Still? That's like a two decade old fight.

They see all the folks watching streams and youtube casts of games, and they don't think "great fan-base" but rather "lost revenue". Of course, since they are an amoral profit machine what would anyone expect?

Where the fuck are you getting this information? The replays will be free, just like they are now. Stop making up bullshit to feed your paranoia about greedy publishers out to screw you.

Supreme Commander has a nice replay system and it worked on day 1. I might buy SCII when the replay system works.

The replay system works great now. This is about implementing a built-in replay sharing system through BNet.

It's like half of you people don't know how to read around here and the other half just maks shit up instead of bothering to look at the article.

No kidding. The shit that gets made up just to further rationalize Blizz-hate over the base game + 2 expansion pack issue. How does it feel to have the IQ of a creationist, Paketep/LittleMe?

Tell that to me when in august this year I lose access to my steam games on the same computer I've been playing them since I first bought them.... (well ok I'm not losing access to the half life games because I've got oh my god the physical media.. this makes no sense!).
And how exactly does this catastrophe happen, 4 months from now?

I feel bad vibes coming out of this game. I mean, if the game is so moddable why offer a civilization through DLC as a pre-order bonus? If the game is so moddable it would be easy to replicate the Babylonians.
Civs have fully 3d rendered and animated leaders for diplomacy. There may be other stuff too, who knows how Civs may be unique from each other this time around.

But i'm more meh with the enforced Steam lock via the use of Steamworks. I prefer to buy games to own and not to rent for full price. That said, i'll pass, will wait for a major price reduction (under 10 ) and then i'll rent the game from Steam. As i learned over the years, patience IS a virtue
Not this shit again.

7. Re: Vanguard Servers to Merge Jun 9, 2010, 13:08 Zyrxil

It's too bad. Vanguard had some nice ideas, very original classes, and a really nice world for exploring. The game itself was really clunky though, bad graphics, bad performance, bad animations, and they implemented more player-friendly travel much too late.

Not really. The portraits are non-ugly now, but the rest of the graphics in the screenshots (icon, textures) are simply Avernum 6 assets, antialiased.

How fucking cool is THAT????
It's pretty unusual though. Usually it's around $30k a year. Donations spike when he releases a major new version as he did in April.

EA doesn't make any money, the third party server providers do. It's technically for the same reason as what IW did- not releasing server files to the public so there aren't any pirate servers that don't skip a CD-key check.

You haven't played Aquaria? It's fantastic, and was well worth its original price of $30. Underwater Metroid is the basic description.

Are you fucking serious? It's a PREORDER that gets you into a beta engine test. Oh, what a ripoff, I mean it's not like this is standard operating procedure for multiplayer-only games for years now. OH WAIT IT IS. It's not as if you're buying your way into a Beta and only the Beta, you get the full game when it comes out too.

23. Re: Latin American StarCraft Pricing Details May 8, 2010, 12:43 Zyrxil

If what Hejivar says is true and the 6-month price is 1/3 the normal price for games over there, then it's a fantastic deal for people who aren't going to dedicate themselves to Starcraft 2 multi. It's exactly why I'm pissed at people pissed at this deal- This is exactly the type of innovative thinking and giving people options that should be used to fight piracy.

Not a moron, just too damn lazy to click on the link and read the entire press release.
C'mon, 60 bucks for an incomplete game its a fucking ripoff! Do you realize that the game will have at least 3 releases only to get 3 SP campaings? It's 180 bucks in total!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (if not more, probably expansions and dlc will be released, like in WOW...) This game should've gotten the 3 full campaings on the first release, and an expansion later, like every old rts.
How is it an incomplete game when that 1 campaign (not including the mini-Protoss campaign also in the game) is as long as the 3 campaigns from the first game put together?

Did you demand a refund for the first Lord of the Rings movie because it didn't end with the Ring being destroyed? "Hey, what the hell is with 1/3 of the story being sold at full price? What a ripoff! Peter Jackson's a fucking scam artist!"

Read the fricking press release. Blue, you should've included the second paragraph as well.
Players who prefer to make a one-time payment for unlimited access to the StarCraft II single-player campaign and multiplayer play on Battle.net will have the option to purchase and download an unlimited-access version of the game directly from Blizzard Entertainment at pricing similar to the US price of $59.99USD.

You're morons.

1. "Oh no! They're giving Latin America options for the purchase for those who can't afford $59 or who just want to play the single player and finish in well under 6 months. What a ripoff!"

2. "Oh what, you purchase at the normal price that every other game sells for as well? What a ripoff!"

3. "And of course, I got to get mad about a lowered price option that's only applicable for 3 countries that've I've never even visited."

Civ is about the one game I'm wary of getting on steam because of the level of modding.
And what do you base this on? I own the Steam version of Civ IV and the expansions and the big mods, Fall From Heaven 2, etc., all work perfectly fine. The only complaint I have is that it's not well integrated into Steam enough, so the base game, and each expansion have their own folder instead of being all in one folder like the retail version would be.
