The "lying" piece is a pretty simple opinion that I've held. If you can sell any piece of crap to the masses with the right marketing, then you can make the actual game for the hardcores. Of course that doesn't work out in real life, as making the actual game for the hardcores takes more effort and money.

That's not a good thing. It was hard to tell when you were in (automatically triggered) melee range and it had a fairly long reswing time.

If there were no limits, bots would have instantaneous reactions to everything, including stuff happening behind them/out of sight, and would never miss with hitscan weapons.

Let's hope it doesn't exceed the original's excessive dialogue. More action less talk please.
Fuck off and go play a pure shooter. Mass Effect had the least dialogue and content of any Bioware game, ever.

I hope (but know they won't) they'll eventually replace the god-awful dialog pie system. I'll take the traditional dialog tree any day over that dumbed down filth.
I can understand not liking it, but it didn't seem "dumbed down" to me. If anything a list of responses labeled 1 through 4 is about as dumbed down as you can get.
It's dumbed down because of what's possible- e.g. nothing beyond the Good/Neutral/Asshole and 2 slots for Paragon/Renegade response. There's no room for NWN/Baldur's Gate style of using skills in dialogue.

L4D1 wasn't made by Valve. They basically just bought it and finished it up. Had it been their baby, I'm sure they would have supported it better than they did, but now, this time around, they have their own game to support with L4D2. They felt they could do a better L4D, so they decided to do a sequel, Valve-style. I'm sure it will receive better support than the last one.

I see this bandied about often as some kind of reason L4D2 would be better...which is just completely wrong. Valve didn't buy L4D, they bought Turtle Rock Studios in its entirety, and the Turtle Rock people finished up the game after being bought/renamed to Valve South. Those same people also made L4D2. It's still a bunch of not-Valvers in all but name. It's just a different studio mindset.

From the guys who made the freeware platformers Knytt and Within a Deep Forest. Plays a lot like Knytt with better graphics and a few additional mechanics. In fact, I wonder if it's maybe a bit too difficult for people who haven't played all the free Nifflas scenarios and aren't as practiced with doing consecutive walljumps with accurate timing.
