Gametypes? |
Feb 1, 2003, 17:18 |

Maybe I'm just out of it or confusing the patch and bonus pack, but what happened to the new gametypes? I thought I'd heard mention of a Last Man Standing, something about everyone against one person, and "fight-against-U1-monsters" gametypes. I've installed both the patch and pack and can't find mention of the gametypes anywhere: no mutators, gametypes, nothing. Am I imagining this, or was this stuff not added?
(EDIT-) Ahhh, I think I know what happened... Apparently Epic is releasing a pack sometime soon as well that'll have gametypes, maps, etc.?

Try about 20 minutes, with download speeds fluctuating between 30 and 60 kb. Although the levels aren't particularly ground-breaking, they certainly are a study in how to make beautiful, believable environments. I really like the level that has a "Jurassic Park facility/overgrown foliage" feel to it... I have a feeling that mappers are going to make some great levels with these textures.

Although I have to wonder just how much stuff you've downloaded for UT2k3 if your UT folder is 6 gigs, and what's the problem with 120 mb's more, 6 gb is really small change when compared to the 120+ gb drives out there. It's still a somewhat valid argument though, especially if your computer's more than a few years old and you don't have a larger "modern" drive. (But then again, if you *do* have an old system you probably wouldn't be able to run UTk3 or U2 in the first place...)
As for your getting tired of having the CD in the drive, there's always the zillions of No-CD patches for just about any game you have. If you actually own the game, there's no one stopping you from backing up the appropriate .exe and applying the patch to get around the CD problem. Wham, problem solved, end of story.

My god, I can't believe you people are complaining about the size of something that you're getting from the devs for FREE. I shudder to think how whiny you all'd be if you had to buy the extra content! For those with broadband, no big deal. For those with modems, do like someone said below and download it overnight and get over it. It won't make a bit of a difference how long it took t download once you have it in your greedy little hands, have installed it, and are enjoying what they've put out for free for people who enjoy the game.

What is there were no Gold announcements |

People, c'mon... Think about it. If companies didn't announce gold and you instead learned about the game being sold when you actually saw it in the store, you'd think you were getting it as soon as possible and would be none the wiser. Quit complaining about how it takes X amount of time after you hear "gold" and be happy when you have it, sheesh! 3 months from now it won't matter if you had to wait a week later or three weeks later: you'll be on to other things. Perspective...

>>While you're waiting, try Age of Wonders 2. The developers "borrowed" everything from Master of Magic, and playing Age of Wonders 2 is pretty much just like having a Master of Magic sequel. Seriously, if AoW2 was renamed Master of Magic 2, you'd never know the difference.<<
No kidding? I'll have to check it out then, thanks. How old's the game?

#2: But how do you REALLY feel?
Now we just need a Master of Magic 3. Or 2, for that matter.

Breed |

Wow... Breed keeps sounding better and better. Granted, there's more than a few catchphrases and PR lines thrown into that interview, but the game's sounding really interesting. Kind of like a mix between Tribes1/2, Halo, and Unreal. And if they stick to their schedule it should be out in the next 6 months. Wheee!

Careful #48, intelligent logic isn't taken very well by illogical masses who thrive on whining about anything & everything they can.

#1 and #2, have you been asleep the past few months? Like someone already said, they didn't "just" start talking about the bonus pack, it's been floating around for a while now... That said, I can't wait to try out some of the new content soon!

Way off topic, but speaking of Metroid Prime: that's certainly one I'd like to see a port of so we PC users could get a chance at it. Don't think that's going to happen, though.

Mmm, I'm interested. The last console I owned was an SNES (and that was quite a while ago ^_^) and never having touched an XBOX, Halo is still new for me. I'd be willing to try it out if they put out a demo around the release time. Personally, I'm not going to knock it before it's even released on the PC: it might be a very good PC game in the end.

As the first few posts show, I'm sure there'll be tons of people hopping on the wagon to bash this wonderful news. Personally, I bought bought T1 and T2 within a few weeks of their release and have loved both. Here's to a great third installment!

And you know what? Your oft-repeated "I'm a cool bully and I'll beat you up from behind this tall fence" routine is old, tired, and worn out. No one cares how mean you make yourself out to be.

He never said anything about "forcing" himself to like it, only that after giving UT2k3 "a chance," as you put it, UT seemed like an inferior/previous-gen product. If *you* don't want to try something, that's your call as well. Foolishly brash and quick to make a decision right at the start, but hey... Whatever. But personally, citing reasons like "no demo recording at release" (which has or will be added, if memory serves) is what's pathetic, honestly: a perfect example of wanting instant gratification and writing something off when you don't get it.
