It's a tactical squad turn based strategy. If you don't like games like that, don't play em. If you want the best game of that type since Jagged Alliance 2, just without economy/budget managing type things, Silent Storm is a must.
Though I have to wonder how the heck Silent Storm NA version is different from the European version that was out months ago...

Well I'd have switched the 2nd halves of the kung fu/aikido descriptions to
# Aikido: a defensive style with circular movements # Kung Fu: a fast style with a variety of graceful strikes and lots of grabs and throws

They messed up the appropriate descs for the martial arts skills in the Matrix MMORPG. Aikido and Kung Fu have each other's correct descriptions. </extreme nitpick>
# Aikido: a defensive style with lots of grabs and throws # Karate: a powerful style with strong punches and kicks # Kung Fu: a fast style with a variety of graceful strikes and circular movement

Cause of course you do tons of special ops missions involving terrorists, hostages, bombs, and whatnot in real life; why do that in games? </sarcasm>

Woo! Splinter Cell: PT with multiple paths through levels! Basically the glaring shortcoming of the first Splinter Cell fixed!

Fetus, you say leaks saying Sept 30 was when it would be ready "forced" Valve to declare it official, yet there were just as many rumors and leaks, that seemed to get confirmed that the game would come out in November or early 2004, long before Sept 30 passed. By your logic, Valve would have been put in a position to "accept" a dozen different dates somehow.

The title of the review I'd submit to GameFaqs if I had 5 paragraphs to fill it with: "Pretty fun, very challenging, but extremely unrefined. X-Com 4 or Jagged Alliance 3 it ain't.

Splinter Cell -was- fun, and I prefer to play shooters on my PC instead of a console any day of the wekk, but it was way too linear compared to the other big name sneaking games- Thief, Hitman, and Deus Ex.

It's not the weakest PC port ever, not unless you count the fact that it originally was intended for PCs, then it's a mediocre port. If it has total mouse support, doesn't require the use of keyboards in menus, and is optimized for PC performance, I'll be content. To buy it at $30. :p

UT2K3 was the multiplayer half of U2. Well sorta. Same engine, different weapons. One is mediocre singleplayer without multiplayer capabilities at first. The other is basically all about multiplayer matches with the single player being training.

I gotta wonder what they'll have to do to get it running at a constant 30 FPS on PS2. Even if it'll be running at 640x480, those are still some damn sharp textures and very high poly cars.

Uh-huh, just like how people apologize for calling another person "a-hole" and the like, after being threatened with a lawsuit, is always because they were wrong?

How it helps them is that it at least gives the gaming community a reason. Perhaps some anon idiots won't care if they can't feed themselves, but some more intelligent people will at least understand, even if they are not appeased with a real patch. IMO, the real mistake they made was signing Bethesda up as their NA publisher.

Lineage, Meh. It's more RPG-lite than even Diablo. Doesn't even have class skills, and the PK system is incredibly basic. That and it had a 2 sec lag on broadband. Only thing it has is nice art. I never could understand why it was/is so popular.
