You not only hit the nail on the head, you smashed it teeny pieces and mailed them home separately by UPS. I couldn't've said it better myself, personally I've gotten really tired of reading negative posts every time T2 comes up: T1 and T2 are the only games that have stayed on my drive for more than a few months, and in fact T1 has been there for almost 5 years now, give or take. THAT says something.

You're dead on when you talk about dedication to the game, and I couldn't agree more. T1/2 aren't games where you jump in and start blasting things: there's plans, inventory management, defenses, etc. that all need to be taken into consideration. Add a mod (like Ren) onto that and it's doubly hard but a billion times more rewarding! For example, every time I go into T2 I can expect to have an email or two from players I peripherally know, sending compliments for a good match, invitations to play again, or whatnot. That doesn't happen too often in other games, yet here you have it.

All in all, I'm personally glad I own both games and would highly recommend either one (even T1 is still a great game, obviously different from T2 but there's a time for everything) to anyone who was looking for something better than shoot-n-run.

This is a good move, despite any cries of "money-milking!" because a LOT of people won't try the game due to its *initial* reputation of being shoddy and hurried. True, THEN, but the game now is absolutely amazing and really deserves this kind of re-examination. Hopefully some new blood will come to the game.

I could understand if the whole thing was cel-shaded, but mixing a regular HL-looking environment with that technique for characters (and some objects?) looks REALLY bad. Kind of like "Cool World" but worse, if that's possible.

They don't get easier, it's "scrutinize the whole level until you find a miniscule switch that you're supposed to magically guess what it does" throughout the entire game. If you can call that a puzzle. How in the world you'd want to waste money on more of that is beyond me. There's basically only 4 or 5 areas to the whole game, the latter half which are markedly the same. Sure the lightsaber is fun, but how far can that take you? It's like bullettime and Max Payne: it wears thin. Read the GamePen review.

That pretty much sums it up. However, I'm skeptical as to how long a few quirks like the lightsaber and FOrce will tide people over until they realize how much the rest of it stinks... When you get down to it, a stinky core game is a stinky game, no matter what pretty lights are attatched to it.

GamePen's review of JK2 is DEAD ON. It seems like every other reviewer out there is blind by the SW label and thinks it's the best game ever, when in fact it's nothing but a hyped Q3 mod, uncomfortably reminiscent of STV:EF, and a game that ultimately gets old & tiresome long before its conclusion. (This is after playing through it in its entirety plus many MP matches.) Read the GamePen review if you really want a good take on the game.

Looks like I'll add in my 2 cents as well, along with everyone else. Blues is the only site I go for regular game news (apart from game-respective sites like Morrowind Summit) and I read it every morning while getting ready for the day, as well as throughout the day when I get a chance. Needless to say, I was distressed as well when you went away! All is well now, and once again... Great work guys, this site really is the best.

1) Calm down.

2) Yes there is a site. You DO realize that your end can have problems, mmm?

As for the game itself, engine is not everything. I've played (and loved) every M&M since 1 (yay Sorpigal again ^_^) and even 6, 7, and 8 were VERY good games despite all the complaining about the engine. BG, BG2, IWD, IWD2, and Planescape all use a "dated" engine, but they're still great games. I think, if you want to give it a chance, the actual game will change (or at least average out) your mind for the better.

No kidding! Wow... Well that *is* one way to do it. I was just reading one of the recent previews about "how [he] received a press preview copy in the mail the other day" and thought how nice it'd be if I was in journalism instead of art/design. Ahh well, only a little bit of time left.

I wonder why a leaked version of the press copy hasn't spread. o_O Would be fun to play with whilst we wait for another month and a half.

That IS a nice-looking trailer! Being a T1/T2 player I'm fond of open environments and this one looks like it'll deliver. I really like the sounds of the weapons and ambient weapon effects (like bullets wooshing by), too. Any word on how far along the game is? This is the first I've heard of it.

9. Re: Why not raise prices? Mar 26, 2002, 12:14 Morgan19

Everyone's going to quit because of a price hike, eh? Just like how people don't pump $1.50 gas, use 35-cent payphones, or go to a $8.50 movie anymore, right? Price hikes happen, 95% of people are not going to leave.

Did you even read that paragraph, or were you just looking for things to moan about...? The second sentence of the "half a paragraph," as you put it, cites Fincher as an influence in the movie-like approach of Angel of Darkness. Fleshing out his existence for people who've never heard of him or his work is accomplished with the rest of that paragraph: his work, which you for some reason seem to think is irrelevant.

Wow. That took a lot of brainwork, huh? o_O

I hate to break it to you, but you're using heresy the wrong way. It means when someone disagrees with the church, not when the church disagrees with someone. If someone said that jeebus DIDN'T exist, that would be heresy. But saying that people are wrong because they say he DID exist and did stuff is not heresy.
