

EVE is a job. It's not fun and it's too slow.

If the World of Darkness MMO they are working on is as slow and boring as EVE, I will be very angry.

Ad-Aware used to be must-have software, now it's much better to just install Spybot and Spywareblaster and add the immunizations.

News Comments > GTA4 PC Patch Issues
39. Re: GTA4 PC Patch Issues Dec 14, 2008, 09:22 Bludd

I love this game. The gameplay and attention to detail helps me overlook the performance issues. All the external stuff you have to install is annoying, but when you have the ecosystem all up and running it works well. However, the autopatch from LIVE didn't work so I had to download the patch manually per the VE3D link.

Still, this game loves CPU power. I need to upgrade.

Dear EA: Instead of spewing out a new NFS every year, spend a little time on each game and focus on QUALITY.

Sincerely
Everyone

If you can log on to LIVE, it is applied. If it kicks you out, it's not applied. Go to VE3D for a direct link to the cabinet file.

You're talking about a country in which a "bad work environment" means "they refused to support me for life while I ski and smoke pot." Ok, that's an exaggeration, but the friggin' military is unionized in Norway. I would take accusations of "bad work environments" coming out of one of the poster children for European socialism with a huge grain of salt.

We just have higher standards here in Norway.
