"Huge Maps. Tanks Defibrillators. Jets. Team play"

This was a response to someone asking what his favourite things from BF2 were.

My biggest problem with GFWL is where they store savegames. It is an obscure place which is easy to forget when you need to back them up.

unpopular Games for Windows LIVE

That's putting it mildly...GFWL apparently installs its own TCP/IP stack which means that any system which has been configured to prevent rootkit access, such as my systems, cannot use GFWL. When they ported this console app to the PC they apparently left the entire network code intact which means it creates a whole new network path that cannot be controlled by Windows Firewall...I spent weeks with Microsoft trying to resolve the issue and the outcome was that a system configured to prevent rootkits cannot use GFWL. And, they have not indicated that they have any plans to change this.

The plus side is that if GFWL works on your system then a rootkit can be installed and use your internet connection without your knowledge...making it a litmus test for rootkit vulnerability.
Lol at Windows Firewall protecting you from rootkits.

Burnout driving model doesn't belong in a NFS game. You shouldn't have to drift every corner to retain speed.

Translation: We haven't put any effort into the game since everything we "gave you" as a content pack was already on the disc. We just don't feel the need to make the game any different or better since we are already trying to turn and burn like CoD titles.

have a nice day! **off to count money**
Map pack 7 was not.

It isn't really about DirectX, it is about cutting down Q&A and support costs.

A final fail in the end, but it lasted a good 4 years. Hackers are too arrogant.
The best hackers didn't touch the PS3 until OtherOS was removed. After that was gone, it took a year for it to be broken.

It goes to show that Sony's security engineering was security through obscurity which is never successful nor substantial. Maybe people from TSA designed the PS3's security?

Holy fuck, how the fucking shit can Sony mess up on public key crypto on the PS3? Either the dev who wrote that wanted the PS3 to run homebrew code, OR they don't know how to generate pseudo-random numbers.

I'm not sure a random investment firm who care solely about the biggest return is the best group to run a game company.
It is not the best group to run any entertainment business. See CVC and Formula 1 for a good example where people in suits who do not care about the sport take 50% of the earnings.

Bethesda always manage to astound me with their game design. They always fix some problem from their previous game and then they make whole new problems which they then fix in their next again game.

None of those offer what BC2 offers; infantry and vehicles in dynamic environments.
On one of the crappiest engines we've ever seen in a shooter. We're not missing out on much.

The ideas are there (destructible environments, vehicles, etc), but they're poorly experienced with floatiness and terrible hit detection. No thanks.
I don't think so. I do think they made the hit detection worse when they changed to the MOH hd but still there is no game that gives you the combination of infantry and vehicles in a dynamic environment. I find it much more fun than just running around shooting people in a static environment like in COD and MOH.
Again, I'm not questioning the type of gameplay BF offers. I just happen to think their engine is shit for the actual shooter aspect of the game. So they can provide the coolest combination of gameplay in the world, but if it's implemented within a crappy engine, it sorta nullifies the cool gameplay.

Aside from that, who cares? Play both or only one type based on your preference. If BC2 didn't have mediocre shooter elements, I'd happily go to that to get my open warfare fix. Both gameplay types offer unique experiences that can be enjoyed by all.
I think the engine is a massive improvement over the one used in BF2.

Trying to compete with Black Ops are we?

Too little, too late. I ditched Bad Company the day Medal of Honor came out, and ditched MoH the day Black Ops came out.

I doubt I will ever go back to either of them... no matter the patch or content size that is added.
Ah, you went to two lesser games? None of those offer what BC2 offers; infantry and vehicles in dynamic environments.

The patches are huge due to the way they have to build it, it's mostly texture crap according to the Dice devs. They even admitted it's stupid but it's way too late to change it at this point. They've been doing this since BF1942 though so there is no excuse for that nonsense to continue.
They changed their patching procedure, but they made new mistakes in the cooking procedure. It is a software engineering problem and they have to fix it for BF3 to retain any credibility in the SE department.
