Why are you arguing with me then if this is all so random and debasing? I stated my opinion and you clearly think I am not entitled to it.

Let's turn it around, id is not irrelevant because a random message board user says they are not.

Are you being daft on purpose?

Says who? Random message board poster? With what evidence as your backup? Are you that devoid of any argument that you have to resort to cliches?

Here's another cliche for you: Doom 3 sucked donkey balls and the engine wasn't that much better.

They didn't make Quake 4 and nor did they make ETQW.

I restate what I said earlier: Rage may save id, but it's a long shot, because they really have to innovate and going by Doom 3, they don't seem able to.

Haven't you been reading the thread? id are now irrelevant. Why are they? Don't know, but they just are!

I guess "x is irrelevant" is a more profound way of saying "I didn't care for x's last game." Needs more synergizing, and shifting paradigms. Buzzwords rule.

You're only as good as your last game.

I refuse to write it with the periods. I call it Stalker or STALKER if I feel generous.

And I'm with Hump. Stalker is an immersive game, a diamond in the rough in the same way Far Cry 2 is a polished glass bead.

7. Re: Far Cry 2 Still Broken Apr 8, 2009, 11:29 Bludd

The gameplay is broken, the mechanics are all wrong, the story is insulting, the sandbox aspect is a cop out, the choices you make don't matter, the people you meet don't matter and the things you do for them don't matter. Other than that, it's great.

It's really crappy that creative got a patent on that when they aren't even in the 3d graphic rendering biz.

Jesus, will nVidia drop their prize G92 pig already?

GTX 275 is based on the GT200 chip, not the G92 chip.

Didn't they do a post mortem earlier? The writer was so up the FC2 producer's ass it was kind of embarrassing.

Game was shit, engine is good. Next!

I don't get what the big deal was about this? Its just as linear as anything thats come before it and the graphics, whilst OK weren't anything new to me either, so whats the deal? I played the demo and it was just as I expected, the AI doesn't do anything till you hit the next trigger point *Yawn* I was pinned down behind a wall or something shooting into the building, and the enemys kept spawning until I moved forward and triggered them to stop, LAME. If thats the rest of the game then no thanks.

That's my gripe too. That's why I prefer Crysis.

Wow, they sure are churning these out. Will this be as linear as the first one? If so, no go for me.

Then turn off automatic game updates. I mean, I and millions of others actually prefer playing the latest patched version of the game even if it makes me wait a few minutes, but the option is there to get a quicker, more inferior experience. Don't bitch about Steam when you're too lazy to explore the options it presents to you.

Yeah, and I can uninstall all my software so that Windows boots faster and I can write-protect my HDDs so they won't become fragmented.

Whatever you say, I am not a troll. I don't work for Microsoft or any of its partners.

I guess people will say Creston and I are the same person now.

I don't have a slow computer, on the contrary, I have a Core i7@3.2 GHz, 6 GB of DDR3-1600 and a GTX 285. I have several HDDs so I can have my games on a separate physical drive from the OS and the pagefile is on a separate drive again from the OS and the games. I have AHCI SATA enabled for native command queuing.

And I still maintain that the Steam client sucks.

WTF? Steam runs amazingly fast... never had a problem. Perhaps an upgrade is in order for you? No, actually, Steam runs blazingly fast on my girlfriend's crummy laptop. Nevermind, you must have some serious PC issues.

You must be accustomed to slow and unresponsive applications if you think the Steam client is fast. It isn't and it has never been and it is the main reason I don't use it even though I have games on it.

Whatever one might think of GFWL, it doesn't detract from the fact that the Steam client is cumbersome and annoyingly slow. If I ever bother to install it again, I'll be sure to turn off the overlay as someone said was possible. I haven't found a way before, but I'll search more thoroughly ... that is, if I ever can be assed to install the piece of shit again.

You mean the way it's in the way and offers no useful features?
It's in the way? You don't have to run the damn client for one. In-game you can press Home to access it. You can have it auto-logon. I've never actually run the client on its own. There's just no need.

......

It's true. The Steam client is unresponsive, slow and cumbersome and it has a stupid overlay system.
